THE heir to Porsche has announced plans to build a private tunnel and underground garage beneath his mansion.
Wolfgang Porsche's £8.5million project, reminiscent of a James Bond villain's lair, has sparked outrage in Salzburg.

The 81-year-old struck a deal with the Austrian city's former conservative mayor, Harald Preuner, in 2024.
It included plans to drill an underground private tunnel below his 17th-century villa on the Kapuzinerberg.
It would allow him to park up to a dozen of his cars underneath the Paschinger Schlössl.
Under the deal, the billionaire paid €40,000 to gain the rights to dig a tunnel on city-owned land.
A steep and narrow road that can turn icy when temperatures drop currently leads up to Porsche's mansion.
Some politicians have complained that the city council had not been briefed about the heir's plans.
Local Green leader Ingeborg Haller has led the protest criticising what she called a "back-door deal" that was handled in a "very intransparent" way.
"Salzburg is UNESCO-listed. We are also in a nature reserve here and this is simply a highly sensitive area," Haller said.
She said any kind of "special treatment for the super-rich" was unacceptable.
In response to criticism, a court-certified expert was appointed by the incumbent Social Democratic mayor, Bernhard Auinger.
Hollywood legend Steve McQueen's Porsche which starred in iconic film is going up for auction at an eye-watering price
According to the expert's report made public, the compensation paid by Porsche was deemed "appropriate".
Porsche bought the historic villa located near a Capuchin monastery on the forested hill in 2020.
The mansion, which is currently under renovation, once belonged to Austria's famed Jewish writer Stefan Zweig.
Zweig lived there for 15 years and penned several well-known works there before fleeing to Britain during the rise of Nazism.
The city council is expected to decide in mid-May whether or not to let the project go ahead as planned.
It would have to approve a zoning plan change for the garage.
Wolfgang is the grandson of Austrian-born Ferdinand Porsche, who founded the car company.
He acts as the chairman of Porsche's supervisory board.
A spokesman for Wolfgang Porsche declined to comment on what he called a "private matter" with no connection to the Porsche company, a subsidiary of the German car giant Volkswagen.

US pop star spotted in Celtic tracksuit top at glitzy red carpet ceremony as wild fans say ‘want my season ticket?'

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) FANS have been left shocked after seeing a huge US pop star turn up on the red carpet wearing a CELTIC tracksuit top. The Capital Summertime Ball, hosted by Capital FM, saw a number of high profile artists descend on Wembley Stadium in London last night including Mariah Carey, Will Smith, Myles Smith, Busted and McFly. Rapp has had a breakout 12 months as she branched into film, playing the part of Regina George in the 2024 musical adaption of Mean Girls. She played the same role on Broadway as a replacement for Taylor Louderman and won new fans with an appearance on Saturday Night Live. Rapp performed several of her favourite songs to the 80,000 strong audience at Wembley wearing a pair of black hot pants, a ripped white t-shirt and leather jacket, plus a pair of heeled boots. Before that outfit change however, she stunned fans by rocking up to the red carpet in CELTIC gear. Rapp sported a green zip-up jacket with a Celtic badge on the chest and the sleeve, with yellow and white lines on the sleeve and collar. The garment looks to be a retro piece from Celtic's days sponsored by Nike. Indeed, a version of the top is going on eBay for £62 at the moment - and it's perhaps no coincidence that it's sold out on second-hand retailer GPS Vintage. She paired the vintage jacket with a grey plaid midi skirt and black knee high boots, with a black handbag and sunglasses for good measure. As images dropped from the red carpet and clips began to circulate of Rapp taking part in interviews wearing the garment, fans rushed to share their excitement. The diggers move in as Celtic Park pitch is dug up One ecstatic fan wrote: "RENEE IN A CELTIC TOP MY NEW PERSONALITY." Another said: "Just saw Renee Rapp in a Celtic jacket, MON THE HOOPS, love her." "Renee Rapp wearing a Celtic jacket today oh she is so real for that," said another. While this fan said: "As if I couldn't be any more in love with her." One astounded Hoops supporter exclaimed: "This is literally life changing @reneerapp lmk if you want a loan of my season ticket." Before this fan commented: "Renee Rapp in a Celtic top is not what I expected to see today." Rapp herself gave a slight suggestion into why she was wearing the jacket - and whether she is a Celtic fan... (she has been spotted at Boston Celtics basketball games before). In an interview with ITN, she confessed to having no knowledge of what tartan is after being quizzed about her plaid skirt. After the reporter noticed the Celtic badge, they said Rapp looked "very Scottish" and could be considered "an honorary Scot". To which she replied: "Yeah, this is all my grandfather... he made this." 7 Rapp seemed unaware of the potential impact of her outfit Credit: ITN 7 She explained that her grandfather had something to do with it Credit: ITN 7 She showed off the badge to a stunned Scots reporter on the red carpet Credit: ITN Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

