Notre Dame (Hingham) turns top-two girls' lacrosse battle with Wellesley into an emphatic rout
Fueled by five goals from the North Carolina-bound Connerty, the No. 1 Cougars (3-0) blitzed the No. 2 Raiders (1-1) and never relented. The Haggerty sisters, senior Caroline and eighth-grader Anna, added three goals apiece, and the Orlando sisters, senior Ava and junior Elle, spearheaded a stellar defensive effort.

NDA led, 4-2, through one quarter, 10-3 at halftime, and 15-3 through three, then entered cruise control in the fourth. Junior Taylor Watts helped the Cougars dominate the draw, ground balls, and possession the entire way.

'We know how powerful Wellesley is,' McGinnis said. 'Their offense is excellent. Their ball-handlers are excellent. They can score goals in batches. We knew that when we had the ball, we needed to make sure we finished. Otherwise, it was coming right back down our throats.'
Sadie Lopez, Ani Woodard, Grace Rooney, and goalie Adair Routh were also catalysts for the Cougars, who provided a steady dose of physicality and toughness in the rain.

Junior Tara Battaglino paced Wellesley with three goals, Olivia Comella added one, and Kaitlyn Uller, Alexa Heller, and Abby Beggans also contributed. Wellesley hung around early, but NDA simply had too much firepower.
'We knew it was going to be tough,' Wellesley coach Steve Balter said. 'That is definitely not the way we expected or wanted to play. What we just talked about is, 'What can we take from that?' '
The Cougars, who have captured three straight Division 2 state titles, have now won a whopping 52 consecutive in-state games. Their last loss to a Bay State foe came vs. Franklin on May 18, 2022. Connerty remembers it very clearly, as she had a disappointing 15th birthday.
There's no secret sauce. It's simply hard work, discipline, and execution, game after game.
'It's really cool,' Connerty said with a smile, 'but we're just looking to practice tomorrow and looking to Medfield on Wednesday.'

