Nicolas Jackson gets two-match ban for red card at Club World Cup
The 24-year-old received an automatic one-match suspension, ruling him out of Tuesday's final group-stage clash against Esperance Sportive de Tunis.
However, FIFA's disciplinary committee reviewed the incident and deemed it serious foul play and extended the ban.
'The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has imposed the following sanction on Chelsea's player Nicolas Jackson who was sent off as a result of a direct red card during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 match between his team and CR Flamengo...' FIFA said in a statement as quoted by ESPN on Tuesday.
'(A) 2-match suspension for breach under article 14 paragraph 1 e) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. This decision is final and binding and cannot be appealed.'
Jackson apologised for his actions on social media after the match. He will miss Chelsea's potential last-16 tie if they advance.

Tony Cascarino has recalled how a group of Republic of Ireland legends once ventured into horse racing ownership - but things didn't go to plan. Shortly after Italia 90, the former Chelsea and Aston Villa striker along with his Ireland teammates Andy Townsend, Niall Quinn and John Aldridge decided to buy a horse. They had dreams of Fireball burning it up on the track, but she was forced into retirement winless after just six races. "Shortly After Italia 90, myself, Andy Townsend, Niall Quinn and John Aldridge bought a horse called Fireball that was being trained by Jim Bolger. Quinn was the ringleader and we had convinced ourselves that we had just got ourselves a Cheltenham winner," Cascarino explained. "She went off as a 20/1 shot for her first race and was beaten by a 4/5 favourite, with a stablemate also finishing ahead of her. Unfortunately she had to retire after half a dozen races.
