Artificial intelligence (AI) is quietly weaving its way into our daily lives. Goldman Sachs estimates that 9.2% of U.S. companies now use AI to produce goods and services, twice the number using the technology at the same time last year. And Morgan Stanley estimates that AI software sales will increase by 580% over the next three years, topping $400 billion in 2028.
AppLovin (NASDAQ: APP) and HubSpot (NYSE: HUBS) are likely to benefit from that trend, and most Wall Street analysts see substantial upside in the stocks, as detailed below:
Among 31 analysts that follow AppLovin, the median target price is $470 per share. That implies 29% upside from its current share price of $364.
Among 38 analysts that follow HubSpot, the median target price is $750 per share. That implies 38% upside from its current share price of $542.
Here's what investors should know about these software companies.
1. AppLovin
AppLovin develops adtech software. For years, the company has focused on helping game developers market and monetize their applications, but it has recently introduced adtech software designed for e-commerce brands. Its platform features a targeting engine called Axon that uses artificial intelligence to match advertiser demand with publisher supply across connected TV and mobile devices.
Morgan Stanley recently selected AppLovin as one of the companies best positioned to benefit from growing AI software spending. The analysts called Axon a "best in class machine learning ad engine," saying it has delivered superior return on ad spend for brands on the platform. The report also highlighted AppLovin's in-house creative agency, SparkLabs, which uses generative AI to develop ad content.
AppLovin reported excellent first-quarter financial results. Total revenue increased 40% to $1.4 billion, as strong sales growth in the advertising segment offset a decline in the mobile games segment. Meanwhile, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) earnings climbed 149% to $1.67 per diluted share. And management guided for 69% advertising sales growth in the second quarter.
Wall Street estimates that AppLovin's earnings will increase by 55% annually through 2026. That makes the current valuation of 66 times earnings look reasonable, especially since the company beat the consensus estimate by an average of 27% over the last four quarters. Patient investors should feel comfortable buying a small position today.
2. HubSpot
HubSpot develops customer relationship management (CRM) software. Its platform comprises productivity applications for marketing, sales, customer service, and operations teams. It also includes solutions for content management and payments. HubSpot's focus on mid-market businesses (defined as those with 2 to 2,000 employees) differentiates it from industry leader Salesforce, which has designed its platform for large enterprises.
HubSpot has embedded its platform with an AI engine called Breeze. It can summarize CRM records, draft emails, create webpages, generate social media posts, and provide customer support. It can also analyze information, surface insights, and make recommendations that improve efficiency across sales, marketing, and customer service workflows.
HubSpot reported mixed first-quarter financial results due to the macroeconomic uncertainty created by tariffs. Customers climbed 19%, but the average existing customer spent 4% less. In turn, revenue increased 16% to $714 million, but non-GAAP net income increased just 6% to $1.78 per diluted share, as operating margin contracted due to ongoing investments in product development.
Management provided positive updates on AI adoption on the earnings call. "Over the past year, Content Hub attach rates have tripled and Service Hub adoption has improved because of embedded AI," according to CEO Yamini Rangan. She also told analysts that the number of businesses engaging with Breeze Copilot more than doubled compared to the previous quarter.
Wall Street estimates that HubSpot's adjusted earnings will increase by 19% annually through 2026. That makes the current valuation of 66 times adjusted earnings look expensive. But I think earnings could grow more quickly. HubSpot exceeded the consensus estimate by an average of 10% in the last four quarters, and the company could continue to beat estimates as it monetizes new AI features. Investors should consider buying a very small position today.

Should You Hold or Sell CRWV Stock Before Q2 Earnings Release?