What channel is UNC-Arizona on? Time, TV schedule for Chapel Hill Super Regional Opener
What channel is UNC-Arizona on? Time, TV schedule for Chapel Hill Super Regional Opener Here's all the broadcasting information you need to know for Friday's Chapel Hill Super Regional Opener between UNC and Arizona. There's just 16 teams remaining in the 2025 NCAA Baseball Tournament, with UNC lucky enough to be amongst that Sweet 16. On Friday, in the Chapel Hill Super Regional from Boshamer Stadium, North Carolina will continue its postseason journey against the Arizona Wildcats. Arizona (42-18) swept its way through the Eugene (Ore.) Regional and extended its winning streak to eight games, while the Diamond Heels won the Chapel Hill Regional with a 14-4 drubbing of Oklahoma. UNC looked well on the way to a sweep of its own Regional, thanks to beating Holy Cross 4-0 and Oklahoma 11-6, but losing Sunday's rematch to the Sooners forced a winner-take-all game Monday. North Carolina struck early in its third game against the Sooners, with Hunter Stokely mashing a 2-run, 2-out double and Alex Madera grounding a single into the outfield – both in the first inning. Oklahoma responded with its first two runs in the second, only for the Diamond Heels to scoring the four eventual, game-winning runs in the third. The Wildcats started their hot streak to close out their regular season, taking the final two of three games from the Houston Cougars, to win their final series. Arizona's run continued through the Big 12 Tournament, with victories against BYU (4-1), top-seeded and fellow Super Regional team West Virginia (12-1), plus a 2-1 closeout against TCU in the Championship matchup. UNC opened its ACC Tournament run with a come-from-behind, 7-2 win over Boston College. North Carolina dispatched Florida State in the semifinals, 7-5, then overwhelmed Clemson with a 14-4 domination in the ACC Championship. Are you lucky enough to have Chapel Hill Super Regional tickets? Have a blast and fill the stands with Carolina Blue. In Monday's winner-take all game against Oklahoma, the Diamond Heels dominated in a 14-4 victory. Arizona is red-hot right now, winning its past eight games, but UNC presents a significantly tougher challenge than Utah Valley or Cal Poly. Simultaneously, the Wildcats will present a greater threat than Oklahoma or Holy Cross. With a packed Boshamer Stadium on Friday afternoon, combined with ace Jake Knapp likely taking the mound, North Carolina squeaks out a low-scoring win in its Super Regional opener. NCAA Tournament: Predictions, picks for 2025 Super Regionals
The final obstacle on the road to Omaha for the College World Series will take place this weekend across college baseball, as the super regional round of the NCAA Tournament begins Friday night. However, the super regionals will begin without Alabama, as the Crimson Tide failed to advance to this weekend. Yes, the Alabama Crimson Tide are no longer playing in the NCAA Tournament, as the Crimson Tide fell in the 2025 Hattiesburg Regional last week, going 0-2 with losses to both Miami and host Southern Miss. In fact, last week was a bit of a down one for the SEC entirely, as the conference saw a majority of their teams in the NCAA Tournament lose in the regional round. Because of this, four remain standing entering the super regionals, a pair of which will face each other. Here are predictions for each of the super regional series' this upcoming weekend, as well as which teams will be advancing to Omaha for the 2025 Men's College World Series. Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle Louisville Super Regional - Louisville vs. Miami A pair of unranked seeds from the ACC collide in the Louisville Super Regional as the Cardinals host Miami, who came out of the Hattiesburg Regional field that also included Alabama. Despite being from the same conference, Louisville and Miami have yet to meet this season, making this an intriguing series between two unranked seeds where a game three could be possible. Prediction: Louisville in 3 Corvallis Super Regional - Oregon State vs. Florida State One of the more high-profile super regional matchups this weekend takes place in Corvallis, Oregon where the No. 8 overall seed Oregon State Beavers host the No. 9 seeded Florida State Seminoles. Expect this matchup to live up to the hype it garners going in as well, with this series likely to advance to a game three. Prediction: Florida State in 3 Chapel Hill Super Regional - North Carolina vs. Arizona Chapel Hill is set to host a super regional series between No. 5 national seed North Carolina and Arizona. Arizona advanced past the Eugene Regional a week ago, but it will certainly be a tall task for the Wildcats here to come to North Carolina and win two games. Prediction: North Carolina in 2 Auburn Super Regional - Auburn vs. Coastal Carolina The Auburn Super Regional will feature a pair of national seeds facing off as the No. 4 seeded Tigers host No. 13 Coastal Carolina. Don't be surprised if this series goes either way, but for the sake of a prediction, I'll go with the Tigers at home. Prediction: Auburn in 3 Los Angeles Super Regional - UCLA vs. UTSA Los Angeles will play host to a super regional between No. 15 overall seed UCLA and UTSA, a team that shocked the college baseball world a week ago by upsetting Texas in Austin. Don't sleep on the Roadrunners to upset another ranked seed here, but it will be a tough task against the Bruins in Los Angeles. Prediction: UCLA in 3 Durham Super Regional - Duke vs. Murray State After advancing out of the Athens Regional, Duke will now host the Durham Super Regional against another team that is coming off an upset-filled weekend in Murray State, who advanced out of the Oxford Regional. Two unranked seeds, this could be where Murray State's run ends at Duke, but you should not count out the Racers entirely either. Prediction: Duke in 2 Baton Rouge Super Regional - LSU vs. West Virginia After narrowing advancing past the regionals, No. 6 national seeded LSU will host the Baton Rouge Super Regional where the Tigers are set to welcome West Virginia to town. Facing a good Mountaineers team, I expect LSU to take care of business here, sending a second SEC team to Omaha. Prediction: LSU in 2 Fayetteville Super Regional - Arkansas vs. Tennessee We conclude with a SEC matchup that is likely the most anticipated super regional series as No. 3 national seeded Arkansas hosts No. 14 seed Tennessee in Fayetteville. The Razorbacks and Volunteers met in Fayetteville for the regular season series finale from May 15-17, a series in which Arkansas took two-of-three headlined by an 8-4 win during Game 3. Prediction: Arkansas in 3 Contact/Follow us @RollTideWire on X, and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Alabama news, notes and opinion.
