Tej Pratap Announces Alliance With VVIP For Bihar Polls, Says Tejashwi Won't Contest In Mahua
Tej Pratap Yadav, who was expelled from the RJD by his father, announced an alliance with the Vikas Vanchit Insan Party (VVIP). He earlier said he would contest from Mahua.
Tej Pratap Yadav, who announced an alliance with the Vikas Vanchit Insan Party (VVIP) ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, said his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav will not contest against him from the Mahua constituency.
The former Bihar minister, who was expelled from the party on May 25 by his father Lalu Prasad for six years over his 'relationship" with a woman named Anushka, had previously announced that he would contest the upcoming Assembly elections from Mahua seat in Vaishali district as an independent candidate.
Speaking to reporters, Tej Pratap said he was not on talking terms with Tejashwi Yadav but gave his blessings to his younger brother. 'Tejashwi Yadav won't contest from Mahua ever. I have always blessed him… No, we are not on talking terms," he said.

Earlier today, Tej Pratap announced an alliance with the Vikas Vanchit Insan Party, led by Pradeep Nishad. 'Representatives of several parties are here and they all have agreed to support 'Team Tej Pratap'. We will together fight battle ahead. We are aware that it will be a challenging battle ahead," he said at the press conference.
Without taking names, Tej Pratap said he was a victim of injustice and claimed that several people were out to 'break us". 'Many people would be thinking that we will be destroyed in this battle, but our unity is our strength," he added.
Pradeep Nishad was previously an active leader of the VIP (Vikassheel Insaan Party). However, he recently parted ways with the party's founder, Mukesh Sahani, and has formed his own political party. It is believed that differences in ideology and a desire to give distinct political representation to the Nishad community led him to take this step.
Political analysts believe that Tej Pratap's move could shift the dynamics of the opposition in Bihar after his fallout with the RJD. He is currently the MLA of the Hasanpur seat in Samastipur district.
Tej Pratap Yadav made his political debut in the 2015 assembly polls and is a second-term MLA with two brief stints in the state cabinet.
Last month, the estranged son of the Yadav family launched a new Facebook page titled 'Team Tej Pratap', notably omitting his father's party name and election symbol. The page features the slogan, 'Jiska Kaayam Hai Pratap, Wahi Hai Aapka Apna Tej Pratap," and Tej Pratap Yadav has announced that all his activities will be shared through this platform.

Is Yunus now targeting Hasina-era president? Bangladesh missions removing his portraits
Most of the country's 82 missions had already taken down the portraits in the wake of the July uprising. The remaining missions, which had not yet acted, were reportedly instructed last Friday to remove them as well, according to a report Confusion surrounds the removal of President Mohammed Shahabuddin's portraits from Bangladesh missions abroad, as officials from the foreign ministry claim the directive was issued verbally, without any formal written order. According to The Daily Star report, citing ministry sources, most of the country's 82 missions had already taken down the portraits in the wake of the July uprising. The remaining missions, which had not yet acted, were reportedly instructed last Friday to remove them as well, added the report. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The quiet and inconsistent implementation has raised eyebrows, particularly as Shahabuddin was appointed during Sheikh Hasina's tenure. 'No, there was no written order,' The Daily Star quoted a foreign ministry official as saying. More from World How long does Netanyahu intend to keep Gaza under Israeli occupation? He keeps everyone guessing Despite this, officials were unable to clarify why the directive to remove President Mohammed Shahabuddin's portraits was issued verbally rather than through formal channels. Questions on the matter were avoided by both Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam and Shah Asif Rahman, Director General of the Public Diplomacy Wing, when approached by journalists on Monday, added the report. Meanwhile, Azad Majumder, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, said in a Facebook post the same day that the interim government had discouraged the use of official portraits from the outset, maintaining what he described as an unwritten 'zero-portrait' policy. 'Even so, some individuals have, on their own initiative, displayed pictures of the government or head of state. However, no written directive has been issued to any office or mission instructing them to remove such portraits,' he wrote, adding that the matter was being unnecessarily stirred in public discourse. 'Since the announcement of the election schedule has reduced opportunities to create confusion over politics, many small matters are being exaggerated and turned into mountain-sized controversies to keep up political momentum,' Azad added. Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said she only learnt of the removals from media reports. 'If it were a government decision, it would have been in writing. I don't know whether the government has taken such a decision. It was not discussed in the Advisory Council. If it was a government decision, it would come up in the meeting,' she was quoted as saying. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD On whether it could impact the upcoming polls, she said: 'If photos were removed, that has nothing to do with the election. A photo has no relation to an election.' RJD's Tejashwi accuses CEC of 'working on directions' of Modi
RJD leader Tejaswhi Yadav on Monday charged Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar with working on the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and asked the poll panel chief to submit an affidavit that he would not hold any position offered by the NDA government post retirement. Yadav made the remark in a video statement released on Monday, a day after the CEC rejected as "baseless" the allegations of double voting and "vote theft", and asserted that all stakeholders are working to make the special intensive revision of electoral rolls a success in a transparent manner. "Yesterday's press conference of the EC established the fact that the CEC is working on the directions of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. In fact, the CEC should first give an affidavit that he would not hold any post of profit after retirement offered by the BJP-led NDA government. He should also give an affidavit that he will not leave the country after retirement," the RJD leader said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Algeria Solar Panels: See How Much It Will Cost To Install Them (See Prices) Solar Panel | Search Ads Learn More "The EC has been totally exposed... replies and arguments provided by the CEC yesterday were meaningless. Even a nursery student could have given a better reply. The CEC is deceiving the country and its people," Yadav asserted. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Monday, representatives of eight prominent opposition parties - Congress, TMC, SP, DMK, RJD, CPI(M), AAP and SS-UBT - said the CEC had "failed" to answer their questions on the SIR of electoral rolls and issues related to voter list irregularities. Live Events The opposition parties accused the Election Commission of failing to discharge its constitutional duty of ensuring a free and fair electoral system, and did not rule out moving an impeachment motion against the CEC, whom they alleged was acting like a "BJP spokesperson".

BJP dares Opposition to dissolve state assemblies, says protests over Bihar voter list meant to shield infiltrators
NEW DELHI: The BJP on Monday dared INDIA bloc parties to dissolve state assemblies where they are in power if they doubt the Election Commission's fairness, and alleged that their sole aim behind protesting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar is to shield infiltrators. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told reporters that it has become Rahul Gandhi's habit to cry "chor chor", claiming that it is ironic that leaders like him or RJD's Tejashwi Yadav, who is on bail in a corruption case like the Congress leader, are charging constitutional bodies with theft. He alleged that parties like the Congress and Trinamool Congress (TMC) seek "complete chaos" in India and want the country to resemble the unrest seen in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan. His attack on opposition parties came after eight of them, including the Congress, TMC, SP, DMK and RJD, hit out at Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, alleging that instead of responding to questions raised by them, he chose to attack them at his presser on Sunday. The ruling alliance and the Opposition have been involved in a war of words over the SIR of electoral rolls, with the latter forcing a virtual washout of Parliament's Monsoon session over the issue since it began on July 21. The only business that Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been able to conduct smoothly was a two-day discussion in each of the House over Operation Sindoor. Accusing Gyanesh Kumar of acting like a BJP spokesperson, opposition parties said he failed to answer their questions on the SIR and issues related to the voter list irregularities. Patra asserted that the CEC made a point-by-point "technical rebuttal" to the charges levelled by opposition leaders like Gandhi but they are deliberately crying foul. "They want a chaotic situation to develop in India and benefit politically. This is their attempt," he said.
