Liverpool star pictured with transfer target after he's spotted on Anfield visit
Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has been making the most of his summer break and his recent link-up with a rumoured Reds transfer target has set tongues wagging
Ryan Gravenberch has been snapped with Jorrel Hato during his summer break - just months after the Liverpool transfer target was seen at Anfield taking in a Premier League game.
The Reds have been linked to Hato on more than one occasion over the past 12 months in the wake of the impressive defender's emergence at Ajax. That coincided with Hato, 19, attending Liverpool's fixture with Ipswich Town back in January.
It was explained at the time, though, that Hato had been invited to the game by Gravenberch rather than travelling over for anything transfer-related.
The duo have been out and about again with the domestic season now done, with Gravenberch sharing a picture of them out for food on his Instagram story - and that could spark fresh speculation that Hato is Anfield-bound.
While further interest in Hato could materialise now that the summer transfer window is open, Ajax are in a strong bargaining position when it comes to the Netherlands star, who is under contract in Amsterdam until 2028.
The player himself has also attempted to cool speculation, saying: "I read it all [the transfer rumours]. But I also know that not everything was right.
"For my development it's best that I stay at Ajax now. I was invited by Ryan Gravenberch. But I didn't speak to a director there. Liverpool played well and the atmosphere in the stadium was good, but there is no more to say."
While it remains to be seen if Liverpool will try to prise Hato away from Amsterdam, the newly minted Premier League champions are expected to be busy this summer and have already snapped up Jeremie Frimpong from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Reds are also working on a club-record swoop for Frankfurt's sought-after attacking midfielder, Florian Wirtz, after wooing the Germany star in talks. Bayern Munich were the red-hot favourites to sign him.
Further incomings are also expected with Milos Kerkez, the Bournemouth left-back, also on the club's summer wishlist. A new No.9 is expected to arrive before the start of the 2025-26 campaign, as well as a number of outgoings.
Caoimhin Kelleher is poised to become the first player to head through the exit door; the 26-year-old goalkeeper has agreed to join Brentford in a deal which could end up netting Liverpool £18m.

Man Utd told to sack Amorim for unlikely move - 'Not trying to sensationalise'
Ruben Amorim endured a very difficult first season at Manchester United with Arsenal icon Martin Keown suggesting a surprise option to replace the Portuguese coach at Old Trafford Manchester United have sensationally been told to sack Ruben Amorim for Liverpool legend Jurgen Klopp. Amorim endured a woeful first season at Old Trafford since replacing Erik ten Hag. He led the club to 15th in the Premier League - their worst finish of the modern era - while they also missed out on a spot in the Champions League after losing the Europa League final against Tottenham. That rotten form has left Amorim clinging on to his job. And former Arsenal defender Martin Keown believes he has the perfect replacement already lined up: Klopp. Explaining the controversial move on talkSPORT, Keown said: 'I'm still concerned that maybe this isn't the right manager for Manchester United. 'Just look at the number of games they've lost. It's going to be a very interesting start to next season for them but they could do a lot worse than go and get Jurgen Klopp to manage their football club. 'I'm not trying to sensationalise. I believe he could do an incredible job there and I believe they need somebody with more experience than the current manager.' Asked to elaborate, he added: 'Why not? He's done a rebuilding job before [at Liverpool].' Amorim still has two years left to run on his original deal, with the option of a further season. It now appears very unlikely that he will be moved on. While the prospect of him being sacked looks unlikely, the prospect of Klopp moving to Old Trafford looks closer to impossible. The German is currently serving as Red Bull 's Head of Global Soccer and has hinted that he may never return to the dugout. Meanwhile, his ties to United's bitter rivals Liverpool make a move even more unlikely. That is despite Klopp having held talks over a switch to Old Trafford in the past. He previously revealed he turned down a move ahead of Sir Alex Ferguson 's retirement. Klopp said: "We spoke. We spoke not a lot but, for me, it was a lot. It was a big honour, the whole talk, to be honest. But I could not leave Dortmund. "You are in April and you are in the middle of the planning for next season. You have this player and this player who are coming but then you are not there anymore? That doesn't work. Not in my life. "I didn't hear about a real offer [from United] but, if there was, I could not have done it. I first had to finish the job with Dortmund and then think about other things. Maybe that is not smart but that is my way. It was the same at Mainz."

David Coote's new life after refereeing ban with drastic career change caught on camera
David Coote's new life after refereeing ban with drastic career change caught on camera David Coote was sacked by the PGMOL in December and a surprised resident within his local area was shocked to see him working in a completely different job David Coote is currently banned from refereeing (Image: Photo by Rob Newell - CameraSport via Getty Images ) In the space of six months, ex-Premier League referee David Coote has gone from handing out red cards to giving out parcels for Evri. The 42-year-old official was dismissed by the PGMOL in December following a video that emerged on social media showing him criticising Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp. Subsequently, Coote received a 16-month UEFA suspension from refereeing duties, which is set to conclude in June 2026. Another video allegedly depicting the official snorting white powder also circulated, with other reports claiming this incident occurred during his time at the 2024 European Championships. Now he is currently barred from officiating, Coote has taken up a courier role close to his Newark residence. A couple was notably surprised when they spotted the former official delivering a package to their doorstep via their Ring doorbell. Coote, who is employed by the delivery company near his home in Nottinghamshire, expressed his desire to move forward and find meaning in his life again. "I want to get on with my life," he said, per the Sun. "I'm trying to move forwards and regain a sense of responsibility and purpose. The job is keeping me busy and occupied, it's not a new long-term career." During his tenure as a referee in England, Coote presided over 112 Premier League matches and 143 Championship fixtures, reports the Mirror. He also officiated the Carabao Cup final between Manchester United and Newcastle at Wembley in 2023. He ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, where he fundraised for his uncle Mick, who is currently living with Motor Neurone Disease. "This has been one of the most difficult periods of my life," he confessed earlier this year. "I take full responsibility for my actions, which fell way below what was expected of me. I am truly sorry for any offence caused by my actions and for the negative spotlight it put on the game that I love. "I hope people will understand that they were private moments taken during very low times in my life. They do not reflect who I am today or what I think. I hope that my experiences, both on and off the field, can be utilised in football at some point in the future. "Finally, I want to thank everyone who has supported me recently, in particular my family, friends, former colleagues, PGMOL, Howard Webb and countless people across football. "Special thanks also to the many strangers who have reached out with words of encouragement and support. I have appreciated it more than I can properly express."
