Port of NEOM receives fully automated cranes; work on track
Port of NEOM, set to become an advanced and sustainable port, has marked a major milestone with the arrival of the first fully automated, remote-controlled ship-to-shore (STS) and electric rubber-tyred gantry (eRTG) cranes in KSA — advancing its goal to become a global hub for smart, sustainable trade. Strategically located on the Red Sea, one of the world's busiest maritime corridors, Port of NEOM is already serving as a critical gateway on the East–West trade route. The newly arrived state-of-the-art cranes will play a critical role in the port's automation strategy, unlocking the potential for high-volume, high-efficiency operations. Importantly, their remote-control capability allows for a future-ready workforce model, where operators can manage equipment from secure, ergonomic environments. Development of Port of NEOM continues at pace ahead of the 2026 opening of Terminal 1, a next-generation container terminal, with recent infrastructure milestones including the completion of a 900-m quay wall and the deepening of the port channel to 18.5 m — enabling the world's largest vessels transiting the Suez Canal to call at Port of NEOM. Terminal 1 will also feature horizontal transport automation as part of the broader goal to achieve full automation. Once operational, these technologies will significantly expand the port's logistics capacity, driving regional industrial growth, opening access to global markets, enhancing supply chain resilience and unlocking business opportunities. Sean Kelly, Managing Director of Port of NEOM, said: 'The arrival of our first automated cranes marks a tangible milestone as we lay the foundations for an advanced, future-ready port. We're not only accelerating industrial growth in northwest Saudi Arabia, but we're also setting a new benchmark for performance, efficiency, innovation and establishing a vital trade gateway for the Kingdom and the region beyond.' In parallel with its investments in infrastructure and automation, Port of NEOM is also committed to developing local talent, including training Saudi women to take on high-tech roles. Central to this effort is a pioneering initiative to train the next generation of Production Specialists to gain the skills to become remote crane operators, thereby helping shape a more inclusive future for the logistics and industrial sectors.

Nofa Riyadh, a Radisson Collection Resort makes two key appointments
Radisson Hotel Group has appointed Daaliah Meyer as the Cluster Director of Marketing & Communications for Nofa Riyadh, A Radisson Collection Resort, and Radisson Blu Hotel & Residence, Riyadh Diplomatic Quarter. It has also welcomed Ibrahim Tabet as the new Executive Chef of Nofa Riyadh, a Radisson Collection Resort. Meyer began her career in Cape Town, launching her own marketing agency that handled everything from photoshoot styling to full-scale digital campaigns for local fashion and food brands. Her entrepreneurial grit and ability to scale creative solutions quickly led her into the corporate space — joining regional tech brand The Entertainer, where she rose through the ranks from Social Media Manager to KSA Market Lead in under two years. There, she led market expansions, launched high-performing campaigns, and built the company's first fully Saudi creative team. Now at the Radisson Hotel Group, Meyer is driven by a desire to blend global standards with authentic local storytelling. Her vision for Nofa Riyadh is to position it as Saudi Arabia's most iconic luxury resort — where safari adventures meet five-star sophistication. Simultaneously, she aims to solidify Radisson Blu Diplomatic Quarter as the premier address for business travel in Riyadh. 'I'm driven by the challenge of turning underutilised potential into iconic destinations,' says Meyer. 'Marketing is more than campaigns—it's about capturing hearts, empowering teams, and creating brands people feel. I'm all in.' Anna-Marie Dowling, General Manager of Nofa Riyadh, a Radisson Collection Resort, added: 'Daaliah brings a rare mix of entrepreneurial edge and strategic vision. As two female leaders working to shape the future of Saudi hospitality, I'm incredibly excited about the impact we'll create together.' Her appointment marks another step forward in Radisson Hotel Group's commitment to empowering women in leadership and fostering innovative, guest-centric hospitality across the region. New Executive Chef With over 18 years of experience in some of the region's most prestigious kitchens, Tabet's culinary journey has spanned Four Seasons Damascus, The Ritz-Carlton KSA, Art Rotana Bahrain, and JW Marriott Riyadh. His reputation was solidified at The Ritz-Carlton, where he launched the first Saudi Heritage Dessert Tasting Menu, an initiative that not only celebrated local ingredients but also significantly boosted dessert sales. His most recent leadership role with FAS Hospitality marked his evolution into a strategic culinary leader, spearheading the transformation of underperforming outlets, negotiating farm-direct supply chains, and introducing sustainable innovations like zero-waste iftars. Now at the helm of Nofa Riyadh's culinary operations, Chef Tabet oversees all dining experiences across the resort, from destination restaurants and banqueting to in-villa dining and the resort's homegrown farm. More than just an operational lead, he sees his role as a curator of stories, each dish a narrative shaped by local soil, seasonal rhythms, and global inspiration. 'I chose to lead Nofa's kitchens because this is a place where the land tells a story, and I want every dish we serve to honour that. Real luxury doesn't arrive by truck; it's grown here, raised here, and brought to life on the plate,' he says.
