Hollyoaks icon collapses in supermarket as hero shop worker rushes to their aid
A Hollyoaks star, who has been a stalwart on the Channel 4 soap for more than a decade, collapsed in a Morrisons supermarket as a shop worker rushed to help her
Hollyoaks star Tamara Wall sparked concern amongst fans as she revealed she collapsed in a Morrisons supermarket store earlier this week.
The soap star, 47, posted a photo of herself smiling while stood next to a supermarket worker to praise him as she rushed to her aid during her time of need. As she shared the selfie on Instagram, Tamara gushed over the help she'd received and revealed her medical woes.
She wrote in the caption: "Dear @morrisons I need you to know how amazing your staff in Warrington are!! This guy in particularly was my actual hero when I collapsed in their store, I cannot give enough thanks to all the staff for being so unbelievable lovely ! #morrisons #love". The supermarket worker then responded to Tamara's post in the comments as he wrote: "it was my pleasure @tamarawall13 and I'm glad your ok".
Meanwhile, concerned fans rushed to the comments to ask Tamara if she was OK. One said: "Hope you're okay and I'm glad someone was there to help!" Another added: "Oh Tam. I hope you're ok xxx".
"Hope you're okay and I'm glad someone was there to help!," a second wrote while Jessamy Stoddart, who plays Liberty Savage on the soap, wrote: "Oh Tam. I hope you're ok xxx".
Meanwhile actress Gemma Bissix, who plays Clare Devine in Hollyoaks, praised Tamara for returning to work so soon after the incident. She wrote in one comment: "Yayyyyy you went back!!! Thank you to all at Morrisons Warrington for looking after my sis!!!," followed by two green heart emojis.
She added in a separate comment: "Also you are my HERO… coming into work the next day filming a full day of scenes!!! Sick day? What sick day? x".
Tamara is best known for her role on Hollyoaks, which she undertook in 2013. She was left devastated in 2023 when soap bosses announced her character was set to be axed.
Speaking to OK! magazine at the time, she said: "It's absolutely devastating. When I got told, I bawled my eyes out for three days, I was so upset – it's been the best time of my life.
"It wasn't my decision, but I understand. It's the name of the game, and Grace was going to get her comeuppance at some point. In the end, she probably deserved it. But I'm sure she'll find her way out eventually, she'll be back."
Grace's Hollyoaks exit was initially intended to be permanent, but Tamara reprised the role after the soap underwent leadership changes. And, in 2024, Tamara was signed back onto the cast list.
And that wasn't all for the soap as Grace's sister Clare Devine made a bombshell return to Hollyoaks after her character was killed off. Tamara gushed over Clare's comeback as it marked the first time the sisters are on-screen together.
Last month, Tamara shared a series of photos of herself alongside Gemma and captioned the post: "FINALLY THIS IS HAPPENING!!!!! Where do I even begin ….. to say I was excited when I heard @gbissix was coming back is an understatement!! In fact I cried down the phone when she told me !!!
"I've been honoured to have had this gorgeous, incredible, talented , funny and unbelievably loving woman in my life for close to 12 years and to say I love her doesn't do it enough justice ….. but she knows exactly what she means to me ! Finally after all this time we actually get to work together!
"And when I say work I mean we're basically playing best friend dress up all day , everyday working with Gemma is such a dream and I literally can't wait for you guys to see what we've been up to! I've always loved my job but now it's been made even better !!!!! So watch this space cause sisters are doing it for themselves !!!"

