Valerie the dachshund reunited with owners after 540 days

Times07-05-2025
The last time Georgia Gardner saw her miniature dachshund, Valerie, the dog cut a slight figure, barely 6in tall and weighing 8lb. Her pet's existence consisted of toys, treats and getting wrapped up in a little pink jumper with matching collar and lead when the weather turned cold. Then Valerie disappeared into the wilderness of an Australian island.
After 540 days of separation, Gardner has finally been reunited with her beloved pet, who is now 4lb heavier — a muscular and stocky dog who no longer fits into her pink harness.
'It was absolutely incredible,' said Gardner, 24, describing the moment she and her boyfriend, Josh Fishlock, 25, saw their elusive sausage dog in the flesh for the first time since she escaped from their

The Block host Scott Cam explodes at contestant after she accused the show of staging drama for the cameras

Scott Cam blew up at a contestant during Wednesday's episode of The Block after she accused the show of staging drama for the cameras. Han, one half of the Perth duo with her partner Can, furiously clashed with Foreman Dan during Tuesday's episode, accusing him of 'stitching her up.' Unhappy with her comments, Scott faced off with Han on Wednesday. 'Han, I heard some other people saying that you're accusing us of stitch ups and doing stuff just for camera, which I've told you many many times, we never set you up to fail and we never stitch you up,' he said. 'We help you along the way. You're making decisions that are affecting you. You made those decisions, not us,' he continued. 'We made changes to your laundry and your pantry waste, we let you cut some concrete for one waste but we didn't approve and we won't approve the second one. 'You're not a builder so don't make decisions that are going to affect your build and don't accuse us of stitching you up and doing things for camera because we don't do that.' Scott then demanded: 'I'm going to ask you really nicely to readjust your attitude on the show to the crew and to Dan and to me and everyone around you.' Han was not entertained, exploding as she told her building team: ''I don't give a f**k, honestly!' Later, however, she softened and apologised to Scott. 'I didn't mean to disrespect anyone,' she admitted, before the pair shared a friendly hug. On Tuesday, Han and Dan came to blows over changes to the bathroom, that left a concrete slab sitting in a doorway - and Dan did not approve. Han argued that she'd gotten the go-ahead from the on-site plumber, but Dan insisted that wasn't good enough. 'He's just a plumber, he doesn't design anything,' Dan argued with the frustrated Blockhead. 'You're not cutting any structural slab, no way,' he added. Han admitted she was 'angry and frustrated,' adding, 'From where I'm standing, I've done everything right.' She then blew up at the unsuspecting foreman. 'I'm sorry, but this is absolute horses**t. This is all for the camera, this is absolute bulls**t,' she ranted. 'It's an absolute stitch-up Dan. I'm trying to do my best job and really go by the process,' she continued, raging. 'It's like pick on the good guy, pick on the person that's doing it by the book. And I'm sick of it.' Her words were not enough to change Dan's mind, who continued to insist the team go by the book.

Married At First Sight bride Domenica Calarco reveals bizarre pregnancy fear that has left her 'terrified' of daily task

