Summit asks PUC for more time on CO2 pipeline
The bills come in response to a series of at least four corruption cases found in state government in the past year prosecuted by the attorney general's office. Attorney General Marty Jackley supported the legislation and testified in favor of many of the bills.
Senate Bill 60 which expands the access and investigatory authority of the State Auditor.
Senate Bill 61 which modifies the authority of the Board of Internal Controls.
Senate Bill 62 which establishes mandatory reporting requirements related to improper government conduct and crime, and to provide a penalty.
Senate Bill 63 which establishes protections for state employees who report improper governmental conduct and crime.
'As stewards of taxpayer dollars, we have a responsibility to ensure integrity in how those dollars are spent,' said Rhoden in a news release.
All four bills will take effect July 1.
'Today, our State is choosing to better protect taxpayer dollars and those State employees reporting crimes to the Attorney General,' said Jackley in a news release.
Rhoden has signed a total of 106 bills into law for the 2025 Legislative Session.

China wants to challenge dollar's dominance While China has been apprehensive of the global crypto economy and has banned it in the mainland, its desire for the yuan to challenge the likes of the USD as the standard global currency is pushing the dragon toward stablecoins. With President Donald Trump signing the GENIUS Act to drive the global growth of USD-pegged stablecoins, the U.S. is a leader when it comes to stablecoins, and it will be quite a challenge for China to catch sources, Reuters also reported that China is expected to potentially discuss the usage of stablecoins for cross-border trade and payments with some countries at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit to be held Aug. 31-Sep. 1 in Tianjin. Hong Kong and Shanghai will be the main centers to streamline the implementation of the stablecoin plan. As per DeFiLlama, the total stablecoin market is worth more than $275 billion at the time of writing, and the USD-pegged stablecoins dominate the market. Paxton's lead over Cornyn nearly cut in half: Poll
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's (R) lead over incumbent Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) in the state's Senate primary is narrowing, according to a new survey from Texas Southern University's Barbara Jordan Public Policy Research and Survey Center survey. The poll showed Paxton holding a 5-point lead among likely primary voters, 44 percent to 39 percent, in a two-way race with Cornyn. Another 17 percent said they were undecided. The last Texas Southern University poll released in May showed Paxton with a 9-point lead over Cornyn. The 5-point gap between Paxton and Cornyn remains the same in a hypothetical three-way race with Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas), who has been considering a primary run.
