Man arrested after threatening Colorado campers with axe
Steven Sanguinetti was taken into custody by Saguache County sheriff's deputies who responded to calls to 9-1-1 on July 19.
Two campers told the deputies they had confronted a man who was going through their campsite. That man left but watched them from a distance, per the sheriff's office.
When the campers tried to leave in their vehicle, the man, later identified as Sanguinetti, approached them with an axe and began swinging it.
Deputies found Sanguinetti a short time after arriving at the scene and took him into custody. Sanguinetti faces felony menacing, harassment, assault, and criminal impersonation charges.
The incident happened at the Penitente Campground about 10 miles northeast of Del Norte. Sanguinetti was taken to the Rio Grande County Jail in Del Norte by Saguache deputies.
Rio Grande County Sheriff Anne Robinson said Sanguinetti fought with detention deputies at the facility. He now faces felony charges in another case filed as a result of the altercation.
Public records show Sanguinetti currently resides in Aurora.

Pursuit suspects allegedly connected to string of San Fernando Valley burglaries
A pair of pursuit suspects arrested on Tuesday have been connected to a string of burglaries in the San Fernando Valley, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The pursuit happened near the Baldwin Hills area near Jefferson Boulevard and La Brea Avenue. The Los Angeles Police Department said that one of their helicopters spotted the vehicle and requested that patrol units stop the car at about 10:45 a.m. The suspects sped away from officers and crashed into a parked car roughly 25 minutes later near Wall and 98th streets in South LA. Following the collision, the suspects jumped out of the car and tried to run away from police. Officers immediately arrested one of them, but the other evaded police for roughly three hours. Officers eventually found the suspect at 2:30 p.m. Detectives said they were connected to some of the burglaries in the San Fernando Valley, but could not provide further details. Last Thursday, Encino neighbors presented a list of demands to LA city leaders following a string of burglaries, home invasions and the killing of "American Idol" executive Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas Deluca. "These daily crimes have shaken our community and underscore the urgent need for action and improved protection of public safety in Encino," the community letter says. The letter also called for an increase in LAPD resources in Encino, the enforcement of existing no-camping laws in the Sepulveda Basin, and an accountability plan.

Colorado man turns himself in on charges of child sexual exploitation
A 33-year-old Colorado man has been arrested and now faces 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a child after a federal, state, and local law enforcement task force allegedly found child sexual abuse material depicting a child under 12 years old on his hard drive. Michael Anthony Reyes, of Longmont, turned himself in at the Boulder County Jail on an arrest warrant on Friday, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said on Tuesday. Boulder County officials were notified that an FBI agent received the material in question from someone in the Boulder area in an undercover operation. Investigators say they served court orders for information from electronic service providers, identified Reyes as a suspect, and served a search warrant at his Longmont home on Sept. 3, 2024. They seized several electronic devices and sent them to the Regional Computer Forensic Lab for processing. An arrest warrant was issued for Reyes on the 20 counts, which are considered a class 3 "extraordinary risk" felony, and days after turning himself in, he was released from the Boulder County Jail on a $20,000 secured bond on the condition that he not have contact with anyone under 18 and not access social media or cloud storage devices. Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty touted the work of investigators while highlighting the problem of sex crimes against children. "Since the Boulder County Digital Forensics Lab started working these investigations, three things have been made clear. First, there are individuals distributing and using child sexual abuse material in every community; so, we are fortunate to have this outstanding team pursuing these cases in Boulder County. Second, these cases involve actual victims because of what the videos depict. Finally, in this jurisdiction, the investigators and prosecutors will work hard to search out offenders, protect victims, and fight for justice," he said in a statement. Court records show Reyes has not yet hired or been assigned an attorney as of Tuesday. Man arrested with fully loaded AR-15 and knives outside Palm Beach airport frequented by Trump
Authorities in Florida arrested a man early Tuesday morning after discovering a loaded AR-15 rifle and several knives inside a rental vehicle parked in a restricted area at a Palm Beach County Airport, according to law enforcement officials. Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) deputies responded around 7:10 a.m. after airport operations staff reported a suspicious individual standing outside a dark-colored vehicle in a secure parking zone. When deputies arrived, they found the man, later identified as Michael Rodrigues, 41, of no known local address, outside the vehicle, reportedly getting dressed. Deputies determined the vehicle was a rental and opened the glove compartment to retrieve the rental agreement. Inside, they found a fully loaded AR-15 magazine. A full search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded AR-15 rifle and multiple knives hidden beneath a blanket on the seat. The man was taken into custody without incident and is currently being interviewed by detectives. Rodrigues has not yet been formally charged, but the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are working to obtain a search warrant for further examination of the vehicle and any related evidence. The airport is known to be used by President Trump, though officials confirmed Trump is not currently in Florida.