First look at harrowing Hollyoaks abuse plot as son violently attacks his dad in brutal scenes
HOLLYOAKS has shared a first look at a harrowing abuse plot which sees a son violently attack his dad. The soap is highlighting child to parent abuse (CPA) in a dark storyline. 4 4 Viewers saw Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis) violently lash out at dad Ste (Kieron Richardson) amid a tense argument. After Lucas' brain tumour operation, he had been concerned about boyfriend Dillon (Nathaniel Dass). Fans know Dillon recently went through a terrifying exploitation ordeal plot. However, Ste insisted Lucas focus on his own recovery, rather than ask about his boyfriend. While in the village, Ste spotted Dillon attempting to steal cash from Liberty Savage's market stall. Dillon rocked back and forth on the ground, while declaring that he needed more spice. Upon seeing Ste, Dillon blamed him for his poor mental state. Ste apologised for keeping Lucas and Dillon apart and for referring to Dillon as "just an addict". Realising it could help both Dillon and Lucas' recovery, Ste invited him to live with the family. But Lucas was left confused later on after Ste broke the news to him. Hollyoaks star quits after nine years - and his final scenes have already aired Ste explained how he'd told Dillon to break up with Lucas - as well as keep away during the operation and recovery. Left furious, Lucas raged: "What kind of a dad does that? None of this is okay. You've messed with my whole life, Dad." The pair's argument soon got more heated as they pushed each other. This saw Lucas then get violent by punching dad Ste in the stomach. Lived experience organisation PEGS (Parental Education Growth Support) have consulted with Hollyoaks on this storyline. Michelle John, Founding Director of PEGS, said: 'We're proud to support Hollyoaks in bringing awareness to Child to Parent Abuse, taking a vital step towards this important issue being more widely recognised and spoken about. "CPA is often hidden or misunderstood, and it's vital that we start more conversations about what families are really experiencing behind closed doors. "Being such a popular programme, we know that the Hollyoaks storyline will help parents who are experiencing abusive behaviours to feel more confident in asking for support from those around them. "We're also confident it will provoke these much-needed conversations among the wider public, and we thank the production team and the actors for their commitment to portraying the storyline in a sensitive and realistic manner. Darkest soap storylines Over the years the likes of EastEnders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street have all tried to try outdo each other with their outlandish plots in a bid to keep us tuning in each week. But here are some of the darkest that had fans in shock... EastEnders: Tony grooming Whitney (2008-2009) - Tony King first appeared in Albert Square in 2008 as the boyfriend of Bianca, played by Patsy Palmer. But it was quickly revealed he was a paedophile who had been grooming vulnerable Whitney, Bianca's adopted stepdaughter from a previous relationship, since she was 12. The shocking storyline attracted more than 200 complaints within a week of it beginning. Whitney waited until her 16th birthday to reveal the truth to a horrified Bianca, who called the police. Emmerdale: Holly's drug addiction and shock death (2010-2016) - In 2010, Holly Barton (played by Sophie Powles) became Emmerdale's first teenage drug addict. The shocking storyline saw her taking cocaine on a night out before developing a deadly heroin habit. Parents John and Moira desperately tried to help get their daughter clean but when Holly returned in 2016, following a four-year absence, she quickly relapsed. Fans were left stunned and heartbroken when distraught Moira found Holly dead in her bed from a heroin overdose. Hollyoaks: Luke's rape (2000) - Actor Gary Lucy was just 17 when he took on this groundbreaking storyline, which saw his character Luke Morgan become soap's first male rape victim. Luke had endured a long-running bullying campaign by football rival Mark Gibbs - who raped him after Luke stood up to him. Luke was left suicidal following the brutal attack, before opening up to his brother Adam. Gibbs was sentenced to eight years in prison. Gary won the Best Actor gong at the British Soap Awards in 2000 for his performance. Coronation Street: Evil Richard Hillman (2001-2003) - Just a mere mention of 'Richard Hillman' is enough to send a shiver down the spines of soap fans. He is often ranked one of the most evil soap villains and it's not hard to see why. The smooth-talking financial adviser bashed his ex-wife Patricia over the head with a shovel. In a bid to keep his mother-in-law Audrey quiet, he set fire to her house. And when Maxine caught him trying to murder Emily Bishop, he took a crowbar to her head. He made his exit from the cobbles in 2003 when he drove Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, and her family into the canal. They survived, but he didn't. "Families experiencing CPA are not looking for blame to be placed upon their children, and this storyline reflects the need for early intervention, support and understanding as well as highlighting the complex emotions and challenges many families face.' While Kieron Richardson, who plays Ste, previously said: "This storyline is one that as a parent is conflicting, as you would do anything for your kids. "We often think of parents disciplining children, but what happens when the dynamic is reversed? It's uncomfortable, it's emotional, and it's real. We've worked closely with experts to make sure this is portrayed truthfully, and I hope it encourages the kind of conversations that might help families going through similar situations feel seen and supported.' 4 4

Controversial Channel 4 show has been renewed despite 'disturbing' reviews
