Two men found dead on railway tracks in Assam's Dhemaji; probe underway: Police
Police are investigating whether the deceased — Uttam Sonowal (27) and Amit Sonowal (28), both residents of a nearby village — were hit by a train or if their bodies were dumped on the tracks. 'It is being investigated whether they were walking on the tracks or if the bodies were dumped. All angles are being probed,' a Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) officer said.
The officer said that the Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered the bodies around 4 am near the Borgaon railway gate, a few kilometres from the Dhemaji Railway Station.

'Initial investigation suggests the two victims may have been under the influence of alcohol, but police will provide a conclusive statement after they receive the postmortem reports. It is not clear why they were on the tracks at that hour of the night,' Dhemaji's senior superintendent of police (SSP) Hitesh Chandra Roy said.

Railway officials said the duo may have been hit by the Kamrup Express, which was passing through Dhemaji district in the early hours.
Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage and other forensic evidence to ascertain the exact sequence of events, Roy added.

Two held in Badaun for placing stones on railway track for reel
Two youths were arrested in Badaun for placing stones on railway tracks to record a video reel. The incident took place on the Bareilly-Kasganj rail route and caused minor damage to a passenger train engine and it could have led to a serious accident, said officials on Friday. Following the incident, the train pilot immediately informed the Government Railway Police (GRP). A case was registered under the Railway Act against unknown people. GRP Badaun Post Commander Ram Pratap Singh led the investigation, during which two residents of Ward 3 in Kachhla — Mejuddin Miyan and Mujer Miyan — were identified as being involved. 'Both accused were arrested by the GRP on Thursday,' the officer said. 'During questioning, they admitted to placing the stones to shoot a reel for social media. They claimed they did not intend to cause harm, but the train arrived earlier than expected and hit the small stones. Realising the seriousness of what they had done, they fled the scene immediately.' After their arrest, the accused were produced before the Railway Court, which ordered their judicial custody. They were sent to jail pending further legal proceedings.

Another mobile snatched on rly platform in city
Bhopal: A case of mobile phone snatching was reported from Platform Number 6 of Bhopal Railway Station. The incident occurred when a passenger was heading toward the platform after purchasing a general ticket from the booking counter. A miscreant approached him from behind and snatched his mobile phone before fleeing the scene. As per GRP, the victim, Brijesh Shakya, 39, a resident of JP Narayan Ward No. 14 in Berasia, arrived at the Bhopal Railway Station with his family to board a train to Ujjain. After buying a general ticket at the counter, he was walking toward the platform when an unidentified man snatched his mobile phone, valued at Rs15,000, from his hand.

Assam: 8 Bangladeshi nationals arrested in South Salmara-Mankachar district
Silchar: Eight Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in Assam's South Salmara-Mankachar district while allegedly trying to cross the India-Bangladesh international border, police said.
