Preparing For Armageddon – The Biggest Celebrity Announcement — EVER!

Scoopa day ago
Armageddon - the event that has brought an army of international celebrities, movie stars, anime actors and cosplay fans to New Zealand is set to announce its 30th anniversary lineup this Friday — and it's BIG!
Billed as the biggest celebrity lineup in New Zealand since The Return of the King premier in Wellington in 2003, the lineup will be announced in a livestream from Hobbiton on Friday 22nd from Midday.
Fans are invited to join in on the Livestream to hear the names of those who will be attending the Labour Weekend Armageddon show (October 24th-27th), see clips of their iconic performances and learn about their arrival in New Zealand.
Founder Bill Geradts says this announcement will be jaw-dropping for Kiwi fans of all genres.
'This will be the biggest fan event ever in New Zealand,' Geradts says. 'You do NOT want to miss out on this!'
Over the 30 years since it was created, Armageddon has brought a steady stream of top stars into the country. Household names like Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Richard Dean Anderson (MacGyver), John RhysDavies (LOTR), Yeardley Smith (The Simpsons), Seth Green (Austin Powers) and RonPerlman (Hellboy), have all graced the Armageddon Main Stage and met with fans for photos and autographs.
And that's not to mention, Five Doctors from Dr Who, three Terminators, SG Team members from Stargate, Zombie Killers from The Walking Dead, plus iconic voice actors from Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, Sonic The Hedgehog and Super Mario.
But Geradts says that this year's lineup will thrill New Zealand fans like no other. And for that reason, for the first time he's strictly limiting ticket sales and encouraging fans to get in early to avoid missing out.
'To have so many top stars at one, big Armageddon Expo is a dream come true. This is an event you'll tell your kids about,' he says.
The livestream will be able to be viewed at [address], starting at 12:00pm on Friday 22nd. Geradts says there is strict secrecy about the lineup until that time.
'I want the announcement to be a special event in itself,' he says.
'The Livestream is being filmed at Hobbition as a unique way of showcasing the various Movie and TV stars, animation and gaming voice actors and comic creators that will be appearing at the event.
'This is an EPIC EXPO unlike anything we have ever done in our thirty year history.
'Make sure you're there or you'll suffer from FOMA - Fear of Missing Armageddon,' he says.

Marathon screening of ‘LOTR' films sells out fast

Anyone with a ticket for The Lord of the Rings trilogy screening is now keeping it close and calling it "precious", after the "One movie marathon to rule them all" sold out in a matter of hours. From 10am to 10pm on August 30, LOTR fans dressed as hobbits, elves or wizards will be able to journey through Middle-earth like never before, and watch The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King screened back-to-back under the dome of Tūhura Otago Museum's planetarium. The films follow hobbit Frodo Baggins and his loyal companion Samwise Gamgee as they embark on a quest to destroy the One Ring and defeat its maker, the Dark Lord Sauron. Museum marketing manager Charlie Buchan said staff were surprised how quickly tickets to the event sold out. And of course, if you do not have a ticket, you shall not pass. But worry not. Museum staff are hoping to run another LOTR marathon soon. Mr Buchan said it was proving popular because it was not just a movie marathon, it was a pilgrimage. "It's been over 20 years since the final film came out, but these movies still mean so much to so many people. Tūhura Otago Museum events manager Rachel MacJeff and education officer Ashley Stewart attempt to get into character ahead of the marathon 12-hour screening of The Lord of the Rings trilogy at the museum on August 30. PHOTO: STEPHEN JAQUIERY "They hold a special place for those of us who grew up with them, or have passed them on to the next generation. "This trilogy is part of Aotearoa's cultural DNA. They helped put New Zealand, and especially Central Otago, on the global stage. "So, what better way to honour that legacy than by watching them on the big screen, with fellow fans, snacks in hand, and 12 hours of pure movie magic." Museum events manager and life-long Tolkien fan Rachel MacJeff said the setting could not be more perfect. "As a massive LOTR nerd, I honestly couldn't think of a better day. "You're in a comfy reclined seat, surrounded by other fans, watching this sweeping adventure unfold under our dome. "It almost feels like you're in the film, especially when those breathtaking New Zealand landscapes appear." The event was a celebration of one of the greatest film trilogies of all time, she said. "Whether you're coming for nostalgia, the New Zealand pride, or simply to say you made it through all 12 hours with your fellowship intact, this is one adventure not to miss."
