Panchkula: The body of a retired principal,
Amarjeet Singh
, who went missing from Mohali four days back, was discovered in the forests of Morni on Monday. The body, which was in a state of decay, was found following the interrogation of two suspects arrested in connection with the case.
According to information, upon receiving the information, the Mohali police, along with Panchkula authorities, arrived at the scene and retrieved the body. The police have already begun investigating the circumstances surrounding Amarjeet's death, which is suspected to be a case of kidnapping and murder.
According to reports, Amarjeet Singh, 63, went missing on July 3. His son, Rahul Singh, lodged a complaint with the police, expressing concerns that his father was kidnapped.
Rahul reported that his father was last seen leaving their home in Mohali with an unknown individual, after parking his car outside their residence on the morning of July 3. After that, Singh failed to return home.
A crucial lead in the case came when Amarjeet's domestic help, Duni Ram, received a call from his employer. The caller demanded that Duni arrange a sum of Rs 35-40 lakh and bring the money to Sector 88, Mohali, as it was allegedly required for some "transaction."

Duni informed Amarjeet's wife, who initially panicked but later managed to contact her husband. Singh, in turn, reiterated the demand for the money, asking Duni to act quickly.
Authorities are now investigating the potential financial motive behind the crime. The police are exploring whether the kidnapping was carried out to extort a large sum of money and whether Singh's murder was a result of a failed ransom. His son told police that his father never previously discussed any financial dealings with the family. His son suspects that the kidnappers may have intended to use the ransom money as leverage for his father's release.
Following the initial complaint, the IT City police station in Mohali filed a case under Section 127(6) of the BNS Act against three unidentified individuals.
