Bill Murray shares memory of ‘good friend' Bruce Willis' 'insane' task at 'SNL' as an NBC page
It sounds like Bruce Willis had to try hard to get to 'Die Hard.'
Bill Murray says the action star once had a surprising job to do when he worked on 'Saturday Night Live' before he hit it big in Hollywood.
While a guest on 'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen' on March 31, Murray was talking about Wes Anderson movies when he brought up 'Moonrise Kingdom,' which featured him and Willis.
'I got to work with, and have a wonderful time with, Bruce Willis. We should remember today. He just had a birthday. Bruce Willis is a good guy, a good f------ guy,' Murray said.
Murray then spilled the beans about one of Willis' early gigs.
'He was a good friend and really always understood — Bruce Willis was a page at NBC when I was on 'Saturday Night Live.' He was a page. And his job was to come and to refill — this sounds like insane s---, but his job was to come and go to the dressing rooms and refill the M&M's and pretzels kind of thing in the actors' rooms,' he said.
'And I remember when I met him after he was already a successful guy, he said, 'You and (late former 'SNL' star) Gilda (Radner) were nice to me.' And I thought, 'OK.' I always thought, 'OK, I'm good with this guy.' He was a good guy.'
Murray and Willis would cross paths again long after Willis' days of feeding actors on 'SNL' ended. In addition to 'Moonrise Kingdom,' the pair also starred in 'Rock the Casbah.'
Willis, who turned 70 last month, would also return to 'SNL' in a much different capacity after his career took off, hosting the show in 1989 and 2013.
He has kept a lower profile in recent years after his health took center stage. His family announced in 2022 he had been diagnosed with aphasia, and in 2023, they shared his condition progressed to frontotemporal dementia. The neurodegenerative disease, also known as FTD, usually initially affects communication and behavior, instead of memory, which can be impacted later on, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
In December, Willis' wife, Emma Heming Willis, paid tribute to him on their anniversary, while acknowledging the hardships they face.
'17 years of us ❤️,' she wrote on Instagram.
'Anniversaries used to bring excitement — now, if I'm honest, they stir up all the feelings, leaving a heaviness in my heart and a pit in my stomach. I give myself 30 minutes to sit in the 'why him, why us,' to feel the anger and grief. Then I shake it off and return to what is. And what is… is unconditional love. Real Housewives Of Atlanta castmember Brit Eady has filed a lawsuit against Bravo, NBC, and production companies for the reality show after last year's 'revenge porn' incident has sent the season 16 reunion into chaos. According to court documents obtained by on Friday, Eady filed a $20million lawsuit over her portrayal on the show Thursday as she alleges defamation, emotional distress, sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. The suit is centered around a moment which aired in April on episode five of the current season 16 as it featured the moment when Kenya Moore reportedly showed explicit posters of castmate Brit Eady allegedly performing oral sex amidst filming in June 2024 as she has since claimed that it wasn't her in the images. Moore was then suspended 'indefinitely' from the series. However, she had stated that she was 'not going anywhere' and also called out the network for being a 'toxic environment.' In addition to Bravo and NBC production companies for RHOA, Truly Original and Endemol Shine North America, are named in the lawsuit as the castmember alleges defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, false light and sexual harassment and hostile work environment. has reached out to representatives for Bravo, Eady, Moore, Endemol Shine North America and Truly Original for comment and have yet to hear back. In the legal notice, Eady calls Moore's statements about her 'false, defamatory, harassing and damaging.' Eady also claims that the explicit images are not of herself and that she 'did not see the explicit photograph until after certain of these events were aired on Bravo nearly a year late.' The filing reads: 'Defendants willfully, intentionally, recklessly, and/or with gross negligence produced, edited, and aired an episode of RHOA on April 6, 2025 that included footage of certain of the cast member's statements at issue as well as commentary from other cast members that described the photographs displayed. 'Further, the manner in which the episode was aired falsely yet unmistakably implied that the graphic sexual photograph presented by the cast member depicted [Eady]. 'On information and belief, Defendants knew that the photograph did not depict [Eady], or, at the least, were reckless or grossly negligent in failing to learn that the photograph did not depict [Eady].' Eady also went on to allege that she had attempted to see the photo before the episode had aired but Bravo had 'refused' to show it to her. According to the filing: 'By the way of foregoing, Defendants contributed to the hostile work environment for [Eady] and sexually harassed Plaintiff by subjecting [Eady] to unwelcome, offensive, and sexualized behavior and comments based on her gender by requiring her to continue working in an environment in which she had been subject to a gendered attack, creating an inferior condition or privilege of employment because of her gender.' It also reads that if the defendants 'fail to appear,' Eady asked that a judgement be issued for 'the sum of not less than $20 million, with interest, and the costs and fees of this action.' The lawsuit was filed on the same day that the season 16 reunion was filmed which was thrown into chaos as Eady and Moore were not on set. Moore jumped to X to issue a statement to her followers and expressed she was 'disappointed' to not take part in the reunion while also issuing an apology. 