Kansas City Chiefs select SMU RB Brashard Smith at pick No. 228 in the 2025 NFL draft
Following a trade with the New England Patriots, the Kansas City Chiefs selected SMU running back Brashard Smith in the seventh round with the 228th pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
The Chiefs are reinforcing their running backs room with one of the many talented ball carriers in the draft. Smith is a player who can be utilized in numerous roles, boasting all-purpose yardage abilities, making him a potential asset in an Andy Reid offense.
After transferring from the University of Miami, Smith earned Third-team Associated Press All-American All-Purpose and First-team All-ACC honors with SMU. He led the team with 1,332 rushing yards on 235 carries and 14 rushing touchdowns, ranking fourth in the FBS with 1,977 all-purpose yards. He played in all 14 games with 10 starts.
The Chiefs have had great success lately in the draft with running backs, as starter Isiah Pacheco was notably selected in the seventh round, and undrafted free agent Carson Steele became a mainstay on the roster last season.

Josh Harris, others react to RFK Stadium bill
The Washington Commanders are another step closer to returning to RFK Stadium. Well, in this case, building a new stadium on the RFK campus. On Friday, the Washington D.C. City Council voted 9-3 in favor of the Commanders building a new, multi-use facility in the District. One of the votes in favor of the NFL franchise was Council Chairman Phil Mendelson, who previously opposed the project. The Commanders pledged an unprecedented $2.7 billion toward the project, which will include a 65,000-seat stadium that will be used year-round to host various events, such as major sporting events and concerts. The project also features 6,000 housing units, with 1,800 affordable housing units, retail space, and a community benefits agreement worth $50 million or more. The agreement also includes close to $1 billion in public funds, and around $1 billion in tax breaks for the Commanders. Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has been a huge proponent of bringing the NFL franchise back to D.C., and, of course, was thrilled with the latest developments.
