Pamela Anderson's replacement on Home Improvement and what she looks like now

Daily Mail2 days ago
Debbe Dunning had some enormous shoes to fill when she stepped onto the set of Home Improvement in 1992.
Taking over the iconic role of Tool Time Girl after the departure of Pamela Anderson, Dunning faced a challenge few could envy: replacing a beloved TV bombshell.
Before landing the part, Dunning, now 59, had built a modest résumé with a string of bit parts on popular sitcoms.
But joining Home Improvement as Heidi marked a turning point in her career.
Anderson, who had played Lisa, the original assistant to Tim Allen 's Tim 'the Tool Man' Taylor, had become a rising star in her own right.
When Anderson left to take on the role of C.J. Parker on Baywatch—a part that would launch her into superstardom—Dunning was tapped to keep the Tool Time magic alive.
At first, Anderson tried to juggle both shows, but it soon became clear that filming schedules couldn't overlap, and she chose to focus on Baywatch.
On the show, Lisa's departure was explained by her decision to pursue a career as a paramedic, opening the door for Heidi, Dunning's character, to step in.
Anderson would later make a guest appearance during season six, revealing her character had completed medical training and now worked at Detroit Memorial Hospital.
Interestingly, the role of Lisa could have gone to someone else entirely.
Ashley Judd, who wowed producers during her audition, was in the running but ultimately opted to pursue a film career.
After Anderson signed on for Baywatch exclusively, the door swung wide open for Dunning, who remained Heidi for the entirety of Home Improvement, from 1992 through the series finale in 1999.
Over eight seasons, she became a household name and cemented her place in television history.
After the show wrapped, Dunning didn't disappear from the screen.

She built a steady career with numerous guest appearances, including a small role on Baywatch—the very show that had pulled Anderson away years before.
She also appeared on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, The Jamie Foxx Show, Boy Meets World, and various commercials, expanding her reach across television.
On the big screen, she starred in the 2000 thriller The Spiral Staircase as well as the comedy Now You Know, showcasing her versatility.
Off-screen, Dunning's personal life was just as full.
She married volleyball star Steve Timmons in 1997, and the pair welcomed three children over the years.
The couple eventually went their separate ways in 2018.
During the years she focused on raising her kids, Dunning stepped away from Hollywood and turned her attention to a career in sales and marketing for J R Lennen Construction Inc., according to her LinkedIn.
But Dunning would eventually return to the spotlight.
In 2017, she launched her own travel series on DirecTV's Cowboy Channel: Debbe Dunning's Dude Ranch Round-Up.
The series allowed her to exploredunique ranches across the country while sharing her infectious personality and hands-on approach.
These days, she promotes herself as a 'lifestyle influencer,' highlighting her skills as a DIY expert, accomplished golfer, and dedicated advocate for healthy living and motherhood, according to her website.
Fans can also connect with her through signed memorabilia, including calendars and posters featuring images from her early career, as well as personalized Cameo videos, which she offers for $125.
On social media, Dunning is active on Instagram, posting clips and photos of herself on the golf course, hanging out with her kids, and maintaining her impressive fitness routine.
More recently, she was spotted at Cedric The Entertainer's 12th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic VIP Pairings Party in August 2025, mingling with Hollywood's elite and reminding fans that she remains an enduring presence in the entertainment world.

Aubrey Plaza likens her grief to 'a giant ocean of awfulness' and details 'daily struggle' she suffers eight months after husband Jeff Baena's suicide

