Top 25 Kentucky football players this century: Number 16

The countdown of the top 25 Kentucky football players of this century continues on. Number 17 was former Wildcats safety Mike Edwards, who went on to become a Super Bowl champion. Up next, at number 16 is former Kentucky linebacker Micah Johnson. Johnson was one of the nation's top linebacker recruits out of high school, and chose the Wildcats over some major programs. He broke into the rotation immediately, playing in all 13 games as a Freshman, gaining All-Freshman honors, then seeing an increase in playing time as a Sophomore, showing just what he could do. In his third season in Lexington, he broke out in a big way. He totaled 93 tackles, including 13 for a loss. He also had 2.5 sacks and forced a fumble earning a first-team All-SEC nod. As a Senior, Johnson was terrific once again, and was a second-team All-SEC player. He recorded 105 tackles with one sack and seven tackles for a loss. Johnson was an integral piece to Kentucky's defense during his time there. He was a two-time All-SEC performer who, though he didn't find NFL success, was one of the great Wildcats linebackers.

Yankees Next Deal? Trade Rumors Swirling After Ryan McMahon Addition

The New York Yankees were closely linked to slugger Eugenio Suárez on the trade block, but the Bronx Bombers landed a deal for Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon instead. Now that the Yankees have filled their hole at third base, they can turn their attention toward adding a pitcher or two to the starting rotation. Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer recently suggested the Yankees could land a trade for Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zac Gallen in the coming days. PHOENIX, ARIZONA - JULY 21: Zac Gallen #23 of the Arizona Diamondbacks delivers a first inning pitch against the Houston Astros at Chase Field on July 21, 2025 in Phoenix, Arizona. PHOENIX, ARIZONA - JULY 21: Zac Gallen #23 of the Arizona Diamondbacks delivers a first inning pitch against the Houston Astros at Chase Field on July 21, 2025 in Phoenix, Arizona."Gallen was an All-Star and Cy Young Award contender as recently as 2023, but he just wasn't quite that guy in 2024 and has fallen off the table in 2025," Rymer wrote. "His 5.58 ERA ranks ahead of only Alcantara among qualified pitchers. He also leads the National League with 23 home runs allowed, so this isn't a case of a talented pitcher getting BABIP'd into oblivion." "The Yankees have been looking to add a starter ever since Clarke Schmidt went under the knife to have Tommy John surgery. Whether Gallen is the best they can do is debatable, but what really brings the circle together is how well they line up with the D-backs as trading partners." Gallen is the perfect buy-low option for the Yankees. New York doesn't have a loaded farm system, so pitchers like Mitch Keller, Edward Cabrera and Sandy Alcántara might be out of its price range. Adding Gallen, who sits on an expiring contract, is exactly what the Yankees need. He wouldn't cost them a king's ransom to acquire, but he has the potential to return to his ace-level self. This year, Gallen holds a 5.58 ERA and has surrendered 12 earned runs over his last 11 innings pitched. He might need a change of scenery, which could come with the Yankees. MLB Insider Links Astros To Trade For $8 Million Slugger At Deadline

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Houston Astros have quietly placed themselves at the top of the league after losing Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman in the offseason. The team has also been missing Yordan Alvarez for a good chunk of the year. It doesn't seem like Houston's success is sustainable with its current roster. The front office is going to need to make a big trade or two in the coming days in order to secure the division down the stretch. FanSided's MLB insider Robert Murray recently suggested the Astros would look to add offense at the trade deadline and linked them to a trade for Baltimore Orioles slugger Ryan O'Hearn. CLEVELAND, OHIO - JULY 23: Ryan O'Hearn #32 of the Baltimore Orioles hits an RBI sacrifice fly ball during the fourth inning against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field on July 23, 2025 in Cleveland,... CLEVELAND, OHIO - JULY 23: Ryan O'Hearn #32 of the Baltimore Orioles hits an RBI sacrifice fly ball during the fourth inning against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field on July 23, 2025 in Cleveland, Ohio. More"The Houston Astros are prioritizing offense at the trade deadline, and one fit is Baltimore Orioles All-Star slugger Ryan O'Hearn," Murray wrote. "O'Hearn, 31, is having the best season of his career ahead of free agency, hitting .281/.375/.452 with 12 home runs and 37 RBI. After (Josh) Naylor was traded to the Mariners, O'Hearn is the best remaining first baseman on the market. He also has the ability to play the outfield, appearing in 16 games in right field this season for Baltimore." O'Hearn would be the perfect addition for the Astros. He can slot in at first base alongside Christian Walker in order to give the veteran some time off the field. O'Hearn can also play the outfield when Alvarez returns, but for the time being, he would be the perfect designated hitter in Houston. Adding him shouldn't cost the Astros an arm and a leg either. They should be able to part ways with a mid-level prospect or two in order to acquire him, though there's bound to be some competition to add the slugger. Either way, Houston is the dream landing spot for O'Hearn this year. More MLB: Mets Reunion? Why Latest Trade Rumors Make Perfect Sense For New York
