Hunt for murder suspect who dropped off baby after four relatives found dead

A car has been found in the search for a man suspected of murder who abandoned a baby girl after murdering four of her relatives. Austin Robert Drummond, 28, remains on the run after being wanted for the murder of James M Wilson, 21, Adrianna Williams, 20, Cortney Rose, 38, and Braydon Williams, 15 in Tennessee, US. After killing the family members, officers say Drummond dropped off the seven-month-old girl and, in an act of 'compassion', indicated her presence to nearby people. The baby is now being cared for and looked after, authorities confirmed. Adrianna and Braydon Williams were the children of Ms Rose. Police have now discovered a car driven by Drummond in Jackson, 70 miles from where the family's bodies were found and 40 miles away from where the baby was left. Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Director David Rausch said he believed Drummond had targeted the family, with whom he had a relationship. He described Drummond's choice to abandon the baby while alerting members of the public as an 'act of compassion'. More Trending 'While this was an extremely tragic and violent event… there was a sign of compassion, if you will', he said. A family member of one of the victims wrote online that they had 'trusted' Drummond, who had been 'nothing short of amazing to us and our kids', Sky News reported. A $15,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of Drummond, who is wanted on four counts of first-degree murder, one count of aggravated kidnapping, and weapons offences. He had a previous conviction in 2014 for aggravated robbery, for which he served prison, where he was further charged with criminal offences, including attempted murder. Fourth person found dead at beneath beauty spot cliff in just four days

A fourth person has been found dead beneath cliffs near Whitby Abbey in just four days. Emergency services were called to the iconic beach 11.01am today after reports a woman's body had been found found at Sandsend near Whitby Abbey. Officers later discovered the body behind the main cark park, below the cliffs. It comes after three other people have been found dead beneath the cliffs this week. A man and woman, believed to be in their 40s, fell to their deaths from 200ft cliffs behind Whitby Abbey on Wednesday evening. Brian Vickers, 63, camping nearby, told MailOnline the path was 'extremely busy with walkers and dog walkers'. He said: 'I was told the couple who died were walking along the path. Another couple were coming the other way. 'The next thing we know is they jumped. It was absolutely horrific to see. The poor souls did not stand a chance. They fell straight onto the rocks below. 'The coastguard helicopter arrived in an hour and we witnessed the horrific scene of them being winched from the beach to waiting ambulances on the cliff top.' A woman aged in her 60s was also found dead by the cliffs near Whitby Pavilion on Thursday. North Yorkshire Police said: 'It has been confirmed that the woman is aged in her 50s and from the local area. 'Officers are supporting the woman's family at this difficult time. 'The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.' The force added: 'There are no connections between this sudden death, the sudden deaths of a man and woman below Whitby Abbey on Wednesday 30 July or the woman below Whitby Abbey on Thursday 31 July.' Plans for new offence to crack down on promoting Channel crossings online

The offence would also outlaw the promise of illegal working being promoted online and could carry a large fine. (PA Graphics) It comes as the Government grapples with a record number of migrants arriving in the UK after crossing the English Channel. On Wednesday, arrivals passed more than 25,000 for the year so far, a record for this point in the year. Assisting illegal immigration to the UK is already a crime, but officials believe the changes will give more powers to police and other agencies to disrupt criminal gangs. According to analysis by the Home Office, around 80% of migrants arriving to the UK by small boat told officials they used social media during their journey, including to contact agents linked to people smuggling gangs. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said: 'Selling the false promise of a safe journey to the UK and a life in this country – whether on or offline – simply to make money, is nothing short of immoral. 'These criminals have no issue with leading migrants to life-threatening situations using brazen tactics on social media. We are determined to do everything we can to stop them, wherever they operate. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper described anyone who sells the 'promise of a safe journey to the UK and a life in this country – whether on or offline – simply to make money, is nothing short of immoral' (Jacob King/PA) The National Crime Agency already works with social media companies to remove posts promoting crossings, with more than 8,000 taken offline in 2024. NCA director general of operations Rob Jones said the proposed new offence will give them more options of how to target gangs and their business models. Previous cases that could have been targeted under the proposed offence include a Preston-based smuggler jailed for 17 years for posting videos of migrants thanking him for his help. Albanian smugglers who used social media to promote £12,000 'package deals' for accommodation and a job in the UK on arrival would also be in scope. The Conservatives said it was 'too little, too late' and that only their proposal to automatically deport people who enter Britain via unauthorised routes can tackle small boat crossings. Shadow home secretary Chris Philp said: 'Tinkering at the edges won't fix the problem. 'Labour still has no clear plan to deter illegal entry, no effective enforcement and no strategy to speed up removals. This is a panicked attempt to look tough after months of doing nothing. 'The only clear and enforceable plan is the Conservative Deportation Bill, a no-nonsense strategy that allows us to detain illegal arrivals immediately and remove them without delay. The British public deserve focused action, not more of Labour's dithering.'
