India plane crash elicits all sorts of wild theories in @Trending
@Gabbar0099 The Air India plane first crashed directly on the BJ Medical College UG hostel's mess building. Many MBBS students have lost their lives and many interns having lunch in mess are heavily injured.
@DrDhruvchauhan It's a black day for the medical fraternity. My hand trembles as i write this knowing that the Air India flight crash on BJMC medical college UG hostel in Ahmedabad has cost the lives of medical students, doctors and others. Prayers with all the lost souls and those undergoing treatment.
@homelander_yyy Poor train services in India push people to buy plane tickets, but when plane crashes occur, we always see the same thing. Someone will blame the pilot, someone will blame AIR INDIA, and some shameless people will blame the Modi government. The real problems never get fixed. The families who lost loved ones deserve more than just our prayers.
@DarkReacto This accident has been in the pipeline for quite some time. Air India is an absolute basket case of an airline where some pilots have qualified due to somebody else taking their exams for them. Their whole culture is about cheating.
@anwaribrahim I was deeply distressed to learn of the crash of Air India Flight 171 near Ahmedabad, India. On behalf of the Government and people of Malaysia, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of all those affected. We share in India's sorrow and stand in full solidarity as relief efforts continue.
@Saul_Sadka The gloating, delighted reactions to the devastating crash of Air India Flight 171 in Ahmedabad are exactly what Israelis experienced after October 7. Who are these nasty people? India and Israel share the same evil enemies, and they should work together to defeat them.
@RShahzaddk Blame game begins before the investigation even starts! India's knee-jerk reaction to blame Pakistan for the Air India crash without evidence is not only premature but also reckless. Let's prioritize facts over fiction and ensure the safety of all citizens. #Ahmedabad
@Swamy39 When a train derailed in 1950s, Lal Bahadur Shashtri resigned. On the same morality I demand PM Modi, HM Amit Shah and Civil Aviation Naidu resign so that a free& fair inquiry is held. All that Modi and associates have been doing so far is gallivanting which must stop must stop.

India's Modi visits Ghana en route to BRICS summit
ACCRA, GHANA -Prime Minister Narendra Modi is due in Ghana on Wednesday, the first Indian leader to visit the cocoa-rich country in three decades as the Asian nation competes with China and Russia for economic influence in Africa. He is scheduled to hold bilateral trade and cooperation talks with Ghana's President John Mahama, who has been in power since January. Modi is also due to address the Ghanaian parliament in the capital, Accra, and meet members of the Indian community in the largest gold-producing country in Africa. Accra is the first stop in a tour that will take the Indian premier to Caribbean and South American countries. The world's most populous country has close ties with Russia but rivals China -- the two powers vying for more influence in Africa. Last month, the Indian leader attended the G7 summit in Canada, demonstrating his determination to carry the voice of the "Global South", acting as a "bridge" between various players on the international scene, his foreign minister told AFP. Modi will remain in Accra until midday on Thursday, before flying to Trinidad and Tobago, then on to Argentina and Brazil. He will attend a summit of the BRICS group of emerging economies in Rio de Janeiro on July 6 and 7. Before returning to India, he will also stop in Namibia, a southern Africa country which in March elected its first woman president, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. India is one of Ghana's main trading partners and is the leading destination for Ghanaian exports, primarily due to Indian gold imports. According to the Indian foreign ministry, bilateral trade between the two countries reached $3.1 billion in 2024–2025. Ghana's main exports to India include gold, cocoa, cashew nuts and timber, while India exports pharmaceuticals, agricultural machinery, transport vehicles, electrical equipment, plastics, iron and steel and alcoholic beverages. The last time an Indian prime minister visited Ghana was in 1995. India says there are around 15,000 Indians living in Ghana, some of whom have been in the country since its independence nearly 70 years ago.

Modi pushes further India-Africa cooperation on Ghana visit
ACCRA, GHANA - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday outlined plans for deeper ties between his country and Africa, as New Delhi increasingly vies for a stronger economic presence on the continent along with China and Russia. In a speech to Ghana's parliament, Modi highlighted a major rail project that opened in the west African nation last year, financed by the India Export-Import Bank. He also underlined his country's expanding diplomatic development and business footprint in Africa. "Over 200 projects across the continent enhance connectivity, infrastructure and Industrial capacity," Modi said. On the political front he welcomed "the establishment of Ghana-India Parliamentary Friendship Society in your parliament". Modi's visit is the first to Ghana by an Indian leader in three decades. But India's rival China remains the most important backer of infrastructure across the continent, a position only strengthened as the United States and other Western powers slash aid programmes. In a meeting Wednesday, Modi and Ghanaian President John Mahama agreed to deepen security and mining ties. In November 2024, the Indian prime minister visited Nigeria, discussing trade and security at a time when Indian companies had expressed interest in investing in Nigerian industries including steel. The Indian prime minister also on Thursday called for a greater global diplomatic role for both his country and Africa, warning that "the world order created after the Second World War is changing fast". GLOBAL SOUTH'S VOICE Modi noted that the African Union had been admitted as a permanent member to the G20 while India held the rotating presidency of the bloc. Progress on worldwide challenges including climate change, diplomacy, "terrorism" and pandemics "cannot come without giving voice to the Global South", he added. India, the world's most populous country and a nuclear-armed power, has close ties with Russia but is often in rivalry with China. Resource-rich Ghana is Modi's first stop in a tour that will take the Indian premier to four other countries in Africa, the Caribbean and South America. The visit to Accra came as he made his way to Brazil for a summit of the BRICS group of emerging economies on Sunday and Monday. Highlighting his own country's economic development aspirations to become a "developed nation by 2047," Modi said "India remains a committed partner in Africa's development journey."

Musk vs Trump takes an unexpected turn after feud
Billionaire Elon Musk seemingly put aside his differences with President of the United States of America (US) Donald Trump. The X boss praised Trump for resolving several serious conflicts around the world. In a tweet, Musk said he will give credit where credit is due. He was responding to a message shared by Trump on his social media platform, Truth Social. The post read that Trump's representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis today on Gaza. 'Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize the 60 Day ceasefire, during which time we will work with all parties to end the war. The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring peace, will deliver this final proposal. I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this deal, because it will not get better,' wrote Trump. Earlier, the pair were in a spat over the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which US Senate passed, yesterday. Musk strongly opposed the bill. However, Trump shared that he was aware of the bill before endorsing him for president. 'Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more rocket launches, satellites, or electric car production, and our country would save a fortune,' Trump shared. The US president also added that perhaps the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) should investigate Musk. He claimed that lots of money could be saved. Before his unexpected praise for Trump, Musk had criticised the Republican Party on X, calling it a 'Porky Pig Party' over its support of the new bill. He warned that the legislation would raise the debt ceiling by $5-trillion and described it as 'debt slavery.' He also floated the idea that it might be time to form a new political party, accusing the Republicans of failing to act in the interests of American citizens.
