Arsenal reignite interest in Newcastle and Chelsea target as asking price slashe
Arsenal are showing an interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi again, as the defender heads into the final year of his contract.
The 24-year-old was a target for the Gunners 12 months ago, along with a number of other clubs including Newcastle, Liverpool and his former team Chelsea.
The Eagles stuck firm to their lofty asking price of £70m and no deal was done, with Guehi staying put and going on to win the FA Cup with Palace.
However, the England international's contract at Selhurst Park expires next year so his price tag will be significantly lower this summer.
The Mirror report that with Guehi now much more affordable than a year ago, Arsenal's interest has been reignited, although their pursuit of him will not be straightforward.

Not only will there be plenty of competition again from their Premier League rivals, but the 23-cap England international may take some convincing to move to the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta has established a very reliable partnership at centre-back in Gabriel and William Saliba, one that will not easily be broken.
Gabriel signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal earlier this month and the club is working on Saliba doing the same.
There is interest from Real Madrid in the Frenchman and the Gunners are very keen to keep hold of the impressive centre-back.
That puts in question their interest in Guehi as he will not want to move to any club where he would not be a guaranteed starter.
The Athletic report that Arteta wants genuine competition to his first-choice central defenders and Arsenal made a move for Bournemouth's Dean Huijsen before he made his £50m transfer to Real Madrid.
Newcastle made three bids for Guehi last summer, going as high as £60m, but could not convince Palace to sell.
With a return to the Champions League, the Magpies could come back with another offer as he is now likely available for less than they bid in 2024.

Guehi has offered little on his future, saying before Palace beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final: 'My only focus is this game.
'My only focus is the fact that I am under contract at Palace. So as far as I am concerned, I am a Palace player.'
Last month The Sun reported that Guehi may choose to run down his contract at Crystal Palace and see his options expand further when he will be available on a free transfer next summer.
Real Madrid and Barcelona have been touted as possible destinations for the defender if he were to leave Selhurst Park on a free.

Arsenal have seen their chances of signing Athletic Bilbao superstar Nico Williams take a hit after the winger was reported to have confirmed interest in a move elsewhere Nico Williams has told Bayern Munich he is open to joining them in a blow to Arsenal hopes. To be successful, Bayern will need to stump up Williams' €58 million (£48.1m) release clause to prise him away from Bilbao. But it is the Basque star's salary that could prove most prohibitive. Mirror Football understands that the 22-year-old wants to be paid more than £300,000-a-week to make him one of the bigger earners in Europe. That figure itself made a move difficult for Arsenal, while Barcelona, who have also been heavily linked with Williams, saw their plans to sign the player damaged by the demands. Athletic Bilbao have not given up hope of retaining their talisman's services either however. Reports in Spain claim that the La Liga side will offer an increase in salary and an immediate release clause should he extend his deal until 2027. After seeing Williams turn down multiple transfers away from the club in the past, the Basque side do not think its implausible to happen again. Athletic will hope their qualification for the Champions League proves helpful to their cause. Williams finished this season with 11 goals and seven assists for Bilbao after truly breaking out in 2024 with an impressive campaign as Spain won the Euros. Arsenal have long admired the winger but have been less keen to take on his wage demands. His current club are adamant they want to retain Williams' services over cashing in however. "I believe we have a winning and interesting project for everyone, and Nico is part of that project, just like many other players," Bilbao president Jon Uriarte told Spanish outlet El Correo. "The project becomes easier if we keep our players - and I believe Nico and the rest of the squad have a very exciting year ahead." Speaking after he decided to remain with Bilbao last summer, Williams said: 'Many teams want you, I've had many offers to do things that another player would have done, but I'm happy here, Bilbao is my home. My heart is red and white." Though he hinted that may be a temporary situation when he added: "I had a talk with my parents and my brother, and we decided it was best to stay for another year.'

Reid 30 years on: 'I had to find £700 from somewhere'
Former Sunderland manager Peter Reid - who twice won the Black Cats promotion into the Premier League - has been looking back on taking charge of the club 30 years ex-Everton and Manchester City player took the reigns in March 1995 with Sunderland battling relegation in the second tier, but with seven games of the season remaining, Reid oversaw just the one loss and managed to keep them to BBC Radio Newcastle in a special episode, Reid recalled: "They were great games, the Sheffield United one was a very important one and I always thank Craig [Russell] for coming on as a sub and getting the winner," Reid said."To be fair, the crowd played their part and obviously the players, the players were magnificent. I think we went to Derby and beat them as well which was a fantastic result."After the Sheffield United game, I remember going to the chairman and saying 'listen I need to get something for the players so give me £500 to take them out' and the bill came to about £1200 so I had to find £700 from somewhere."So I was fining the lads for mis-passing the ball in training and everything and once I got the £700 I told them 'it's over now lads' and I told them the story and they took it all in the spirit that it was meant."
