Lufthansa Jet Flown By Autopilot After Pilot Faints In Cockpit
MADRID, May 18 (Bernama-dpa) -- A Lufthansa flight was flown by autopilot when the copilot, alone in the cockpit as the pilot had stepped away to use the bathroom, fainted, Spanish investigators said in a report about an incident last year that was released on Saturday.
The Airbus A321 flew without a pilot in charge for 10 minutes, the Spanish accident investigation authority CIAIAC said of the flight on February 17, 2024, from Frankfurt to Seville, reported German news agency dpa.
Lufthansa confirmed it was aware of the report and said its flight safety department had conducted an extensive internal investigation into the incident. The company did not disclose the results of its investigation, stating, "We ask for your understanding that we will not comment beyond the investigation report."

PUTRAJAYA, June 5 — Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM or road tax) renewals for individual private vehicles can be carried out at Road Transport Department (JPJ) kiosks in Sabah and Sarawak starting tomorrow. JPJ, in a statement today, said the renewal service will be available at 41 kiosks; 21 in Sabah and 20 in Sarawak. This service, however, applies only to private vehicles registered from 2020 onwards. 'For individual private vehicles registered before 2020, owners or their representatives must go to the JPJ counters for renewal,' it said. In addition, renewals can also be done via the MyJPJ app, mySIKAP JPJ portal, JPJ mobile counters, and JPJ strategic partners. Vehicle owners are also advised to ensure their motor insurance coverage is valid and active before renewing their road tax at JPJ kiosks, as the system will automatically verify insurance details during the transaction. 'This initiative is part of JPJ's ongoing efforts to enhance service efficiency and provide greater convenience to the public by digitalising its services. 'Through the use of self-service kiosks, users can carry out road tax renewals independently and quickly without needing to queue at the counter,' the statement said. GEORGE TOWN, June 5 (Bernama) -- Penang Police expect 2.5 million vehicles to enter the state ahead of the Aidiladha celebration this Saturday. State police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the figure was based on projections by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) of vehicles passing through the North-South Expressway (PLUS) from May 26 to June 8. 'In addition, the increase is likely attributed to the current fruit season in Penang,' he said when contacted by Bernama. To prepare, the JSPT launched an operation dubbed 'Op Lancar' from May 31 to June 8 to ensure smooth traffic flow during this period, he added. Hamzah said sufficient personnel have been deployed to patrol and monitor areas prone to congestion and accidents. Meanwhile, he noted that the police have identified several traffic hotspots where control efforts will be focused, including the Penang Bridge, Jalan Masjid Negeri, Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, and areas in Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT).
