THE Malaysia Techlympics 2025 has officially kicked off with the aim of engaging some 1.7 million participants nationwide while at the same time aspiring to extend its reach to
Organised by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (MOSTI) through its agency the Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corp Sdn Bhd as a strategic partner, the enculturation programme focuses on instilling strong science, technology and innovation (STI) culture among students and youth to shape a future-ready generation.
Open to participants aged 7 to 30, the competition will be carried out in phases, starting at the school level prior to embarking on zonal screenings across six main regions and progressing to the National Finals which is scheduled to take place in November 2025.
The competition format combines practical challenges, real-world technology exposure and experiential learning.
The initiative also includes inclusivity, an effort on widening access and equity by reaching out to underserved communities in remote areas through targeted outreach initiatives.
Additionally, teacher training sessions will also be conducted to equip educators with knowledge of current technologies to integrate and embed into daily education to help bridge the nation's educational gap.
Very broadly, Malaysia Techlympics 2025 marks a pivotal step in nurturing future-ready talent and driving a culture of innovation that will shape the nation's STI landscape for generations to come.
Recognising the crucial role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the future economy, more AI-focused competitions and activities are in the pipeline to encourage future generations to explore and develop expertise in this critical field.
Several selected competitions have been earmarked to offer opportunities and exposure for students to gain global exposure and represent Malaysia on the world stage.

Amid the accelerating wave of global digitalization, ZTE remains committed to its role as a 'Driver of the Digital Economy', advancing its sustainability agenda on two fronts: by making significant strides in green operations guided by science-based carbon targets, and by enabling digital and low-carbon transformation across industries through cutting-edge technologies. Xu Ziyang, Executive Director and CEO of ZTE, states in the report, 'The new wave of AI-driven technological revolution, particularly the boom of large models and generative AI, has propelled the global digital and intelligent transformation. The report reveals that ZTE continues to strengthen the underlying capabilities and scaling up R&D investment to build stronger core competence, with the R&D expenses accounting for 19.81% of operating revenue.
