Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zaid Center organises multilingual religious lectures for Muslim communities

The Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center, of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf), organised a series of religious lectures for non-Arabic-speaking Muslim communities.
These lectures are part of the centre's ongoing programs to promote religious awareness and Islamic values among various communities in the country, and the events witnessed wide participation and notable engagement.
In this context, a lecture in English was held at Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Al-Thani Mosque in The Pearl area, attended by more than 80 members of the community.
The preacher addressed the topic of having good thoughts about Allah, emphasising that this virtue is one of the greatest doors to hope, as it motivates Muslims to perform righteous deeds in pursuit of Allah's mercy, without falling into complacency or arrogance, but rather combining hope with action and reliance on Allah's forgiveness.
At the centre's lecture hall, two additional lectures were held. The first was for the Ethiopian community in Amharic, delivered by preacher Waheeb Kurto on love of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
He stressed that loving the Prophet (PBUH) is both a legal and heartfelt obligation, manifested in following his Sunnah and emulating his character. He noted that the Prophet (PBUH) sacrificed dearly to guide humanity, and our love for him is shown through our behaviour, speech, and actions.
The third lecture was directed at the Urdu-speaking community, on relationship with Allah as the foundation of happiness, attended by around 150 community members. It was delivered by preacher Abdul Ghafoor Al Omari, who discussed the importance of sincere worship, remembrance of Allah, and drawing closer to Him as a path to inner peace and spiritual stability.
He pointed out that true happiness can only be attained through a strong connection with the Creator, and that fulfilling the purpose of existence is the key to tranquillity.
Organisers at the centre affirmed that these gatherings will continue as part of a religious outreach plan that includes various mosques and centres, aiming to reach the widest possible segment of communities and connect them with authentic Islamic values and the teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah, using simplified methods that respect cultural and linguistic diversity.
The organisation of the lectures reflects the centre's commitment to serving Muslim communities in their native languages and providing accessible religious and educational platforms that meet their spiritual and cultural needs.
It also demonstrates the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs' dedication to spreading Islamic values and enhancing communication with all segments of society.

Al-Raqim introduces 70 students to art of Arabic calligraphy through its summer workshops

The program featured a visual presentation on the history and evolution of Arabic calligraphy, followed by hands-on training in writing the phrase 'Qatar Will Remain Free' using the Ruq'ah script by enhancing the visual balance and aesthetic harmony of the letters. The organizing committee highlighted that this initiative aligns with the educational vision of the Al-Raqim competition, which aims to revive the art of Arabic calligraphy, strengthen the connection between younger generations and the nation's visual and historical identity, and underscore its deep-rooted association with the Holy Quran and the artistic embellishment of its manuscripts through the centuries. Participating students expressed their enthusiasm and gratitude for the experience, which allowed them to explore their calligraphic talents, develop an appreciation for artistic expression, and deepen their sense of cultural identity.

Awqaf opens mosque for 765 worshippers in Wadi Al Sail
QNA Doha The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Mosques Department, has inaugurated the Al-Walida Sari'a Saeed Ahmad Al Kuwari Mosque in Wadi Al Sail, accommodating 765 worshippers of both genders on a capacious plot of 3,075 squaremetres. Having been endowed by Nasser bin Jabr bin Sultan bin Tawar Al Kuwari, the inaugurated mosque is part of the ministry's plan dedicated to expanding and advancing mosques in all areas throughout the nation, in pursuit of keeping abreast of urban and population growth, in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030. The mosque consists of a key hall for prayer accommodating 620 worshippers, a hall for women that accommodates 145 individuals, a spacious ablution area, alongside a sheer number of public parking lots, some of which have been designated for persons with disabilities, with entries and exits being meticulously organized. The mosque is topped with a tall minaret. The Awqaf's Department of Engineering Affairs is tasked with meeting the needs of areas statewide in terms of mosques and prayer rooms, as well as equipping temporary mosques and overseeing their preservation. The department also prepares mosque maintenance annual plans to repair mosques and imams' residences, in lockstep with the competent authorities. In addition, it prepares and executes construction operations, oversees under-construction projects, and manages waqf-owned residences for imams in terms of designs, as well as technical and engineering specifications and implementation, and ultimately sets a database about mosques, prayer rooms, and their operators.

QSCCB observes Int'l Youth Day with session on visual impairment
QNA Doha The Qatar Social and Cultural Center for Blind (QSCCB) has organised an interactive awareness session to empower youth and raise their awareness about the issues faced by persons with disabilities. This initiative targets members of QSCCB and the Kaaban Youth Center, and it is part of the celebration of the International Youth Day, observed annually on August 12. The session was presented by QSCCB member Ahmed Al Kubaisi, who provided an overview of visual impairment, its types and major causes, while also correcting common misconceptions about the condition. Al Kubaisi emphasised that losing vision does not always mean complete blindness, and that visual impairment does not prevent a person from learning or working. He also showcased key assistive technologies that support people with visual disabilities, such as screen readers, smartphone apps, Braille tools, smart glasses, and modern tech devices, which participants had the opportunity to try. The session also covered appropriate ways to interact with people with visual impairments, including introducing oneself clearly, using specific descriptions, avoiding unnecessary loud speech, informing the person of obstacles or surroundings, allowing them to hold the guide's arm, and notifying them when leaving, while highlighting behaviours to avoid. The event reaffirmed the importance of promoting social awareness and the role of youth in supporting the inclusion of visually impaired individuals in all areas of life.