CoreWeave, Inc. CRWV will report its second-quarter 2025 results on Aug. 12, after market close. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the bottom line in the to-be-reported quarter is pegged at a loss of 23 cents. The estimate has been unchanged in the past 60 days. The consensus estimate for total revenues is pinned at $1.08 billion. This is CoreWeave's second earnings release since it started trading as a listed company on March 28, 2025. CoreWeave is an AI-focused infrastructure company and its cloud platform has been developed to scale, support, and accelerate GenAI. In the last reported quarter, CRWV reported a loss of $1.49 per share, which was much wider than a loss of 62 cents in the year-ago quarter. Loss per share includes $177 million of stock-based compensation expense for awards with a liquidity-event performance-based vesting condition, which was satisfied at IPO. Adjusted net loss for the quarter was $149.6 million compared with $23.6 million a year ago. Factors to Focus on Ahead of CRWV's Q2 Earnings Amid the AI infrastructure boom, increasing demand for CoreWeave's cloud software and infrastructure services is likely to have driven the top-line performance. In the last reported quarter, CRWV's revenues jumped 420% year over year, ending the quarter with a backlog of $25.9 billion. Besides a $11.9 billion deal with OpenAI, CRWV has added several new enterprise customers and a hyperscaler client in the last reported quarter. It also signed expansion agreements with many customers, including a $4 billion expansion with a big AI-enterprise customer. CRWV added that the $4 billion expansion agreement signed with a big AI client will be reflected in revenue backlog beginning in the second quarter. In addition to scaling capacity and getting adequate financing for infrastructure, CRWV is also expanding its go-to-market capabilities. Moreover, the buyout of the Weights and Biases acquisition has added 1,400 AI labs and enterprises as clients for CoreWeave. Building on this, the company unveiled three major offerings in June, which aim to help AI teams develop, deploy and iterate faster by combining CoreWeave's cloud infrastructure with Weights & Biases' developer platform. CoreWeave also boasts a growing data center network across the United States and Europe. It has a network of 33 purpose-built AI-data centers across the United States and Europe, supported by 420MW of active power. In July, it announced $6 billion to build a new state-of-the-art AI data center in Lancaster, PA, with an initial capacity of 100 megawatts (MW) and a potential to scale up to 300MW. The Lancaster facility will add to the company's 1.6 gigawatt (GW) of contracted power, offering a multiyear runway in power capacity. CRWV's collaboration with NVIDIA Corporation bodes well. CRWV implements the latter's GPU technologies at scale. Nonetheless, CRWV faces plenty of challenges. CoreWeave faces tough competition in the AI cloud infrastructure space, which boasts behemoths like Amazon AMZN, Microsoft MSFT and other pure play AI infra companies like Nebius NBIS. Amazon Web Services and Microsoft's Azure cloud platform together dominate more than half of the cloud market. With everyone vying for a share of the lucrative market, client acquisition gets increasingly difficult. CRWV's aggressive capital deployment strategy is a key concern. CRWV expects capex to be between $20 billion and $23 billion for 2025 due to accelerated investment in the platform to meet customer demand. High capex, even with a success-based model, exposes CoreWeave to execution risks if contract revenue does not materialize on time. For the second quarter, capex is forecast to be $3 billion to $3.5 billion. CoreWeave's aggressive data center buildout is being funded in part by debt. CoreWeave issued $2 billion in new notes in May and followed that with this $1.75 billion issuance again in July. It also recently closed a $2.6 billion delayed draw term loan facility ('DDTL 3.0 Facility') to ramp up delivery of services for OpenAI and boost its infrastructure footprint. Interest expense is expected to remain elevated, at $260-$300 million in the second quarter. Higher interest expenses can exert pressure on the adjusted net income and potentially affect free cash flow generation. CRWV also anticipates stock-based compensation to remain slightly higher in 2025 for the grants issued about the IPO. CoreWeave's 77% of total revenues in 2024 came from the top two customers. This intense customer concentration is a major risk, especially if the client migrates; the revenue impact could be material. Apart from this evolving trade policy, macro uncertainty and volatility remain additional headwinds. In terms of Price/Book, CRWV shares are trading at 27.76X, way higher than the Internet Software industry's ratio of 6.97X, but it could mean more risk than opportunity. This bodes well for CRWV. Despite a robust market, CoreWeave faces tremendous competition from Azure, AWS and Google Cloud. Also, customer concentration and huge capex owing to data center expansion remain headwinds. What Should You Do With CRWV Stock Before Q2? CoreWeave's heavy customer concentration and ballooning capex pose risk, especially if revenues fall short. The company's elevated interest expenses and continued dilution from stock-based comp add further pressure on margins. With a lofty valuation and weak stock performance, CRWV remains vulnerable heading into the second quarter. Given the unfavorable Zacks Rank, investors would be better off if they offloaded CRWV from portfolios before the second quarter. Intel's stock tumbles after Trump says its CEO must resign

Shares of Intel slumped Thursday after President Donald Trump said in a social media post that the chipmaker's CEO needs to resign. 'The CEO of Intel is highly CONFLICTED and must resign, immediately,' Trump posted on Truth Social. 'There is no other solution to this problem. Thank you for your attention to this problem!' Trump made the post after Sen. Tom Cotton sent a letter to Intel Chairman Frank Yeary expressing concern over CEO Lip-Bu Tan's investments and ties to semiconductor firms that are reportedly linked to the Chinese Communist Party and the People's Liberation Army, and asked the board whether Tan had divested his interests in these companies to eliminate any conflicts of interest. Cotton specifically called out Tan's recent leadership of Cadence Design Systems in the letter. The tech company admitted in July to selling its products to China's National University of Defense Technology in violation of U.S. export controls. 'In March 2025, Intel appointed Lip-Bu Tan as its new CEO," Cotton wrote in the letter. "Mr. Tan reportedly controls dozens of Chinese companies and has a stake in hundreds of Chinese advanced-manufacturing and chip firms. At least eight of these companies reportedly have ties to the Chinese People's Liberation Army.' 'U.S. companies who receive government grants should be responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars and adhere to strict security regulations,' Cotton wrote on the social platform X. Intel had been a beneficiary of the Biden administration's CHIPS Act, receiving more than $8 billion in federal funding to build computer chip plants around the country. Intel did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The demands made by Trump and Cotton come as economic and political rivalries between the U.S. and China increasingly focus on the competition over chips, AI and other digital technologies that experts say will shape future economies and military conflicts. Cotton, the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, has raised concerns that Chinese spies could be working at tech companies and defense contractors, using their positions to steal secrets or plant digital backdoors that give China access to classified systems and networks. On Thursday the Arkansas Republican wrote to the Department of Defense urging Defense Secrectary Pete Hegseth to ban all non-U.S. citizens from jobs allowing them to access DoD networks. He has also demanded an investigation into Chinese citizens working for defense contractors. 'The U.S. government recognizes that China's cyber capabilities pose one of the most aggressive and dangerous threats to the United States, as evidenced by infiltration of our critical infrastructure, telecommunications networks, and supply chains,' Cotton wrote in an earlier letter calling on the Pentagon to conduct the investigation. National security officials have linked China's government to hacking campaigns targeting prominent Americans and critical U.S. systems. Shares of the California company slid 3.5%, while markets, particularly the tech-heavy Nasdaq, gained ground. Founded in 1968 at the start of the PC revolution, Intel missed the technological shift to mobile computing triggered by Apple's 2007 release of the iPhone, and it's lagged more nimble chipmakers. Intel's troubles have been magnified since the advent of artificial intelligence — a booming field where the chips made by once-smaller rival Nvidia have become tech's hottest commodity. Intel is shedding thousands of workers and cutting expenses — including some domestic semiconductor manufacturing capabilities — as Tan, who took over as CEO in March, tries to revive the fortunes of the struggling chipmaker.
