Taylor Swift's impact on the Kansas City Chiefs has gone viral on social media.
Newsweek has reached out to a Chiefs spokesperson via email for comment.
The Context
Swift is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and the couple were first linked nearly two years ago in July 2023. At the time, the NFL star attended the "Cruel Summer" singer's record-busting Eras Tour in Kansas City, Missouri. Later that same year, she was seen in the crowd at a handful of his football games, and by October 2023, they confirmed their romance at a Saturday Night Live after-party.
Today, their relationship appears to be getting serious, as Kelce hinted on a recent episode of his New Heights podcast—which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce—that he's living with Swift.
"We've got chimneys and we've got furniture," the Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? host told listeners, seemingly referring to his girlfriend by using "we."

On Wednesday, May 14, imdoeproblem took to X, formerly Twitter, to share a message about Swift's effect on the Chiefs.
The X account reposted an announcement from ESPN about a docuseries coming out later this year. "One of the most storied franchises in football history gives an inside look into a modern-day dynasty," ESPN's note read. "The Kingdom coming this fall."
"Taylor Swift has took me places no man could," @imdoeproblem added alongside the network's news.
At the time of publication, @imdoeproblem's post racked up more than 402,600 views and 11,000 likes.

Earlier this year, Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt spoke out about how Swift has impacted the team.
"Indirectly, the NFL has seen an impact," Hunt said in a CNBC Sport videocast in February. "Certainly, our fan base took a big leap forward last year—particularly with female, specifically young female fans."
What People Are Saying
In the comments underneath the X post, imdoeproblem elaborated further on Swift's role within the NFL.
X user LMariwithane wrote in a message with over 3,600 views and 77 likes: "Never thought I would care about this sport, but here I am."
In response, imdoeproblem said: "I still don't care about the sport. Just this one player."
twogravesonegun shared in a note with over 3,800 views and 72 likes: "I genuinely hate football and yet I know the names of players, I know the name of the coach, I know which games they've won in the last two seasons. It's terrifying. Taylor's influence is unstoppable."
imdoeproblem replied: "You tweeted this from my brain."
adityafear7969 added: "I would not have gaf [give a f***] about Football if Tayprincess didn't."
imdoeproblem said: "Absolutely."
What Happens Next
The Chiefs' new schedule was recently released, and the team will begin their preseason on August 9. Their first regular season game is set to take place on Friday, September 5, against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Historically, Swift has supported Kelce from the stands, so it's likely fans will see more of the 14-time Grammy Award winner soon, following a hiatus from the spotlight post-Eras Tour.

Taylor Swift's Net Worth Set to Dramatically Change

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Taylor Swift's net worth is about to change now that the pop star has ownership of her entire music catalog, experts tell Newsweek. In a letter shared via her website on May 30, Swift announced that she had bought back the rights to the original recordings of her first six albums: Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation. Following a dispute with her former record label, Big Machine Records, the "Cruel Summer" singer began rerecording her early songs, adding "Taylor's Version" to each title. In 2019, Scooter Braun acquired Big Machine through his company Ithaca Holdings. As part of the deal, the record executive obtained the masters to Swift's first six albums, which he later sold to Shamrock Holdings. Now, however, in addition to the original recordings, Swift owns all of her music videos, album art, photography, unreleased songs, and concert films. "To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it," Swift said in her letter. "All I've ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright with no strings attached, no partnership, with full autonomy." What Is Taylor Swift's Net Worth? Swift was named a billionaire by Forbes in October 2023, and her current net worth is $1.6 billion. The publication reported that a significant portion of her income is from music royalties and touring. Last year, the 14-time Grammy Award winner wrapped up her record-breaking Eras Tour, which became the highest-grossing concert tour in history. The tour ran from March 2023 to December 2024, raking in approximately $2 billion. Taylor Swift performs onstage during the Eras Tour in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on November 24, 2023. Buda Mendes/TAS23/Getty Images for TAS Rights Management Per Billboard, which cited anonymous sources, the "Fortnight" singer paid approximately $360 million for the rights to all of her music. Despite the reported hefty price tag, experts tell Newsweek her income will increase. "Ownership of the six masters will undoubtedly improve Taylor's take-home pay," New York University professor Larry Miller, who is also the executive director of the Sony Audio Institute for Music Business and Technology and is the director of the Music Business Program, told Newsweek. "Under Braun's and Shamrock's ownership, Taylor declined requests to license the original masters for film and TV. Now they'll be licensed, and the old, much-loved masters will generate revenue for the rest of her life—and beyond." He added: "Taylor has a powerful, trusted relationship with hundreds of millions of fans, and she can reignite interest in those six albums in a way that no other artist, company or investor can." "Swift's music catalog generates over $100 million per year from streaming alone, and of course, that will increase now that Swift owns the rights to her earlier recordings as well. The question is, how long it will take for her to recoup the reported amount of $360 million she paid for those rights," Drew Nobile, an associate professor of Music Theory at the University of Oregon, shared. He added that Swifties—the affectionate term for Swift's fandom—who previously avoided listening to her original recordings, "might now feel they can freely listen to the older versions, which would further increase those recordings' values." "So it might be the case that the original recordings are worth more when owned by Swift than they would be in anyone else's hands," he said. "This masters ownership opens up entirely new revenue streams for Taylor," Tatiana Cirisano, vice president of Music Strategy at MIDiA Research, told Newsweek. "She will absolutely see her take-home income increase, although I can't currently speculate by how much." Joe Bennett, a forensic musicologist and professor at Berklee College of Music, echoed similar sentiments. "Reacquiring the masters will almost certainly increase her income, and may well repay the reported $360 million investment," he said. Swift May Already Be Seeing the Benefits It's been just over two weeks since Swift announced her news, and Nobile said it's likely she's already "recapturing a good chunk of her investment." "Any time there's a big Taylor Swift news story, a lot of money moves around. She's a one-woman economic force," Nobile told Newsweek. "So I'll bet data will show a spike in streams of her older albums right after this deal was announced." Cirisano said: "Fans who were not streaming the original versions of her first six albums in solidarity can do so now, and this is already leading to a streaming boost." Photo-illustration by Newsweek/Getty/Canva Looking at the Bigger Picture Bennett said that while Swift's purchase has financial benefits, "the bigger picture is symbolic and artistic." "Swift has always played the long game, fully aware that every business decision is examined in detail by fans, the media, and the wider industry," he said. "So this is as much about artistic legacy and control as it is about net worth—and it sets a precedent for the artist/label relationship, in an age when it's easier than ever for artists at all levels to create and own high-quality master sound recordings." Jocelyn Neal, a professor of Music and adjunct professor of American Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, agreed. "Swift's acquisition of her original albums' masters is more significant for her than what can be measured by financial gain," Neal told Newsweek. "For her and her fans, the principle of her owning her own creations is what matters. For her whole career, she has talked about her music as the result of her own sweat and hard work, a perspective she repeated in the letter she posted. So while she stands to profit financially from this deal, the moral victory she and her fans feel is worth more to her brand in the long run," Neal said. Cirisano noted that it's "unusual for the music industry" for an artist's "name, image, and likeness rights" to be "in the same place." As such, this gives Swift "ample flexibility when it comes to opportunities like licensing her music for films, games, etc." "The world is officially her oyster, even more than it was already—I wouldn't be surprised to see a Taylor Swift theme park someday," Cirisano said.

Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift enjoy rare night out at Stanley Cup Final Game 4

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift might be enchanted with hockey now. The star couple was on hand at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, for Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Panthers and Oilers, won 5-4 by Edmonton in overtime, evening the series at two games apiece. Advertisement Kelce wore a red top with red shorts as he rocked a white and red 'Palm Tree Crew' Panthers hat while Swift appeared to keep her look neutral in an off-white top and bottom. Swift, 35, has had plenty of viral hockey moments in life, including a reveal of the 2009-10 Predators then-new third jerseys during a concert in Nashville and, four years later, taking a picture with former Hurricanes star Joel Skinner, even holding up his jersey. She also donned Islanders gear in a skit with Jimmy Fallon for the 'Tonight Show' in 2015. Kelce, who previously posted about his love of playoff hockey, and his brother Jason debated in October on the 'New Heights' podcast about which NHL players could also play in the NFL, and they named Oilers star Connor McDavid as one who could. Getty Images In April, a source told Page Six that Swift and Kelce have enjoyed a 'special' offseason, which has largely been low-key after the Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Eagles. Advertisement 'They are making the most of their time off together. They are hanging out with friends, too. It's a special time for them,' the source said. The two were spotted last month in Philadelphia to celebrate Mother's Day, though before that, they opted out of the Met Gala in New York due to scheduling issues. Kelce, who announced earlier this offseason that he is coming back to the Chiefs for at least one more year, will likely have more of Swift at games this year as she is not touring this coming season. 'Taylor is really looking forward to the upcoming NFL season,' a source told People on Thursday. Not just because she loves supporting Travis, but because for the first full season since they started dating, she's not juggling a packed tour schedule. There Are New Reports On Taylor Swift's Relationship With Travis Kelce After Her "Demanding" And "Packed" Work Schedule

Taylor Swift is enjoying her time off after finishing her record-breaking Eras Tour last year. The tour launched in 2023 and made history as the highest-grossing tour ever with over $2 billion in ticket sales. It was comprised of 149 shows and took Taylor all across the globe, from the US and Canada to Asia and Latin America, before concluding in December. Since then, she's been spending quality time with Travis Kelce, whom she began dating in 2023, and as the upcoming NFL season approaches, sources say she's also looking forward to supporting him on the sidelines. A source tells People, "Taylor is really looking forward to the upcoming NFL season. Not just because she loves supporting Travis, but because for the first full season since they started dating, she's not juggling a packed tour schedule." Related: Here Are 16 Actors Who Saved Their Skin By Turning Down Roles In Movies That People Notoriously Hated Of course, Taylor managed to attend Travis's games even in the midst of the tour, like when she memorably supported him at the 2024 Super Bowl, where he and the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers. But, as the source said, it was challenging. Related: 12 Celebs Who Came Out At A Young Age, And 13 Who Came Out Way Later In Life "The past two seasons were a whirlwind between performing across multiple countries, long flights, and trying to squeeze in alone time together wherever possible," the source shared, adding, "It wasn't easy, but they made it work." And now that the tour is over, the source said Taylor is "genuinely excited to have the time and flexibility to show up for Travis more consistently." "This fall will be completely different," the source continued. "Taylor plans to be at as many of his games as possible. They've both had such demanding schedules for so long, so having this stretch of time where things aren't quite as chaotic feels like a welcome change." The source added that it's also "a chance for them to settle into more of a routine" and that Taylor and Travis are "both really happy about that." Aww! Can't wait to see her at the games! (Let's just hope the crowds are a little nicer this time.) BuzzFeed has contacted reps for Taylor and Travis for comment on the report.
