Sabang: 30 Injured, 7 Critical After Hornet Attack During Independence Day School March In Bengal
What Happened:
The incident took place during a prabhat pheri (morning march) organised by Balpai Pashupati Surendra Vidyapith High School to mark the 78th Independence Day. The event began with students and teachers marching through local streets, accompanied by drums and other instruments.
According to witnesses, the group was passing through a road near a village when hornets—disturbed from a nearby nest—suddenly swarmed the procession. Panic ensued as participants screamed in pain and scattered in different directions to escape the stings.

A total of 30 people, including several teachers, sustained injuries. Seven of them were critically hurt and rushed to Sabang Hospital. Two of the most serious cases were transferred to Medinipur Medical College for advanced treatment.

Former student held after attack on teacher in Madhya Pradesh's Narsingpur
An 18-year-old youth has been arrested in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district for allegedly setting a teacher on fire , police said on Thursday (August 21, 2025). According to the police, the incident took place on August 18 at the woman's house under Kotwali police station limits following some arguments between her and the accused, identified as Suryansh Gochar. The victim was a teacher at a private school, where Gochar had studied until two years ago. Narsinghpur Additional Superintendent of Police Sandeep Bhuria told The Hindu that the matter was reported to the police on August 18 night and the accused was arrested the next day. Mr. Bhuria said that the victim had suffered about 30% burns and was referred to a hospital in Jabalpur. 'There were no deep burns. She is now stable but the doctors have kept her under observation,' he said. Mr. Bhuria said that the accused had been asked to leave the school two years ago after Class 10. 'He used to like Ms. Dikshit and on the occasion of Independence Day this year, the victim wore a saree and the accused passed some comments on her. This led to some arguments between them,' the Additional SP said, adding that on August 18, he went to her house and set her ablaze. The officer said that a case was filed under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the accused has been sent to judicial custody.

Night curfew imposed along Bangla border: East Khasi Hills DM
Shillong: The East Khasi Hills district magistrate has, under Section 163 BNSS, imposed a night curfew from 8pm to 6am within a radius of 1km from the Zero Line (international border). The curfew prohibits movement of people along the international border with the intention of crossing into Bangladesh or sneaking into the Indian territory. Unauthorised procession or unlawful assembly of five or more persons and carrying of arms or other instruments which can be used as weapons, including sticks or rods and stones, in and around the India-Bangladesh border along with illegal, undesirable activities, including smuggling of cattle, contraband goods, betel-nuts, betel leaves, dry fish, bidis, cigarettes, chai patti, etc have also been prohibited, according to the official order issued on Thursday. The order was necessitated in view of the current situation in Bangladesh due to which there is every likelihood of the cross-border movement of unwanted elements, members of proscribed militant groups, smugglers and any other illegal activities on India-Bangladesh border, the notification said. The official order pointed out that certain stretches of the India-Bangladesh border areas in East Khasi Hills district are still porous and prone to infiltration by illegal migrants and members of organised crime. These groups may gather in large numbers near the border during night hours to continue with their 'nefarious activities', and 'whereas, such illegal/undesirable activities, if not prevented, may lead to uncontrollable cross border infiltration resulting in breach of peace and tranquillity' in the district, the night curfew was necessitated. "This order comes into force with immediate effect and will remain in force for a period of two months from the date of issue," the statement said. 7 held for having mule accounts used in crimes
Ranchi: The criminal investigation department (CID) has nabbed seven persons from different parts of the state for having mule accounts, which were used for fraudulent transactions amounting to Rs 32.6 crore in various cybercrime cases. Those arrested are identified as Roushan Kumar and Satish Kumar of Ranchi, Rajendra Kumar Saw of Koderma, Pran Ranjan Sinha of Palamu, Jitendra Kumar Pappu of Jamtara, Nurej Ansari of Lohardaga and Ganesh Chik Baraik of Simdega district. "The arrests were made from the native districts of the accused persons in the past week. The investigation has exposed a deep-rooted inter-state network of cybercriminals," the CID said in a statement. According to the CID, mule accounts were used for cybercrimes with links in Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Kerala. Around 15,000 mule accounts have been identified in Jharkhand alone through analysis of the Samavaya portal launched by the Indian cyber crime coordination centre of the Union ministry of home affairs. In a step to prevent cyber crimes, the CID had registered a case on July 29 against 40 mule accounts having transactions of Rs 10 lakhs or more. The investigation into the remaining 33 mule accounts is underway. The CID has appealed to the people to remain vigilant against offers promising high returns and report suspicious activities on the helpline number 1930.
