Cyriel Dessers Rangers injury update as 3 others return
The Gers head coach insists the Nigerian's knee injury is not as bad as initially feared.
The frontman pulled up during the midweek game against Viktoria Plzen in Champions League qualifying.
Last season's top goalscorer was forced off the field in severe pain, with clips of him jarring his knee in the turf going viral online. This led to speculation he'd even caused damage to his ACL.
Martin has provided an update while previewing tomorrow's Premier Sports Cup last-16 tie against Alloa Athletic.
And the boss insists Dessers will be back in action sooner rather than later, with there even being a possibility of Tuesday's UCL play-off against Club Brugge being enough recovery time for the striker.

Martin said: "Cyriel Dessers' injury was not as bad as we thought; he is still sore, but he will be back in the upcoming weeks.
"We need strength and depth. Turning to the bench and having players make an impact is great.
"Tomorrow will look different from Tuesday, but we have been preparing, and it's been good learning for me and the coaching staff, and we are well prepared for tomorrow."
Meanwhile, there is a boost to Rangers' squad availability heading into Saturday's game.
Mikey Moore, Hamza Igamane and Thelo Aasgaard are all ready for selection against the League One opponent.

Having retained most of the squad for the new campaign, Scott understands that it's not just as simple as demanding the same again. As they embrace the honour of competing in the Champions League, any notion of Scott's team being rank outsiders simply won't wash. But the experienced manager believes the positives more than outweigh any fresh challenges presented by this promotion to the ranks of favourites, explaining: 'From my past experience, being involved in teams when you win trophies, you have that unwritten and unspoken bond – and you will have that forever. Because you were part of something special together. 'That doesn't mean everything will be perfect. You can't have harmony every single day. But you've achieved something quite fantastic. 'The players deserve to be proud of themselves, proud of each other. They did something special – and they did it side by side. Hibs travelled to Jacksonville, Florida, for a pre-season camp that didn't go exactly to plan, with adverse weather forcing the postponement – and then cancellation – of a friendly. In brutal conditions, though, the players were able to build fitness. 'The first little break seems to go quickly, then you start getting players back in pre-season, and if feels like weeks and weeks of training,' said Scott. 'You just want the games to start, to be honest. 'We were privileged to get away to Florida and do the work we had. Obviously working in that sort of heat made it more taxing than it would have been back home, so that was a help – especially looking ahead to the Champions League in Cyprus. 'For us, no matter where you go, it's great to have everyone together for such an intensive period of time. You get maximum time with everyone, all having breakfast, lunch and dinner together, spending time with the team in the evening. This afternoon, the 19-year-old midfielder will finally get his chance to tick that off his bucket list - but in sporting the yellow and black colours of Livingston. That decision appears to have already paid off after starting all six games so far this season and picking up from where he left off during the final six months of the previous campaign. He's bored of hearing numerous stories from his Tynecastle teammates about what it means to get one over their bitter rivals, insisting the time is now to sample that feeling for himself. 'I've never played against Hibs,' Tait revealed as he looked ahead of their Premier Sports Cup tie against David Gray's side. 'I have in the academy, but not in a competitive game, so I'm really looking forward to playing in that. Tait's decision to return to Livingston was a no-brainer, admitting: 'It would have been quite easy just to sit in my comfort zone, sit on the stand or on the bench (at Hearts) and maybe play every now and again but I didn't like it. 'I didn't enjoy not playing. I wanted to test myself and I wanted to play at a high level, so it just made so much more sense to come back to Livi. You've got to play games as much as you can. That's the only way you're going to get better. It's a really good environment here to develop in. It's a great changing room. 'They've (coaching staff) been brilliant with me. Asked whether a conversation took place with Derek McInnes over the summer that convinced him it was the right call to return to West Lothian, Tait responded: 'I'd say it was more the gaffer here, to be honest. He was pushing it a lot. 