Shane Warne's son Jackson breaks his silence on the shocking way he found out his father had died: 'I looked at him as Superman'
Speaking for the first time about the tragic events, the 26-year-old said he was with members of his family when he learned that Shane, 52, had suffered a fatal heart attack.
'Worst phone call of my life,' Jackson said in a new interview, three years after his father's death.
Speaking to the Herald Sun on Monday, Jackson said he was with his mother, Simone Callahan, and his eldest sister, Brooke, when Shane's manager, Andrew Neophitou, called with the horrific news.
Jackson explained that there were initially two separate phone calls, the first explaining that Shane had a massive heart attack, and the second informing the family that a resuscitation attempt was underway.
The podcaster and his family had to wait an agonising 90 minutes before James Erskine, Shane's manager, called again with an update.
'It was just the worst hour and a half,' Jackson said.
When the sad news finally came, Jackson said that he and his family all broke down in tears.
'I found out at the same time as the rest of the world,' Jackson said.
'As soon as I hung up on the first call, I got messages from people saying, "tell me it's not true" and it has to be fake.
'And I thought, surely that's not what's going to get him. There was not a single part of me that thought dad wouldn't make it. That thought wasn't there 100 percent.
'I looked at him as Superman. I didn't think anything would happen to him. It still is such a shock.'
Shane died suddenly from a massive heart attack while on holiday in Thailand in March 2022.
The megastar cricketer turned pundit and businessman was found unconscious in a villa in the resort of Koh Samui.
Thai police said that Warne was one of four friends staying in the villa.
One of the group tried to wake Shane for food at around 5pm on March 4, but the athlete was found to be unresponsive.
Warne's manager Neophitou performed CPR on the cricket great for around 20 minutes to try and save his life before an ambulance arrived.
He was then taken to the Thai International Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Jackson recently revealed how his new career move is 'therapy' to help him cope with the loss of his father.
The budding media star has launched his new podcast, Warnes Way, and explains how he pays tribute to his dad on set.
'We've got a studio we've set up which is in dad's old office so it feels like he's there,' Jackson told the Herald Sun last week.
'We've got all his memorabilia, his book, his ashtray, it's really special.'
Jackson says that he and his dad had originally planned to do a father-and-son podcast together back in 2018, but it never happened.
With guests who knew his dad - such as Eddie McGuire and Mark Howard - Jackson says the podcast has served as a means of healing his grief.
'I'm also treating it as a bit of therapy for me,' the professional poker player said.
'I don't see a therapist but when I talk to people like Mark Howard and Eddie McGuire it's so personal and we talk about stories with dad.'

Wednesday by name, Wednesday by nature! Jenna Ortega looks downcast in a Gothic-style outfit as she arrives in Sydney alongside Hollywood legend to promote Netflix series
Life seemingly imitates art for Jenna Ortega as she arrived at Sydney Airport looking very much like Wednesday from the eponymous series. The Hollywood actress, who is Down Under for the opening of fan festival Wednesday Island in Sydney, failed to raise a smile as she walked through arrivals in an all-black ensemble. The 22-year-old star rocked a leather coat over a tiny pair of denim shorts and a graphic T-shirt for the travel day. She finished off the gothic-style outfit with chunky, buckled black boots and a studded leather bag, while throwing her locks in a half-up, half-down 'do. She wore a serious face, similar to that of the titular character she plays, as she made her way through the terminal. Jenna attempted to go incognito in a pair of sunglasses; however her bleached eyebrows, small frame and hefty security team gave her away. The Hollywood actress, who is Down Under for the opening of fan festival Wednesday Island in Sydney, failed to raise a smile as she walked through arrivals in an all-black ensemble Also arriving in Sydney was none other than gothic mastermind Tim Burton. The American filmmaker, who has brought the likes of Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Beetlejuice to life on the screen, similarly opted for an all-black ensemble. Tim wore a button-up shirt, coat and jeans as he arrived to a chilly Sydney winter, carrying a backpack as he made his way through the airport. He, too, tried to slide under the radar with a black fedora and glasses. Burton is an executive producer on Wednesday and has directed several episodes in seasons one and two of the hit Netflix show. Emma Myers, who plays Wednesday's colourful Nevermore roommate Enid Sinclair in the popular series, also touched down in Sydney with Jenna and Tim. The actress wore an oversized grey hooded sweater, which she used to shield her face from the paparazzi upon arrival. She paired the sweater with baggy jeans and dark shades. Tim wore a button-up shirt, coat and jeans as he arrived to a chilly Sydney winter, carrying a backpack as he made his way through the airport The actress appeared nervous, biting at her nail as her security shooed away an excited fan. The first four episodes of Wednesday's second season debuted to critical acclaim at the beginning of the month. The second half of the season is expected to hit screens in September. The show, a spin-off from hit comic series The Addams Family, made headlines in 2022 after its first season nabbed the number one most popular English-language TV title ever on Netflix, according to Variety. The second season is predicted to achieve similar success after it amassed over 50 million views in its first five days of streaming on the platform.