How to make your car's air conditioning blow COLDER this summer with affordable fix that takes just minutes

How to keep your car air conditioning running ice cold this summer ICE COOL How to make your car's air conditioning blow COLDER this summer with affordable fix that takes just minutes Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) WITH summer in full swing and heatwaves predicted, keeping cool is on everyone's mind. Thankfully, air conditioning in most modern cars offers a welcome escape from the heat. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 Stay cool this summer with a quick and affordable air con fix Credit: Getty 3 Your car's air conditioning might not be as cold as it should be - mechanics reveal the common cause Credit: Getty 3 Regassing your air con could be the key to ice-cold journeys Credit: Getty However, many of us will sometimes feel our AC could be working a little harder and blowing a little colder. And if you believe your car's cool air isn't as cold as it could be, a repair expert from FixMyCar might have the solution. Matt Wrankmore, Head of Garage Network at FixMyCar, has revealed that a quick, 45-minute garage visit can take your air conditioning from mild to ice-cold. He said: 'Many drivers expect their car's air conditioning to just work when they need it to. 'However, the air conditioning system uses refrigerant gas and a compressor to cool the air in the cabin. 'Few people realise that over 10% of refrigerant gas escapes naturally every year, which means the cooling system's power drops significantly over time. 'This is where the need for an air con regas comes in. 'Having the system 'regassed', essentially refilling the refrigerant gas, will have an instant effect on your car's air conditioning and will get you back to pleasantly cool journeys on our few scorching hot days this summer.' COOL OFF As anyone who's stepped into a sweltering car on a summer's day knows, car interiors trap and retain heat effectively, making them unbearable without a working cooling system. According to over 3,000 drivers polled by FixMyCar, 28% didn't know that the air conditioning system in their car needed to be regassed in order to stay cold. Inside Kia's refreshed Sportage including comfy cabin, punchy new looks and driving mode young families will love Further to that, one in 10 (9.7%) drivers assumed it would be done as part of a full service. However, many car services don't include an air con regas - meaning you'll need to book it separately. Data from FixMyCar shows that an air con regas costs £72.64 on average, with most manufacturers recommending drivers get their air conditioning system regassed every two years to ensure it's always at an optimal cold temperature. The poll also found that almost a third (32%) of drivers are unsure when they last had an AC regas. This has been confirmed by nearly 200 mechanics on the FixMyCar network, with the majority claiming the most common cause behind car air conditioning no longer feeling cold is that the car 'needs an air con regas'. 20% said that a 'refrigerant leak' is another common cause of poor cooling, while 14% flagged that a 'lack of air con use and poor maintenance' are to blame. Wrankmore added: 'Another little-known fact is that a lack of use of your air conditioning could also exacerbate the problem. 'A car's air conditioning system has an oil in it that lubricates the seals and compressor to keep it functioning smoothly when in use. 'However, not using the air conditioning frequently can cause the seals and compressor to harden or shrink, which can then cause damage that results in larger refrigerant leaks down the line. 'This is a particular problem for Brits. As we only get a few really hot days a year, many of us don't use our air conditioning as often as we should. 'So, my best advice to drivers who want to maintain their cooling system better is to turn on your air conditioning regularly, even in winter - as crazy as that sounds.' What happened on the Carnival Triumph ‘poop cruise'? Netflix Trainwreck documentary explained?