'We spoke and both agreed that there was a chance to go back to somewhere where I was comfortable and try to play as many games in the top flight, and then see where it takes us after that. I think that was his big message — to kick on from last season and continue into this. 'There was no point staying at Hearts and getting 20-30 minutes at the end of games. I'd done that for a bit. It was now — can I do it for 90 minutes? That's where we're at, can I do it every single week from the start? 'Coming here, I didn't have to try and impress anyone again. I just had to do what I was doing and keep putting a smile on my face. That's what has brought the best out of me.' Tait still has ambitions of becoming a regular starter in Gorgie and knows that racking up the appearances whilst performing to a high standard for Livi is a necessity in order to catch McInnes' eye. One of the most significant stories will be the reunion of Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim and the Gunners' star striker signing Viktor Gyokeres. The pair wreaked havoc together at Sporting Lisbon. Following Gyokeres' stunning hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League - Amorim's farewell home match as Sporting boss - it seemed inevitable he would follow him to Old Trafford. Though United were reportedly keen on securing his services, the Swedish sensation had his heart set solely on a move to Mikel Arteta's side, regardless of Amorim taking charge at the Theatre of Dreams. He made his intentions crystal clear when questioned about his choice shortly after the official announcement. He said: "There were other clubs, of course, but this wasn't a hard choice. I chose Arsenal. When I was playing against Arsenal last season [in the Champions League], I could really feel it was a very strong team and very difficult to play against. "That made me choose Arsenal, and of course all the history the club has and the massive fanbase. It's been amazing to see all the support that they have already given me before I even arrived. That's what it's all about. It's going to be very nice to see them in the stadiums as well." Gyokeres' agent was unhappy with Amorim (Image: 2025 Ben Roberts - Danehouse) Reports from Portuguese outlet Record claimed Gyokeres' agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, was left "hurt" by the United boss. As well as representing the Arsenal striker, he also looks after former United defender Victor Lindelof. Following eight years at Old Trafford, the Red Devils decided against offering the ex-Benfica centre-back fresh terms, leading to his departure on a free transfer. It's understood Lindelof was keen to remain and battle for his position, but Amorim chose to release the 31-year-old. This move reportedly left Cetinkaya "upset". At the time, it was claimed the door has been closed for a potential switch to Old Trafford for Gyokeres following Lindelof's departure. It proved irrelevant as it became clear the striker favoured Arsenal. United had also already dismissed themselves from pursuing him before securing Benjamin Sesko. Gyokeres has already revealed his honest thoughts on Amorim (Image: 2024 DeFodi Images) Gyokeres started making a name for himself at Coventry City, but his time under Amorim is what saw him become one of the most talked-about players in world football. Despite his admiration for the United manager, he confessed he was left stunned by his exit. He has previously said: "It was a shock. It's never happened to me to see a manager leave in the middle of the season when everything was going well. It was surprising, but I totally understand his decision." Amorim also delivered some frank remarks about Gyokeres when quizzed about speculation surrounding the striker back in April. He appeared to hint the forward would not have fancied a switch to United unless they secured Champions League football. The Red Devils boss said: "I didn't talk to Viktor. But if a player only wants to join Manchester United to play Champions League then that player will not come to Manchester United. We want players who want to represent United and not players who want to play only certain competitions." Whilst there were occasions when it appeared the Portuguese manager was creating unnecessary difficulties by persisting with his 3-4-3 system, he's remained committed to the approach which delivered silverware at Sporting. If anyone flourished and thrived under Amorim's methods, it was Gyokeres. Previously, the striker acknowledged this himself in another interview. He said: "We won two championships in a row, for the first time in 71 years. It's an incredible achievement, and of course, Ruben Amorim played a big role in that. I can't thank him enough. The style of play we had under his orders suited me perfectly." If Gyokeres had opted for United, his remarks about his ex-manager's playing style hint that he would have been optimistic about making a name for himself at Old Trafford.
