Terming Pakistan a failed nation, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said it has only sown seeds of terrorism in the last 70-75 years. Pakistan has shown the world the story of its failure, and the day is not far when the state-backed terrorism will swallow the country, Yogi said after flagging off the 'Bharat Shaurya Tiranga Yatra' from his official residence, 5 Kalidas Marg, here to salute the valour of army after the success of Operation Sindoor.
Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi, soldiers, ex-servicemen and youth for the success of Operation Sindoor, the chief minister said that the whole country was eager to salute the valour and courage of the Indian Army, and the brave soldiers who completed the operation successfully.
'In the event of a challenge and national crisis, patience and unity are our biggest assets. Our soldiers crushed the morale of Pakistan. People across the world saw the shameless face of Pakistan and its masters as leaders and military officers there participated in the funeral of the terrorists,' Yogi said.
'Pakistan-backed terrorists carried out a gruesome and barbaric attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22. Various countries condemned it but Pakistan, the promoter of terrorism, and its leaders remained silent. Our government is committed to protecting the honour and dignity of the country,' the chief minister said.
'We provided all the evidence, yet Pakistan did not stop its nefarious activities. The Indian government launched Operation Sindoor to destroy the terror launch pads and hideouts across the border. On the first day of the operation, more than 100 terrorists and people associated with them in nurturing terrorism were punished. Everyone acknowledged the valour and courage of the Indian Army. Our brave soldiers from the Army, Air Force and Navy gave a strong reply to Pakistan's audacity and sent across a message to the world that we would not provoke, but won't spare those who provoke us either,' CM Yogi said.
Describing tricolour as a symbol of India's pride, honour and bravery, Yogi said: 'Tiranga Yatra has been launched in U.P. by the BJP to honour the tricolour and soldiers, and to express gratitude with the PM.'
The presence of a large number of people from morning despite the scorching heat is an example of the respect for the Indian Army, he added.
'To realise the PM's vision of a developed India, it is necessary that we work with the spirit of nation first. When it becomes the priority of 140 crore Indians and every Indian is engaged in discharging their duties in their respective fields, no power in the world will be able to challenge us,' Yogi said.
Expressing gratitude to the PM, Yogi said he kept the country united and boosted the morale of brave soldiers by visiting the Adampur Airbase in Punjab.
BJP state president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal, deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, finance minister Suresh Khanna, Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh, sports minister Girish Yadav, cooperative minister JPS Rathore, Rajya Sabha MP Brijlal and Sanjay Seth among others were present on the occasion.

Bangladesh anti-Sheikh Hasina student protester Newton Das found to be Bengal voter
A man allegedly linked to the 2024 students' protests in Bangladesh was found to be a voter in West Bengal's Kakdwip Assembly constituency, The Hindu reported on Sunday. Several images of the man, identified as Newton Das, participating in the agitation in the neighbouring country were widely shared on social media. Das has claimed that he was an Indian citizen but acknowledged that he had actively participated in the protests in Bangladesh, The Hindu reported. 'I went to Bangladesh in 2024 for issues related to an ancestral property and got caught in the revolution,' The Hindu quoted Newton Das as saying in a video. 'I have been a voter in Kakdwip since 2014 but lost my voter card in 2017.' Newton Das said that he had received a fresh voter card in 2018 with the help of Trinamool Congress MLA Manturam Pakhira. He also claimed that he had voted for Pakhira, who represents Kakdwip, in the 2016 Assembly polls, The Hindu reported. The constituency is in South 24 Parganas district. 'This is a conspiracy against me by a particular community,' India Today quoted Newton Das as saying in the video. He did not specify whether he was currently in India or Bangladesh. His cousin Tapan Das, who resides in Kakdwip, claimed that Newton Das was born in Bangladesh and had exercised voting rights in both countries, The Hindu reported. Tapan Das claimed that his cousin had gone to Bangladesh after the Covid-19 pandemic to sell land and had not returned. 'Since he was born in Bangladesh, he is a voter of Bangladesh too,' The Hindu quoted Tapan Das as saying. 'It is his fault that he is registered as a voter in both the countries.' Kakdwip is close to the Sundarbans and India's border with Bangladesh. Political row The incident sparked a political row in the state. The Bharatiya Janata Party's West Bengal unit on Sunday criticised West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress claiming that a ' Bangladeshi protester ' was voting in both countries. 'Let that sink in,' the Hindutva party said on social media. 'This isn't an accident. This is the TMC blueprint – flood Bengal's voter rolls with illegal infiltrators and secure elections with ghost votes.' West Bengal 'isn't just lawless – it's compromised from within', the BJP claimed. BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari claimed that lakhs of Bangladesh citizens were registered as voters in the state, The Hindu reported. 'The same Newton who was seen wielding a stick during Bangladesh's quota reform movement is now a registered voter in Kakdwip,' the BJP leader said on social media. 'Thousands of Bangladeshi 'Newtons' voting in Bengal – courtesy of [Chief Minister] Mamata Banerjee's infiltration theory and appeasement politics,' he alleged. 'With illegal voters and these lathi-wielders miscreants as her support base, she's not running West Bengal… she's scripting a blueprint for Greater Bangladesh.' The Trinamool Congress rejected the BJP's allegations and said that the responsibility for border security was with the Border Security Force, India Today reported. The Border Security Force reports to the Union home ministry. As the Narendra Modi-led NDA government marks its first anniversary in its third term, BJP chief J P Nadda, said that the work done under the Prime Minister's leadership towards good governance, and welfare of the poor will be etched in 'golden letters'. The BJP-led government also completes 11 years on Monday since it came to power at the Centre in 2014. PM Modi took oath for a third term on June 9, 2024. 'Work done by the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi in the past 11 years were extraordinary, and should be written in golden letters,' Nadda said in a press conference at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi. Emphasising on a shift post 2014, Nadda said: 'That government [Congress-led UPA] before 2014 was full of corruption. There was a negativism. However, after 2014, there was a shift from negativism to optimism. Every one today says 'Modi hai toh mumkin hai''. Crediting the PM for transforming the political culture, Nadda came down heavily on the Congress-led UPA government prior to 2014. 'Eleven years ago, our political culture was marked by appeasement, and breaking the fragments of the society to save one's 'chair'. But after Modiji came to power, politics of performance, responsive and responsible government, accountable, politics of report card, emerged to form the new culture. The 'new normal', new order' has been established. It is an effective government, it is a government which has taken strong decisions… It has turned to be a transparent government and a futuristic government,' he said. Nadda also quoted PM Modi underlining, 'This decade will prove to be the base of development of future 'Viksit Bharat'. He cited Article 370 repeal in Jammu and Kashmir, abolition of triple talaq, Waqf Amendment Act, demonetisation, women quota bill as some of the 'bold decisions' takes by the BJP government under PM Modi's leadership. 'This is the change, this is the bold decision taken by the BJP government,' Nadda added.