TV star allegedly visited chopper crash pilot in hospital to 'delete a few things' from his phone: Pilot speaks out in court about Outback Wrangler
Reality TV star Matt Wright visited a pilot while he was heavily sedated in hospital following a deadly helicopter crash, asking him to manipulate flying hour records, a court has been told. Outback Wrangler co-star Chris 'Willow' died in the February 2022 accident, falling to the ground from a sling beneath the chopper while collecting crocodile eggs in remote swampland in the Northern Territory. The aircraft then crashed, seriously injuring pilot Sebastian Robinson. Now a paraplegic, he gave evidence at the Supreme Court in Darwin by video link from his wheelchair on Wednesday. Wright is on trial on three charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice, having pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors allege he was worried crash investigators would discover that flight-time meters were disconnected regularly to extend flying hours beyond official thresholds and that paperwork was falsified. Mr Robinson told the court Wright visited him in Royal Brisbane Hospital 10 days after the crash when he was still in very bad shape, heavily sedated with 'tubes coming out of me everywhere'. Crown prosecutor Jason Gullaci SC asked the 32-year-old what Wright had asked of him at his hospital bedside and he replied 'to manipulate hours on my aircraft'. 'He asked if I would consider putting any of his hours, from his helicopter, onto my helicopter.' The court was told Mr Robinson was being asked to put egg-collecting hours flown on Wright's crashed helicopter onto his own helicopter, which was not fitted with equipment for egg collecting. Mr Robinson said he told Wright he would think about his request and when he made a return visit the next day told him 'I didn't feel comfortable doing it'. Wright had also asked to go through his phone and 'delete a few things', Mr Robinson said. At the time he was 'scared and panicked' and didn't know who to trust, he said. The crash and his life-changing injuries had been 'the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with in my life'. The court was told Mr Robinson was asked to fly egg-collecting missions in Arnhem Land, where COVID restrictions were in place, because Wright was an anti-vaxxer so could not enter the Indigenous territory unvaccinated. Jurors heard that Wright visited Mr Robinson in hospital despite requirements to show a COVID vaccination certificate and having to complete a test for the virus. The charges against Wright do not relate to the cause of the accident and the prosecution does not allege he is responsible for either the crash, Mr Wilson's death or Mr Robinson's injuries. The trial continues.

Guy Sebastian caught in yet another embarrassing promotional performance for his new album in Sydney after only eight fans showed up to see him in Darwin
Guy Sebastian can't catch a break. The Aussie singer, 43, has been caught in another embarrassing promotional gig for his new album. The Aussie singer, who rose to fame after winning the first season of Australian Idol, is currently spruiking his newly-released album 100 Times Around The Sun at various locations across Australia. Last week he performed to a crowd of just eight fans at the JB Hi-Fi shop in Darwin's Casuarina Square. Now, a video has been shared on Reddit showing the songwriter performing at the Apple Store in Sydney City Centre. 'Stumbled upon a pop-up Guy Sebastian show at the city Apple Store tonight?' one person confusedly captioned the clip posted on Tuesday. In the video, Guy performed a passionate rendition of his 2012 hit Battle Scars as fans watched on at the George Street store. Social media users flooded the post to poke fun at Guy's recent Sydney performance. 'And the crowd goes mild,' one person wrote below the post. Another quipped: 'Who approved his busking licence?' 'Did you get the phone cable you were looking for or was Guy blocking the shelf?' one social media user joked. Others mentioned his recent appearance at Westfield Parramatta, where Guy performed to shoppers passing by in a pop-up performance. 'Was at Parra Westfield Sunday. Seems to be giving concerts away,' one fan said. Another penned: 'He's doing the Westfield circuit too.' Guy does not seemed fazed about the criticism, and was seen smiling while walking through Sydney Airport with his entourage in tow. He then proceeded to board a plane at the departures gate Guy, who recently quit The Voice to focus on making new music, had a giant grin on his face as an excited fan approached him for a selfie. The Who's That Girl hitmaker veered from his security as he leant in for a picture with the chuffed fan. After the photo, Guy swiftly rejoined his crew, grinning after the heartwarming fan moment. He then proceeded to board a plane at the departures gate. Last week, Guy's personal appearance at a suburban Darwin shopping centre ended abruptly following an awkward moment with a young girl. Just a handful of people had lined up to see the former chart topper and Australian Idol winner for a signing session to mark the launch of his new album. Store bosses insisted around 40 people queued up to meet and greet the star at the JB Hi-Fi shop in Darwin's Casuarina Square. But Daily Mail staff at the scene put the real figure closer to just eight - and the event suddenly ended after he was introduced to the young girl. The child had painted a picture of the singer and wanted him to keep it, but Guy tried to graciously refuse to accept the gift. Guy said it would be better if she kept it, and added that it looked 'amazing'. Instead, he offered to sign the picture, telling the child her painting made him look like a 'police officer' and that she had 'nailed it'. Guy and his entourage left the store shortly after, with the star appearing tired and forlorn as he attempted to smile for the few diehard fans present.