Domenica Calarco has shared a fear she has developed during her pregnancy that has left her 'terrified.' The former Married At First Sight bride posted a video to Instagram Stories explaining that she has become fearful of driving. 'I'm at that stage where I don't want to drive by myself, because I'm terrified I'm going to go into labour while I'm driving,' she said. 'I don't know, has that ever happened?' the 31-year-old added. Dom also explained that she had been undergoing 'every beauty treatment possible' such as having her brows done before the baby arrived. In recent months, Dom admitted to fans that she had been struggling through a difficult pregnancy. The star revealed that she has been hospitalised due to illness while pregnant with her first child. She told her fans in a Q&A session on Instagram Stories that she's made two trips to hospital because of thyroiditis. 'Ended up in hospital twice over my first trimester for fluids and to monitor bub when my thyroiditis was at its peak!' she wrote. Dom also shared that she had lost six kilos since falling pregnant due to the illness and was 'scared of being judged for that'. 'I lost six kilos and feel like a shell of myself right now, so trying to put on weight and eat as much as I can while I still don't really have an appetite. It's a journey,' she said. Thyroiditis is a condition causing thyroid gland inflammation, often caused by the autoimmune disease Hashimoto's. Dom recently confirmed she will be a solo parent, days after announcing her pregnancy. The former reality TV star has split from her boyfriend Jarod Bogunovich, and deleted all traces of the Bondi skater from her social media. Domenica exclusively confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that she will be raising her child as a single mum, as she addressed the break-up rumours. 'I am incredibly excited about this next chapter in my life and feel truly empowered by my decision to step into motherhood on my own terms,' she said. 'While I will be welcoming this baby as a solo parent, I am grateful to have the support of the father in a co-parenting capacity.' Domenica, who rose to fame in 2022 on season nine of the hit series, said she is embracing this journey 'wholeheartedly'. 'Been a little MIA working on my greatest project the MAFS alum captioned her pregnancy announcement post. She added: 'Due September 2025.' Domenica is asking her fans to respect her privacy, as she explains that she is 'proud' that she has made 'the best decision' for herself, and her unborn child. 'This journey is one that I embrace wholeheartedly, with all its highs and lows, and I am beyond proud to be stepping into this role [as a single mum] with strength, love, and a deep sense of purpose,' she said. 'I also want to acknowledge and support others who choose to embark on parenthood alone - there is so much power in making the best decision for yourself and your child.'

Stereosonic returns to Australia and rebranded as new EDM festival - as haunting photo of famous raver who died tragically at age 22 resurfaces

Iconic Australian dance music festival, Stereosonic, is back in a new guise. Stereosonic co-founder Richie McNeill is set to launch the festival's successor, called Hypersonic. The festival will come to Sydney Showground on November 29 and Melbourne Showground on November 30. Social media sites for Hypersonic this week began teasing its return, describing it as a 'groundbreaking multi-genre' event. On the bill are Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Armin van Buren and Steve Aoki, among many more. Presale tickets go on sale at 12pm on August 21, and general tickets are available from August 22, with prices starting at $169.96. Stereosonic, which began in 2007, closed up shop by 2016, after the festival's American parent company, SFX Entertainment, filed for bankruptcy that year. Meanwhile, a haunting photo of a raver long associated with the Stereosonic music festival has resurfaced amid the news of the event's revival. Sydney bodybuilder and influencer Aziz Sergeyvich can be seen flaunting his impressive physique at a rave. Known as Zyzz, Sergeyvich died of a sudden heart attack at the age of 22, while taking a sauna in Thailand in 2011. In the photo, Zyzz can be seen posing with friends in front of a stage. With one hand around a bikini-clad girl, the fit raver can be seen flexing his bulging right bicep. Zyzz became synonymous with 'Muzz' dancing - a vigorous dance floor routine popular with fans of the kind of electronic music featured as Stereosonic. Muzzing features fluid upper body movement and arm gestures rather than fancy footwork. 'Every year since Zyzz's death, the culture I grew up with has slowly faded away,' wrote one fan in a tribute to the raver published in Vice in 2017. 'The Muzz dance is probably the last remaining echo of Zyzz's influence on hectic Muzza culture. 'A recurring staple of most of his videos, he perfected the art and encouraged the sport at every local music festival, from Defqon and Stereosonic to Two Tribes.' Russian-born, Zyzz moved to Australia with his family in the 90s, and was a strong student, interested in commerce and business studies. He slowly rose to fame by sharing videos of himself and his workouts on YouTube in 2007. Before his passing, he had amassed 60,000 fans on Facebook, developed a clothing line, a protein supplement, and had written a book called Zyzz's Bodybuilding Bible. He was also considered to be one of the very first social media influencers. Before flying off for his ill-fated trip to Thailand in July 2011, he asked his followers, 'Off to Thailand for a month this weekend, any traveller tips....' His last post came two days before he died, where he wrote, 'One year ago, and 10kgs lighter. 100kg now (90kg here) this size is the sweet spot for girls... Arnold status here I come.' Zyzz was found dead in early August after having a heart attack in a sauna. On the 10th anniversary of his passing in 2021 many of Zyzz's fans commemorated by posting tribute videos and pictures to social media and fan websites. Followers shared photos of the bodybuilder or themselves, after being inspired to work out by the buff social media star, who often stressed the importance of aesthetics and looking good.
