Butler basketball schedules two-game series with perennial NCAA tournament team
Butler basketball scheduled a home-and-home with Boise State, a program it has met each of the past two seasons. The Bulldogs will host the Broncos on Dec. 6 at Hinkle Fieldhouse before making a return trip to Idaho for the 2026-27 season. Times and TV assignments have not yet been announced.
It's a quality addition to the schedule as Boise State has averaged 24.8 wins per season the past four seasons, and have three NCAA tournament berths in that span.
Each of the two meetings in the all-time series have happened at neutral sites. Butler's season ended April 2 in Las Vegas at the inaugural College Basketball Crown, where the Broncos won 100-93 despite a career-high 30 points from Finley Bizjack. Butler won the first meeting between the two, 70-56, to secure fifth place in the ESPN Invitational on Nov. 26, 2023 in Orlando.
The Bulldogs are headed to White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia for their early season multi-team event. It was announced Tuesday that they would play South Carolina and Virginia there and avoid a second game against Northwestern, which Butler will play in the Indy Classic on Dec. 20 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The rest of the known schedule includes games against Southern Indiana on Nov. 5, IU-Indy on Nov. 8 and Chicago State on Nov. 11 all at Hinkle Fieldhouse to open the season. Butler then will conclude its home-and-home series with SMU on Nov. 15 before heading to the two-game event Nov. 21 and 23.
The Bulldogs will return home to play Eastern Michigan on Dec. 2.
Two open preseason exhibitions were scheduled against in-state opponents. Another two-year agreement was scheduled with Notre Dame and then Indiana State was added. Former Butler player Matthew Graves is in his second season leading the Sycamores.
The Bulldogs had a late addition to their 2025 recruiting class with Guerin Catholic's Bryson Cardinal, the son of former NBA forward Brian Cardinal. He's among four other freshmen heading to campus, and includes Lawrence North guard Azavier Robinson.

J.K. Dobbins fantasy football preview 2025: Stats, season outlook, predictions
Rotoworld Staff, J.K. Dobbins 2025 Fantasy Preview 2024: A late April signing, Dobbins ended up the lead back in an inadequate Chargers committee. The injury-cursed former Raven did begin the season with shocking back-to-back 100-yard rushing performances but never again reached the century mark on the ground. Increasingly less efficient as the year wore on, Dobbins also missed Weeks 13-16 with a(nother) knee injury. What's changed: Recognizing that his 2024 was something of a best-case outcome, the Chargers let Dobbins walk in free agency rather than hitting on 17. Dobbins' open market waiting period increased from 2024's one month to three, though he again landed in a place where he could actually do fantasy damage. Outlook: If the Broncos aren't ready to trust second-round rookie R.J. Harvey on the money downs, Dobbins could see far more work than fantasy managers are expecting. The problem is, his 'fantasy value' would still be more about the points he's taking from Harvey than creating for himself. A low-ceiling later-round flier, Dobbins' floor also isn't much to call home about. Get personalized fantasy football insights based on your league settings with FantasyLife+. Sean Payton reacts to ESPN's prediction that Broncos will bench Bo Nix in 2027
In ESPN's recent power rankings predicting the NFL's future, Seth Walder made a bold prediction that quarterback Bo Nix would lose his starting job with the Denver Broncos in 2027. After the Broncos' joint practice with the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday, coach Sean Payton was asked for his initial thoughts on Walder's bold prediction. "I didn't see that," Payton said. "My initial thoughts are like, 2027 seems like an eternity from now, you know? And so, I think that's one of the challenges maybe with the media landscape -- that, you know, it's gonna draw clicks and everything. But I can't worry about Nick from ESPN, and I can't worry about 2027, but I can focus on this year. But let's find him in 2027 and see where we're at." Nix was named a Pro Bowl alternate last season after surpassing 4,200 yards from scrimmage and scoring 34 touchdowns as a rookie. We'll see how Walder's prediction holds up two years from now.
