And let's get Micah Parsons on the field, if you're a Dallas Cowboys fan.
Here is what Jerry Jones said today, walking off the field in Oxnard, another day in which Parsons did not practice, but he was somewhere near the fields.
Asked if there is a deadline, this is from Todd Archer at ESPN, whether Micah would play September 4th against the Eagles.
Jerry Jones said, no, not at all.
You don't have deadlines when you're playing under a contract.
In other words, dude, not only are you under contract, oh by the way, I have two franchise tag years if I really want to use them.
Charles Robinson, it was August 1st, if memory serves, when Micah Parsons hit send on a three-page iPhone notes post saying, see you, I'm out of here.
Are we any closer to a resolution, because I cannot believe he's gonna get traded.
So I'll ask you guys this.
Jerry's got a Netflix program coming up, right?
And he's the master of promotion, and he has said in the past, Jerry has said, when it gets quiet, I like to stir it up a little bit.
Like when it gets quiet around our team, and all of us, we spent, I spent 25 years around NFL teams and all I hear is, we want it to be quiet.
And he's on the other end of the spectrum.
It gets quiet, he gets itchy, right?
Like he wants to get thrown out of an Apple, Applebee's when it gets quiet.
That's Jerry Jones.
So, so, is there a chance, and it was funny because the, the general manager posed this to me.
He said at one point, Is there any shot?
They know they're gonna pay him.
They they know we're gonna pay them $45 million a season.
We're gonna, we're gonna trump all the numbers.
But is there a chance that Jerry is doing this to keep the Cowboys constantly talked about leading into this Netflix series that's coming out about Jerry Jones.
And at the time, I was like, nah, I'm like, he's pretty crazy.
I'm like, but I don't think he would do this.
And, and, you know, you're like, you know, what Micah wouldn't Micah have to be in on that?
No, Micah wouldn't, because if the Cowboys sit there and go, we write checks all the time that heal feelings, and we know how to do that.
Let's go ahead and go through this and earn as much publicity as we possibly can.
This is Terry Jones.
This is a theory, and at the end of the day, believe this.
Come on, it would be the craziest thing I'd ever seen.
Uh, but if one guy is gonna pull it off, it's Jerry, right?
But if one guy is gonna sit there and go, What if Jerry says, all right, here's the number?
I know this is the number, and I'm just waiting, and I'll give you the number like in two weeks.
And then Micah goes, yeah, you know what, I don't want that number anymore.
Like, I really do want to get trained like yesterday's price.
I think both can be true.
Like, I guarantee it, yes, that has crossed his mind, but the idea that he would actually frank do it, I just can't buy it.
I love this.
I love this conspiracy so much because Jerry Jones is the one guy who is like Charles, you talked about this, we've talked about this.
Thirty-one teams, thirty-one owners are like, don't create any controversy.
Keep everything quiet.
There's one guy out there who's like, yeah, I'll tell you what you need to know.
I don't really care.
Let's be realistic.
Had they signed Micah at the outset of camp or before camp, how much would we have talked about the Cowboys?
We would have been like, uh, we would have just talked about normal football stuff.
Uh, how, how this is.

Kyle Schwarber's 43rd homer sends Phillies to 6-2 win over Nats. Closer Duran injured in 9th

WASHINGTON (AP) — Kyle Schwarber hit his 43rd homer, a tiebreaking, three-run shot in the seventh inning, and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Washington Nationals 6-2 on Friday night to snap a three-game skid. Bryce Harper followed Schwarber with a drive over the center-field fence, the sixth time this season the Phillies have homered back-to-back. Both ex-Nats were cheered by a pro-Philly crowd of 35,143, and Schwarber got 'M-V-P!' chants when he batted in the ninth. Phillies closer Jhoan Duran, pitching in a non-save situation in the ninth, took a sharp grounder off his right foot from Paul DeJong and came up limping. After a lengthy visit by trainers, he rode off the field in the Nationals' bullpen cart. After a solid start by Nationals ace MacKenzie Gore, the National League East-leading Phillies feasted on last-place Washington's inexperienced bullpen. Clayton Beeter (0-2) walked two batters in the seventh and gave way to Konnor Pilkington, who hung a 1-0 slider that Schwarber sent 456 feet into the right-field stands. Phillies ace Zack Wheeler was limited to five innings for the second consecutive start. He allowed two runs on four hits, including the third career homer by Nationals rookie Daylen Lile. Tanner Banks (4-2) pitched a scoreless sixth. Gore settled down after a rocky first inning that included an RBI double by Harper. He pumped his fist and yelled after he fanned Harrison Bader to end the sixth with the game tied at 2-all. Key moment Riley Adams led off the Nationals' fifth with a walk and the 263-pound catcher caught Wheeler by surprise by stealing his first base of the season. But Wheeler retired the next three batters to keep it tied. Key stat After pitching to a 13.12 ERA in four starts following his first All-Star appearance, Gore has a 1.50 ERA in his two most recent outings. Up next Veteran Phillies RHP Taijuan Walker (4-5, 3.39 ERA) opposes the Nationals' Cade Cavalli (0-0, 3.86), who will make his third start of the season, on Saturday. ___ AP MLB:

Orioles Brandon Young has a perfect game through 6 innings against the Astros

HOUSTON (AP) — Baltimore Orioles right-hander Brandon Young is working on a perfect game through six innings against the Houston Astros on Friday night. Young, who entered the game 0-6 with a 6.70 ERA through the first 10 starts of his MLB, has struck out four while throwing 62 pitches, 42 for strikes. The 26-year-old has faced just two three-ball counts to the 18 hitters he has faced. Baltimore leads Houston 3-0. There have been 24 perfect games in MLB history, the last was thrown by Domingo German of the New York Yankees on June 28, 2023, and the Orioles have never thrown one. Astros left fielder Taylor Trammell attempted to break up the perfect game with a bunt to start the sixth inning, but Johnson fielded the ball to the right of the mound and threw to first base for the out. The Astros had a perfect game thrown against them by Matt Cain of the San Francisco Giants on June 13, 2012. ___ AP MLB:

Donegan advances to US Amateur semifinals to the delight of his large, vocal gallery

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Niall Shiels Donegan, the Scot who grew up in nearby Mill Valley, advanced to the U.S. Amateur semifinals Friday at The Olympic Club to the delight of his large, vocal gallery. Donegan — set for his first season at North Carolina after two years at Northwestern — outlasted Notre Dame junior Jacob Modleski with a par on the 19th hole in windy conditions. Donegan pulled even with a 6-foot birdie putt on the par-5 17th. Donegan will face rising Tennessee sophomore Jackson Herrington, a 4-and-2 winner over Jimmy Abdo of Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota. Herrington and Donegan were among the 17 players who advanced from a 20-man playoff Wednesday morning to determine the final 64 for match play. Donegan's father, Lawrence, was a longtime golf correspondent for The Guardian. In the other semifinal, Georgia teen Mason Howell will face Oklahoma State junior Eric Lee. They each won their matches 1 up, with the 18-year-old Howell beating John Daly II, and Lee edging 16-year-old Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Howell qualified for the U.S. Open this year with rounds of 63-63 from the Atlanta sectional. Daly, a senior-to-be at Arkansas, is the son of two-time major champion John Daly. ___ AP golf:
