
TRA enhances telecom network readiness for Khareef Dhofar
The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen service infrastructure and deliver a seamless communication experience to the thousands of visitors who flock to Dhofar each year for the monsoon season. TRA confirmed that the enhancements align with national objectives to support digital transformation and elevate the overall telecom experience for residents and tourists alike.
As part of the preparations, 33 new stations have been installed - including seven along Sultan Said bin Taimur Road - to expand coverage across the governorate. Additionally, 432 existing telecommunications stations have been upgraded to advanced networks to improve bandwidth efficiency and boost capacity.
TRA also noted significant strides in performance and service stability, with 189 station connections upgraded and 31 mobile stations deployed to serve high-traffic and temporary locations.
Crucially, 5G technology has now been activated in 108 stations, enhancing speed and network responsiveness. Technical and field teams have been strategically deployed across Dhofar to provide rapid response capabilities in case of any emergency disruptions during the season.
Given the surge in tourists during khareef, dependable telecommunications services are vital. TRA emphasised that it will continue to monitor network quality and performance in real time to ensure optimal service levels.
Oman continues to make strong progress in digital infrastructure, with Dhofar's seasonal demand serving as a key driver for accelerated technological upgrades.

‘Land of the Coasts' event launched in Taqah
TAQAH: The 'Land of the Coasts' event opened at Taqah Park as part of the Khareef Dhofar Season 2025. Organised by Dhofar Municipality in collaboration with the Office of the Wali of Taqah, the event aims to enrich the tourism experience and provide a lively, family-friendly environment during the governorate's peak season. ‘Osara' a coastal tourist destination for khareef
The 'Osara' tourism project, situated on Raysut Beach in Salalah, stands out as a prominent tourist and entertainment destination accompanying Khareef Dhofar Season 2025. This Omani youth-led initiative was launched in 2022. This year, 'Osara' has undergone new developmental works across several of its facilities, including a redesigned waterfront to enhance the visitor experience. This involved expanding sea-view areas, creating open seating arrangements, and adding restaurants and cafes that offer direct beach views. 'Osara' a coastal tourist destination for khareef Majid bin Samhan al Mashali, one of the project's founders, said: 'Since the project's inception, we have been keen to introduce innovative ideas that align with visitors' aspirations. We continuously strive to develop various 'Osara' facilities to enhance the quality of the tourism experience.' He noted the addition of a new area for electric games this year within the adventure zone, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for children and their families. In addition to the waterfront and games area, the site features a traditional market showcasing Omani handicrafts and traditional products for which Dhofar Governorate is renowned. Various retail outlets are also distributed throughout the venue, contributing to the support of productive families and local brands.