Virgin Island received backlash from viewers for the show's 'exploitative' premise, which involved encouraging adult virgins to embrace their sexuality for the first time on TV Channel 4's boundary-pushing series Virgin Island has officially been renewed for a second series, despite a wave of backlash from shocked viewers who branded it "disturbing" and "exploitative". Virgin Island, which has been described as "groundbreaking and heartwarming" by Channel 4 bosses, followed 12 adult virgins on a journey of sexual self-discovery at a luxury Mediterranean retreat. Participants in the show were guided through a unique intimacy course by sexologists Celeste Hirschman and Dr. Danielle Harel, which is designed to help them overcome their fears around sex and connection. Although every episode aired after the 9pm watershed, many viewers were stunned by the show's unfiltered approach to experiential sex therapy – which saw one of the participants lose their virginity to sex surrogate on the show. At the time, audiences took to X to share their thoughts, with one writing: "It feels wrong to be watching this." Another viewer shared: "This is just getting disturbingly weird now." "This is so exploitative. I'm panicking myself and I'm watching it at home!! I can't even imagine being one of them right now. This is awful," wrote a third. And a fourth said: "I'm sorry but that Virgin island maybe the most disturbing thing channel 4 has ever released". Despite the controversy, Virgin Island has quickly become Channel 4's biggest streaming hit of the year across all genres. It is now the most-watched show for 16–34s in 2025 so far, overtaking major titles like Taskmaster, Gogglebox, and Married at First Sight Australia. The first season had a series average of 1.4 million viewers per episode, and received almost 9 million total streams, so it is clear the show struck a chord with younger audiences. Ian Katz, Channel 4's Chief Content Officer, said: "Virgin Island is the kind of show only Channel 4 would make – exploring an important but under-discussed social issue with warmth, sensitivity and wit. We're delighted that it resonated with younger viewers." The show's commissioning editor, Jonah Weston, added: "This is a live issue among young people, and from the brave cast to our wonderful experts, I don't think I've ever worked on anything quite so bold, warm and well-intentioned. Watch out for season 2 – it'll be even bigger and bolder." Executive Producer Rob Davis called the show's success "incredible", adding: "Its bold and fresh approach clearly struck a chord with the younger generation." One of the most controversial practises on the show was the use of surrogate partners, who were professionals the cast were allowed to practise sexual intimacy with if they so desired. However, the show's sexologists have defended Channel 4's methods, emphasising that the stars were looked after every step of the way. Celeste and Danielle shared: "A surrogate partner therapist works in conjunction with a traditional licensed therapist and then a client. The therapist is there so if anything emotional comes up for the client that they have someone to process it with, and the surrogate partner can go step-by-step through erotic experiences." Danielle continued: "During the show, all the coaches, all the practitioners were really mindful about consent. We taught them first to say no. We kept checking, tracking their like nervous system and if they're like recoiling like., 'What's happening?' "So we're constantly aware of making sure that they are comfortable even though it's not like it was easy, but they're comfortable with the next growing moment." Virgin Island participant Dave, who was the only person to lose his virginity on the show, has also spoken highly of it, saying: "I had an amazing time on the island… I can't speak highly enough of the experts and production team. I was lucky enough to achieve the ultimate aim of the series whilst on the island, and I can't wait to see the next group of participants go on the same journey. It's completely changed my life."

Ditch your weekend plans to watch 'addictive' Italian crime thriller for free
If you're prepared to spend your weekend with two detectives on the hunt for a serial killer, Channel 4 has your next binge watch waiting. In the Italian crime drama Pale Mountains – titled Brennero when it was released in the US and Canada earlier this year – there's a murderer on the loose who is exclusively targeting German-speaking locals. Set in the Alpine city bridging Italy and Austria, the new four-part gritty thriller touches on the political and cultural forces at work in what is the meeting point between northern and southern Europe. All the while, a manhunt unfolds for a serial killer the police tried to catch years before but failed to. Think David Fincher's 2007 film Zodiac for what sort of vibe you'll get. The killer laid low for three years, but when a German man is killed, it has all the hallmarks of the notorious serial killer who was never caught. Heading up the investigation in the city of Bolzano are a classically mismatched pair of law enforcement officers, with grisled and discredited inspector Paolo Costa (Matteo Martari) and ambitious but rookie prosecutor Eva Kofler (Elena Radonicich). As they try to piece together the serial killer's identity, Costa and Kofler must also settle their differences, with radically contrasting approaches to hunting down the infamous Monster of Bolzano (Paolo Briguglia). The two officers become a microcosm for the differences within Bolzano itself as they try to uncover the so-called Monster, who has shattered what was an already fragile the sense of community. The Italian and German-language drama is now available for free on Channel 4 through the broadcaster's Walter Presents offshoot. Launching back in 2016, it is an on-demand platform with a selection of award-winning foreign-language dramas, hand-picked by Walter Iuzzolino. Strap in, because the Pale Mountains episodes are bumper-length and close to two hours a piece. More Trending Within the four two-hour episodes, there's a focus on the main manhunt, as well as other cases woven in around it and the personal lives of those involved. The show has a 6.9 rating on IDMb, from over 100 user reviews, and has been labelled an 'addictive watch' by Good Housekeeping. View More » Pale Mountains is available to stream on Channel 4.