'I'm disappointed to not be a part of the #RHOA 16 reunion taping today,' the TV personality began. 'Please know I take full accountability for my actions and deeply apologize to all those affected including Brittney, the cast, crew, guests and viewers.' The reality star then seemingly teased a possible return to the show by adding, 'I look forward to seeing you all back on Bravo soon.' Eady - who was also absent from the reunion taping - issued a statement of her own on her Instagram stories on Thursday. Brit confirmed that she was not making an appearance in the reunion - but also claimed that she was actually not in the explicit posters that Moore had shown. 'As everyone is now aware, I'm not attending the Reunion. This was my decision. The events of this season have devastated me.' The RHOA fan account @atlanta_housewives posted the message to Instagram and fans rallied behind Moore, with some calling her exit from the season 'unfair' In response while leaving the dinner, Kenya expressed: 'She talking about guns, she was talking about, "I still got my pistol on me." And during the specific episode of the incident, Moore celebrated the grand opening of her hair spa and some other cast members stopped by to help celebrate the big milestone. Eady also showed up with flowers as an apology for starting up a feud earlier in the season. However, Kenya notably did not accept the peace offering and said that Brittany was only using the situation for a 'moment' and insinuated the apology was not genuine. Moore then showed an explicit poster board at the event that allegedly showed Eady performing oral sex. The cast was left shocked over the move and Porsha Williams stepped out of the shop and stated, 'I want to just take my mic off. You can just act like I was never at this event.' The episode officially concluded with the message from the production that a decision had been that Moore would not film the rest of the season. The incident was first revealed last year in June when Kenya was suspended 'indefinitely' from RHOA following claims that she shared adult images of Eady - which she denied doing at the time. But when one contained an inquiry about her appearance, things turned awkward, eventually leading to Guthrie walking away abruptly. A video of the tense moment has since gone viral on TikTok, dividing the internet. In the clip, Guthrie read the question aloud, which said: 'Do you have veneers?' 'What is that, like braces?' Guthrie responded, appearing dumbfounded. 'The teeth,' the reporter helped. 'Well, I did Invisalign,' Guthrie replied. 'Is that what that means? What are veneers?' 'And I'm seeing well, and I just actually got a prescription for eyeglasses, which I haven't been able to wear [yet]. So, I'm super excited to wear glasses. 'And I kind of can't believe that this all took so long, but honestly since the surgery I had last summer after the pandemic, my eyesight's been dramatically better.' She previously underwent surgery to re-attach the retina in her eye in November 2019, shortly after the accident left her with blurry vision. Bruce Willis' family have rallied around him since the Die Hard actor was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in February 2023, and his wife has now opened up about his work Bruce Willis' wife, Emma Heming Willis, is shedding light on how the Hollywood icon managed to continue working on set even after his health started deteriorating because of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). In her upcoming book The Unexpected Journey, which is set to be released on September 9, 2025, Emma shares intimate details about the measures that were taken to keep Bruce in front of the camera while his cognitive abilities declined. According to reports, some of the tactics directors used included shortening his dialogue and feeding him lines via an earpiece, which was discreetly operated by a close friend on set. These behind-the-scenes accommodations allowed the Die Hard legend to complete roles in films like Assassin (2023) and the Detective Knight trilogy (2022–2023), even though he was being increasingly impacted by FTD, which is a degenerative disease that affects cognition and speech Willis's diagnosis was first made public in 2022 when his family announced he was suffering from a language disorder called aphasia. In February 2023, they confirmed the condition had progressed into FTD. Since then, Bruce has stepped away from acting. Emma told fans on Instagram that she wrote her book to help other families facing similar situations. She shared: "I really wrote the book that I wish someone had handed me the day we got our diagnosis with no hope, no direction … not much. Today life looks different for me and our family because I was able to put support into place. "This isn't a memoir, it's a self-help guide for caregivers, written to hold space for our heartbreak and our healing." During Bruce's final years of working, directors began to alter his roles so that he would be able to make it through shooting. In a 2020 email, Out of Death director Mike Burns asked writers to "abbreviate his [Willis'] dialogue so that there are no monologues". The actor's shooting schedules were also adjusted so that his workdays were limited to four hours when possible, and he did not film for more than two consecutive days. On set, crew members noticed that Bruce seemed confused and often struggled to remember lines or his purpose in a scene. They were particularly troubled by one moment during White Elephant, when he reportedly asked, "I know why you're here, and I know why you're here, but why am I here?" Despite the challenges, some collaborators still held high opinions of his work. Paradise City director Chuck Russell praised Bruce's efforts, saying he "brought his A-game". But others, like White Elephant production supervisor Terri Martin, said, "He just looked so lost… He always tried his best."
