Cowboy (and rain) boots were the attire du jour for Boston Calling on Friday, as the wettest day of the fest collided with its country-heavy billing.
The first night also brought faithful Fenway vibes as fans joined a 'Sweet Caroline' singalong during a rain-soaked intermission while waiting for headliner Combs to perform. The short delay before his set proved to be worth the wait, as the country star charged up the Green Stage and 'didn't let up for an hour and a half,' according to

The 'When It Rains It Pours' singer's set featured a cameo by fellow country star Megan Moroney, who performed earlier in the night on the Green Stage. She rocked a personalized Red Sox jersey while joining Combs for a rendition of his song 'Beer Never Broke My Heart.' Combs noted in an Instagram post that Moroney had been
an extra in the song's music video and asked her to jump in on Friday night when he saw they 'were playing the same festival.'
Other highlights from the day included Sheryl Crow, rewarding fans who weathered the late-afternoon rain with crowd-pleasing hits like 'Soak Up The Sun.' She offered a small bit of political commentary too,

Meanwhile, singer-songwriter Max McNown played up to the New England crowd by performing the Noah Kahan's 'Stick Season,' calling the Vermont crooner, 'one of my greatest inspirations.' Over on the Blue Stage, rapper T-Pain showed off his dance moves and kept the party going with nostalgic bangers like 'Buy You A Drank (Shawty Snappin')' and 'All I Do Is Win.'

Saturday's lineup was a trip down memory lane for millennial pop-punk fans, culminating with headliners Fall Out Boy. From hits like 'Thnks fr th Mmrs' to newer tracks like 'So Much (for) Stardust,' the band surveyed its lengthy discography, with plenty of pyrotechnics thrown into the mix.

Fans who caught Fall Out Boy's set were treated to another 'Sweet Caroline' moment, as singer Patrick Stump broke out the Neil Diamond tune during a brief piano interlude. The band also teased the opening to the Dropkick Murphy's 'I'm Shipping Up to Boston' before diving into 'Bang The Doldrums.'
Avril Lavigne also brought the pyrotechnics and a heavy dose of pink pop punk aesthetics to the Green Stage with her early 2000s angsty teen anthems like 'Sk8er Boi.' Lavigne later brought singer Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low out to perform their recent track 'Fake As Hell.' (All Time Low performed earlier in the day on the Green Stage as well.)

The final day of the fest brought the best weather, along with a mix of poignant tributes and political moments on stage.
Headliner Dave Matthews Band wound back the clock to the '90s as the group played hits like 'Tripping Billies.' During the set, singer Dave Matthews shared a message of hope for fans who felt like 'the world has lost her mind' while calling out 'mis-leaders.' After the performance, Matthews returned to the stage holding up a pair of signs that read 'Stop killing children' and 'Stop the genocide,' which he has brought out at

On the Blue Stage, former Rage Against the Machine star and Harvard alum Tom Morello was back in his old stomping grounds. During his set, Morello reminisced with the crowd about his days in Cambridge. He also welcomed them to show with a heavy dig at the Trump administration, saying, 'the last big event before they throw us all in jail.' (His stage and guitar were adorned with anti-Trump and -ICE motifs.) Morello also shouted out the Springsteen-Trump feud, adding: 'Bruce draws a bigger audience,' before playing the Springsteen classic 'The Ghost of Tom Joad.'

Morello also paid tribute to former Audioslave bandmate Chris Cornell with a rendition of 'Like a Stone,' calling it 'more of a prayer than a song' while honoring the late singer. The tributes continued on the Blue Stage with Public Enemy's Flavor Flav and Chuck D, as the duo got the crowd to shout well wishes for
Other highlights from day three included Sublime, with singer Jakob Nowell honoring his late dad and the band's former singer Bradley Nowell, as Sunday marked 29 years since his death. Amid a cloudy overcast, he added: 'If you've got a family member or loved one who isn't here with you tonight, I just want to let you know that they are here, man, sure as that [expletive] sun's going to come out again.' The sun ended up breaking through the clouds shortly afterwards as the band performed, with Nowell later joking, 'Yeah, we planned it.'