NEW Netflix documentary series Trainwreck explores some of the world's weirdest and most wonderful events, as well as its most disgusting. Here we look at an episode of the show dedicated to an extreme example of the latter that took place on the Carnival Triumph — aptly titled Poop Cruise. 4 The Carnival Triumph ran into trouble in the Gulf of Mexico in February 2013, causing the sewage system to fail Credit: Getty 4 Things got so bad passengers slept on the the deck Credit: AP:Associated Press 4 A passenger kissing the ground after stepping off the Carnival Triumph in Alabama Credit: AFP What happened on the Carnival Triumph? In February 2013, the Carnival Triumph cruise ship became the center of an international media storm after a disastrous voyage that would later be dubbed the 'poop cruise'. The ship, carrying more than 4,000 passengers and crew, set sail from Galveston, Texas, for what was supposed to be a relaxing four-day trip to the Caribbean. But the journey took a dramatic turn for the worse on day three when a fire broke out in the aft engine room. Although the crew quickly extinguished the blaze and no one was hurt, the fire knocked out the ship's main power supply. This left it adrift in the Gulf of Mexico without propulsion and most of its essential systems. With the loss of power, the Triumph's air conditioning, refrigeration and, most critically, its sewage and sanitation systems failed. This unsurprisingly created nightmarish conditions for everyone on board the stricken luxury liner. Toilets stopped working and raw sewage began seeping into hallways and cabins, producing an overwhelmingly unpleasant stench, as well as an unsafe and unsanitary environment. Many passengers reported that they had to use plastic bags and red biohazard bags for waste — the restrooms were totally unusable. The lack of air conditioning made the interior of the ship unbearably hot and humid, prompting many to sleep on open decks in an effort to escape the oppressive heat and foul smell. Crippled cruise ships docks in Alabama Food supplies quickly dwindled as refrigeration units failed. While the crew did everything within their power to provide meals with what little they had, passengers were soon eating cold sandwiches and makeshift meals, often consisting of little more than bread and vegetables. Water was rationed, with the overall atmosphere on the ship growing tense as the days dragged on. Communication with the outside world was limited, but news of the dire conditions spread quickly, with images of the ship and its suffering passengers quickly spreading around the world. After five days stranded at sea, the Carnival Triumph was finally towed to port in Mobile, Alabama, ending the horrific ordeal. The situation on board was difficult and we are very sorry for what has happened. We pride ourselves on providing our guests with a great vacation experience and clearly we failed in this case Former Carnival President and CEO Gerry Cahill But the fallout was just beginning, with investigations revealing that Carnival had been aware of certain maintenance issues and fire risks on the ship prior to the voyage. This raised serious questions about the company's safety protocols and preparedness. CNN obtained documents showing only four of the six generators working, and the company knew about the fire hazard posed by the generators when they set sail. These documents revealed that the company was also aware of the fuel line leaks that contributed to the fire, CNN reported. The documents also showed that there had been nine incidents with fuel lines in just two years. 4 Netflix's poster for Trainwreck: Poop Cruise Credit: Netflix Lawsuits followed and the cruise industry as a whole faced renewed scrutiny over its emergency procedures and passenger safety standards. Former Carnival President and CEO Gerry Cahill said: "I want to again apologize to our guests and their friends and families. 'The situation on board was difficult and we are very sorry for what has happened. "We pride ourselves on providing our guests with a great vacation experience and clearly we failed in this case." Poop Cruise Netflix's documentary series Trainwreck revisits this infamous event in an episode titled Poop Cruise Offering first-hand accounts from passengers and crew who endured the ordeal, the doc recounts how the technical failures occurred and squalid conditions this created. Exploring how quickly a dream vacation can transform into hell on earth, Poop Cruise also looks into the psychological impact of the experience on the people involved. Episodes of Trainwreck started dropping on Netflix on June 10, 2025, with Poop Cruise available for streaming from June 24.