Aubrey Plaza has detailed her grief in her first interview since her husband Jeff Baena's tragic death earlier this year. The filmmaker, who Aubrey married in 2021, died by suicide aged 47 in January, afyer which it was revealed they had split four months before his death. Appearing on her friend Amy Poehler on her Good Hang podcast, Amy said: 'Just to get it out the way, people want to see you and want to see how you are, they love you. You've had this terrible, terrible, tragic year... 'You lost your husband, you've been dealing with that and you've been looking for all different ways in which to feel and find support.' When Amy asked how she was feeling, Aubrey stated: 'Right in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you. Overall, I'm here and I'm functioning. I feel really grateful to be moving through the world. I think I'm okay, but it's like a daily struggle'. She went on: 'This is a really dumb analogy and it was kind of a joke at a certain point, but I actually mean it. Did you see that movie The Gorge? It's like [an] alien movie or something with Miles Teller... 'In the movie, there's like a cliff on one side and there's a cliff on the other side, then there's gorge in between and it's filled with all these like monster people that are trying to get them. I swear when I watched it... 'I was like that feels like what my grief is like … or what grief could be like. At all times there's like a giant ocean of awfulness, that's like right there and I can see it... 'Sometimes I just want to dive into it, and just like be in it. Then sometimes I just look at it, and sometimes I try to get away from it. But, it's always there.' Her chat with Amy is her first discussion of her grief, having made a brief comment about his passing shortly after, saying through a reprentative: 'This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support... 'Please respect our privacy during this time." In March, it was revealed that Aubrey had secretly split from Jeff just four months before his shock suicide at 47. An LA County Medical Examiner's autopsy report obtained by revealed that the filmmaker and actress had separated back in September of last year, and she had been living in New York at the time his body was discovered on January 3. The report detailed how the Life After Beth director had been 'experiencing marital difficulties' in his final months and how he had been in therapy. An investigator noted in the documents that Aubrey, whose name was redacted in the final report, said she had spoken with Jeff the night before his death. The report also tragically revealed that Aubrey had been concerned for her estranged husband's wellbeing.

Earlier this year, Calvin returned with his first song since 2018 to feature only his own vocals, Smoke The Pain Away, and his first single since his 2024 collaboration with Ellie Goulding, Free. 'And now that's something that when I walk into a space, it's looked at as this sense of nostalgia or something that you have from your childhood, but I've now been as kind of integrated into everyone's life as the character itself. 'So that's exciting to get to celebrate that.' It comes after Calvin and his Radio 1 DJ wife Vick Hope, 34, celebrated the arrival of their first child together. British DJ Calvin announced the arrival of their son Micah on his Instagram page and praised his spouse as a 'superhero'. BBC Radio 1 host Vick had a home water birth at their property in Ibiza, where she flew after beginning her maternity leave. Calvin shared a candid photograph of his wife laying in the birthing pool and a tender shot of himself with Micah moments after the birth. Alongside the series of photos, Calvin announced the birth and wrote: '20th of July our boy arrived. Micah is here! My wife is a superhero and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom! Just so grateful. We love you so much Micah.'

Hollywood superstar wishes her lookalike mum a happy 77th birthday – but who's her A-list daughter?

A HOLLYWOOD superstar has wished her lookalike mum a happy 77th birthday. After posting a photo together, fans couldn't help but notice the star's striking similarities to her mom. The actress, who has starred in the likes of Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde penned: 'Happy birthday to my wonderful mother Betty, who always teaches me to appreciate homemade art, flowers in the garden, little babies, & all the dogs and horses in the world! 💐🌺🌷 'ps. She LOVES red lipstick so I bought her this one called PIP.' Fans flooded the comments with happy birthday messages, but also to point out how much they look alike. One person wrote: 'Beautiful resemblance between the two of you!' And a second added: 'Some extra loving genes.' A third person echoed: 'Oh my goodness, she is gorgeous! I see so much resemblance! Hope she had a blessed birthday.' It's none other than Reese Witherspoon, who wished her beautiful mum Betty a happy birthday. The mom and daughter duo posed next to each other for a lovely alfresco snap and Reese treated her mum to a plate loaded with cupcakes. And Reese herself has a famous daughter who has followed in her mum and dad's footsteps. Ava Phillippe is the daughter of Hollywood A-listers Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe. The actress shares an extremely striking resemblance to her famous mom, although she has dyed her hair brown for her role in Doctors Odyssey. Ava starred as Veronica in the show, one of three college vixens that were vying for Max's (Jackson's) attention. Ahead of her television acting debut, the official Doctor Odyssey TikTok account shared a clip that was taken on set to promote the show. Wearing a hot pink bikini, Ava easily could have been mistaken for Reese's character Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. With her hair pulled back into a loose ponytail and with a colourful sarong wrapped around her waist, Ava urged fans to watch. She said, "Hi y'all, it's Ava Phillippe, playing Veronica on the spring break episode of Doctor Odyssey. Tune in!" Commenting, one fan replied, "She really looks like her mom." Another added, "Isn't that Reese Witherspoon's daughter?!" And a third said, "The fact that she reminds me exactly of her mom and her dad at the same time is wild." Reese, 49, and her Cruel Intentions co-star Ryan, 50, welcomed Ava into the world in 1999, just three months after they had married. Four years later, they became parents again to son Deacon before splitting in 2006. 4 4