Post Malone navigated a very damp night for a sold out crowd at Gillette

That might have been necessary to buy in to the scale of the production. With booming, busy drums and lurching guitar squeals, plenty of numbers leaned on sound and fury and signified not much, and the flame bursts and fireworks that punctuated songs like 'Rockstar' simply underlined his band's churning sensory-overload maximalism. With its late-'70s adult-contemporary tinkly-piano sound, 'What Don't Belong To Me' was soft rock, but loud. The rolling cut-time country of 'M-E-X-I-C-O,' meanwhile, was energetic but not particularly convincing. Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up But if the singer's recent Nashville pivot may have been mercenary in nature, it also came off as dopily genuine; Malone's great gift as a pop star is his utter inability to radiate anything but sincerity. Leaning into a rasp and a twang, he pulled off the big-spectacle country of 'Wrong Ones' better than a lot of big-spectacle country stars, and the straight-up heartstring-tugger 'Yours' imagined the wedding of his three-year-old daughter, a country theme if ever there was one. Advertisement Even if he didn't slip or fall, Malone's performance didn't always have sure footing. His voice was sometimes more robust than on record, as on a more dynamic 'Better Now,' and sometimes it was even more warbly and thin. He inserted 'Boston' into the lyrics of 'M-E-X-I-C-O' and Morgan Wallen's 'I Ain't Comin' Back,' and it flew by so quickly in both cases that either nobody noticed or nobody cared. Still, Malone's affability was so strong that he could bring a fan in a Dallas Cowboys jersey onstage to perform with him and get the crowd to stop booing long enough for him to sing the almost delicate 'Feeling Whitney' accompanied only by her fingerpicking on acoustic guitar. (The booing recommenced after.) And as he returned from the rigging at the back of the stadium where he sang the encore, he stopped to sign autographs and pose for selfies along the way as his band pounded out the post-rock scope of 'Congratulations.' 'As long as you ain't hurting nobody, keep being yourself,' he concluded, advice that's worked out pretty well for Post Malone. Jelly Roll performs at Gillette Stadium. Spencer Schwellenbach stymies Red Sox on 25th birthday in Braves' 5-0 victory

ATLANTA (AP) — Spencer Schwellenbach struck out 11 in 6 1/3 innings on his 25th birthday to help the Atlanta Braves beat the Boston Red Sox 5-0 on Saturday. Schwellenbach (4-1) allowed five hits and didn't walk a batter. He rebounded against the Red Sox after giving up a grand slam to Rafael Devers in a 10-4 loss May 18 in Boston. Schwellenbach has gone six-plus innings in four consecutive starts and it was the ninth time in 12 starts he's made it into at least the sixth inning this season. Ronald Acuña Jr. and Austin Riley hit fourth-inning home runs off Walker Buehler (4-3). Buehler allowed five earned runs on 10 hits with two walks and six strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings. Key moment The Braves scored four runs in fourth to take a 5-0 lead. It was just the third time since May 5 the Braves have scored at least four runs in an inning. Key stat Schwellenbach threw 10 pitches 99 mph or more in the first two innings. Those were the 10 fastest pitches of his career. Before Saturday, his fastest was 98.9 mph. Up next LHP Garrett Crochet (4-4, 2.04 ERA) was set to start for Boston against RHP Bryce Elder (2-2, 4.50) on Sunday in the series finale. ___ AP MLB:

Story's go-ahead homer helps Red Sox snap 5-game skid in 5-1 win over Braves

ATLANTA (AP) — Trevor Story hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the fourth inning and the Boston Red Sox snapped a five-game skid with a 5-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Friday night. Atlanta jumped out to a lead in the first on Matt Olson's RBI single. Story and Boston took the lead in the fourth, added a run in the sixth and two more in the ninth on a two-run single by Rafael Devers to send the Braves to their fourth loss in five games. Red Sox starter Lucas Giolito allowed one earned run on five hits with three strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings. Five Boston relievers combined to work 4 1/3 shutout innings with four strikeouts and just one hit. Key moment Down 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh, the Braves got the potential tying run to first base with two outs. Olson hit a grounder 112.7 mph to Story at shortstop. Story made a diving stop and his throw to first appeared to pull first baseman Abraham Toro off the bag. Toro then threw home, attempting to throw out Luke Williams. But, Toro's throw was errant, allowing Williams to reach home. The Red Sox challenged the call at first base, and the call was overturned. Olson was called out to end the inning and the score remained 3-1. Key stat Story entered the game batting .131 (16 for 122) with six RBIs in his last 30 games. He ended a 57 at-bat homerless streak with his fourth inning blast. Up next The Red Sox send RHP Walker Buehler (4-2, 3.95 ERA) against the Braves' RHP Spencer Schwellenbach (3-4, 3.42) in the second game of the series on Saturday. ___ AP MLB:
