KILA gets Capacity Building Commission accreditation
Rigorous evaluation
The CBC accreditation is awarded after rigorous evaluation of training excellence, needs assessment, course design, faculty expertise, infrastructure, governance systems, trainee support, evaluation mechanisms, and institutional collaboration.
KILA is the first civil service training institution in Kerala to achieve this recognition.
Established in April 2021, the CBC has been actively working to strengthen India's training ecosystem. Its accreditation framework, National Standards for Civil Services Training Institutions (NSCSTI), not only sets baseline benchmarks but also aligns institutions with global best practices.
With this accreditation, KILA will gain access to CBC's Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), enabling it to design and deliver high-impact training programmes. It also opens doors for KILA to showcase Kerala's development model and local governance success stories at the national level.
Training programmes
The recognition further positions KILA to conduct training programmes across States, host trainees from other parts of the country, and implement projects beyond the State. The accreditation was granted following an on-site assessment by the CBC on May 15 and 16.
The official certificate was received by KILA's Director General A. Nizamuddin.

Exhibition on Telugu freedom fighters opens at Salar Jung Museum
A photo exhibition celebrating prominent Telugu freedom fighters and the evolution of the Indian National Flag was inaugurated at the Salar Jung Museum on Thursday. Organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the event forms part of its Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme. Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament V. Vijayendra Prasad and University of Hyderabad Vice-Chancellor Prof. B. Jagadeeshwar Rao jointly inaugurated the exhibition, which features around 40 panels on the lives and struggles of unsung heroes such as Turrebaz Khan, Moulvi Allauddin, Kaloji Narayana Rao, Sangam Laxmi Bayamma, Kumram Bheem and Suddala Hanumanthu. Mr. Prasad described the display as a rare collection that should be widely shared with the younger generation. He emphasised that the Indian flag is a symbol of the nation's self-respect and pride, and that every citizen should uphold these values. Mr. Rao noted that such initiatives preserve history and instil patriotism. As part of the event, CBC Hyderabad also held essay and Telugu poetry competitions on patriotic themes, with winners from five city colleges receiving prizes and certificates from the dignitaries. CBC Additional Director General Shruti Patil said the exhibition is aimed to connect today's youth with the sacrifices and bravery of their forebears. The exhibition will remain open to the public till August 17, 2025.

First-term exam schedule for State schools announced
The General Education department has published the timetable for the first-term examinations. The timetable will be applicable to schools following the Muslim calendar too. A meeting of the Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) monitoring committee, presided over by the Director of General Education, decided to conduct the examinations from August 18 to August 29. The examinations for Classes I to IV will begin only on August 20. The examinations for the remaining Classes till Class X will be held from August 18 to 26, while those for the higher secondary classes will be held from August 18 to 29. After the examinations, Onam celebrations will be held in all schools on August 29. The schools will close for Onam holidays the same day. There will be no exam in Kasaragod district on August 27 on account of Ganeshotsavam. The examination scheduled for that day will be held on August 29.

Kerala man killed in aircraft crash in Canada, second such death in July
An Indian national was among the two killed in a commercial survey plane crash in Canada's Newfoundland province, the Consulate General of India in Toronto confirmed on Tuesday.
