I don't judge a film by its budget: Madhur Bhandarkar
Madhur Bhandarkar
who is known for his real-world narratives like Page 3, Fashion, Chandni Bar, in a conversation with Mumbai Mirror, talks about the changing face of the
film industry
. 'I look for real stories, that's what draws me in.
Not all OTT releases are good, just like not all films are good,' he says.
The filmmaker said that he likes to watch documentaries and real-life stories. 'I also like going back to older classics by Shyam Benegal, Govind Nihalani, Manmohan Desai, and Satyajit Ray. I watch different genres. For me, a film's budget or scale doesn't matter. What matters is how it's made. That's how I judge a film and that is what attracts me to watch it,' he shares.
The filmmaker has strong views on how music in films has changed over time. 'I always gave a lot of importance to music in my films, because I'm a music lover'. Criticising the current practice of roping in multiple composers for one movie, he says, 'Too many music directors in one album isn't good. I feel it just clutters the project with tracks that fail to build a strong emotional connection with the audience. Also, today the audience's attention span has dropped to 30 seconds — like a reel.
Back then, music gave you nostalgia, and emotion. Today, it's just another element in the mix. That's why I ensure my films always have music that people can remember.'

During the divorce proceedings, Sunjay alleged that Karisma married him as "rebound" after her break-up with Abhishek Bachchan. What's Happening Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor's engagement was announced at the 60th birthday party of Amitabh Bachchan. The engagement, which was later called off, was aimed to be another stepping stone to strengthen the Kapoor-Bachchan bond after Shweta Bachchan married Raj Kapoor's grandson Nikhil Nanda. He had filed a petition that labelled Karisma as the reason behind their breakup. He also cited that the actress was "cruel" and would not let their children, Samaira and Kiaan, meet up with him and his family. At the time, the actress's lawyer had shared a statement against all the allegations that had been made by Sunjay. They had stated that "We will tell the court that he is causing great harm to the children's welfare by spreading false stories. We don't want a trial by media." During the divorce proceedings, the courts gave custody of the children to Karisma and granted visitation rights to Sunjay. After divorce from Karisma Kapoor, Sunjay married Priya Sachdev in 2017. Priya already had a daughter from her previous marriage. The couple later had a kid themselves, a boy named Azarius. In A Nutshell Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur's divorce gained much public attention as the late businessman accused Karisma of marrying him for "money, fame" and, moreover as a rebound option after the Bachchan break-up.

Manasi Parekh: After the National Award, people have suddenly started taking me seriously
Manasi Parekh Manasi Parekh has always chosen the road less travelled. While many in her place might have waited for mainstream validation, she focused on carving her own path, particularly within the Gujarati industry. After producing and starring in Kutch Express, directed by Viral Shah, which earned her the Best Actress National Award last year, things began to shift for her professionally. She will soon be seen in Maharani, backed by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak, marking her second collaboration with Viral. The film explores the dynamic between a house help and her employer. Manasi with Shraddha Dangar in a still from Maharani Reflecting on her journey, in a chat with Mumbai Mirror, she shares, 'After Uri , I honestly didn't get as many interesting roles in Hindi as I had hoped. But I'm very enterprising, so instead of complaining, I decided to create opportunities for myself. When you're following your inner voice and not walking a path already taken, people tend to misjudge you. Bahot logon ko lagta hai, Gujarati mein kya kar legi?' That realisation prompted her to return to her roots. She says, 'I'm Gujarati, and I love my language. I thought, why not start something here? I began taking small steps. Kutch Express was our second production, and it went on to win three National Awards. That's when people started taking me seriously. They realised I wasn't just talking; I was letting my work speak.' The recognition, she says, has brought both respect and renewed faith in her artistic choices. She says, 'I worked hard for this. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your New Zealand escape starts with Singapore Airlines Fly with Singapore Airlines Book Now Undo I made sure to back scripts that gave women a voice. As a producer, I was clear about that. And as an actor, I've always tried to create space for myself without imitating anyone else. That's what led to the National Award. Post that, there's a greater sense of respect and trust in my work. People have begun to see that I'm here for the long haul. ' Now that expectations have grown, does it feel like an added responsibility? She replies, 'Absolutely, but it's not a burden. I don't let it become this image I have to maintain. I don't suddenly start taking myself too seriously just because I've won a National Award. That mindset can be a trap. I've seen so many people get caught up in the image game, thinking this is my brand, this is how I should project myself. But that's not sustainable. Aaj hai, kal nahi hoga. Over my 20-year journey, I've seen people come and go. Some achieve great things and then disappear. So, the only thing you can do is stay humble, work hard, show up on time, and be professional. If you stick to these fundamental values, everything else will follow.'

When Randhir Kapoor Accused Sunjay Kapur Of Living With Another Woman Before Divorcing Karisma Kapoor: "He Was Giving Bulls**t To Her"
Karisma Kapoor's ex-husband and businessman Sunjay Kapur died on June 12. What's Happening Sunjay and Karisma's separation made headlines, especially due to the legal and personal battles that followed. Their divorce proceedings became contentious, with both parties making strong allegations against each other. Karisma's father, actor Randhir Kapoor, also expressed disapproval of the marriage. Karisma and Sunjay got married in 2003 in a lavish ceremony. The wedding took place at the actress's ancestral home, Krishna Raj bungalow, in Mumbai. While the marriage initially appeared to be a happy one, the couple filed for divorce by mutual consent in 2014. The divorce proceedings took a turn when Karisma accused Sunjay of domestic violence. In response, Sunjay alleged that the actress had married him for financial gain. As reported by Mumbai Mirror, he claimed that Karisma married him in a "calculated and clinical" manner. The situation escalated into a public exchange of accusations. Reacting to the claims made by Sunjay, Karisma's father, Randhir Kapoor, said, "Everyone knows our credentials. We are Kapoors. We don't need to run after anyone's money. We have been blessed with not only money, but our talent can support us for the rest of our lives. Sunjay is a third-class man. I never wanted Karisma to marry him. He has debauchery in his system and never cared for his wife. He has been giving bull*** to her, and living with another woman without divorce. The entire Delhi knows how he is. I would not like to say anything more than this." Eventually, both parties reached a settlement, and the divorce was finalised in 2016. As per Mid-Day, Karisma received a substantial alimony settlement. The report stated, "Karisma will get Sunjay's father's house (in Khar) transferred in her name. Sunjay has to purchase bonds worth Rs. 14 crore for the children, which will attract a monthly interest of around Rs. 10 lakh." Background Initial reports cited a cardiac arrest as the cause of Sunjay Kapur's death. However, new reports suggest that the 53-year-old may have died due to complications caused by a bee sting incident. According to reports, Sunjay was playing a game of polo when he collapsed. It has now emerged that during the game, he may have swallowed a bee, which stung him and triggered a severe allergic reaction. This reaction is believed to have caused the cardiac arrest. Sunjay Kapur's personal life had often made headlines. His first marriage was to fashion designer Nandita Mahtani, which ended in divorce. He later married actress Karisma Kapoor. The couple had two children, Samaira and Kiaan, before getting divorced in 2016. He later married former model and actress Priya Sachdev and welcomed a son, Azarius, in 2018.
