SOG chief VK Singh to receive Prez police medal on I-Day
1 2 Jaipur: Senior IPS officer and ADG SOG and ATS VK Singh will be awarded the President's Police Medal, while 14 others will receive the Police Medal at the state-level Independence Day ceremony in Jodhpur Friday. DGP Rajeev Kumar Sharma said the honours will be conferred at Barkatullah Khan Stadium. Singh, known for the crackdown on organised paper leak mafia and systemic corruption in recruitment exams, was recognised for leading some of the state's most complex and high-profile investigations. He spearheaded probes into a string of govt recruitment exam fraud cases that rattled public trust in the system. These included the Sub-Inspector (SI) 2021 paper leak, the Junior Engineer (JEN) paper leak, a racket selling fake and backdated degrees, and a fraudulent disability quota network used to secure jobs illegally. Singh also heads the Special Investigation Team tasked not only with investigating past paper leak cases but also with preventing future breaches. Under his leadership, the SIT implemented tighter protocols, coordinated with the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) and the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB), and tightened surveillance on examination processes. HC grants interim bail to co-accused in transport ‘scam'
Bhopal/Jabalpur: The MP high court has granted interim bail to Chetan Singh, a co-accused in the transport "scam", so he can care for his wife and newborn twins. The case involves the seizure of over Rs 100 crore in cash, gold and property from former transport department constable Saurabh Sharma. Singh, who is in jail with Sharma and another accused in the case, in his bail application said he was married in 2012 and his wife was unable to bear a child because of medical problems. His wife was treated twice by IVF technique so that the couple is blessed with a baby. On June 14, his wife gave birth to a twin prematurely following surgery. The babies are in the NICU following birth. He is the only person to take care of the babies and his wife and his physical presence is required in the hospital. He also produced medical documents in support of his arguments. However, the counsel for the state government appearing in the case opposed the bail. The bench of justice Pramod Agarwal, while giving interim bail to Singh, said his wife and babies need his presence to take care of them, therefore he was granted an interim bail on humanitarian grounds till Aug 27. He will be required to surrender in Bhopal district court on Aug 28 and if he fails to do so, the court will be at liberty to order his arrest.
