Child struck and killed in collision involving vehicle in St. Catharines parking lot: police
A child was struck by a vehicle and killed in the parking lot of an aquatic centre in St. Catharines on Thursday, police say.
On social media, Niagara police reported a serious collision at around 12:30 p.m. in the area of Carlton and Niagara streets.
They say the driver of the vehicle that struck the child remained on scene.
The child's next of kin have been notified, say investigators.
Niagara Regional Police Service say several officers are still on the scene and anyone needing to pick somebody up from the aquatic centre must use the far east end of the parking lot.
There is no information on the cause of the collision at this time, police said.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating.

Man arrested after crashing vehicle into RCMP Quebec headquarters
Montreal police are investigating after they say a man deliberately crashed his vehicle into the the Royal Canadian Mounted Police divisional headquarters on Dorchester Boulevard, in Westmount, west of downtown. Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant said a 911 call was made reporting a crash at the main entrance of the building around 9:25 a.m. The driver of the vehicle, a 44-year-old man, was arrested but taken to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries suffered in the crash. Brabant said the driver was first seen approaching the building on foot, but eventually got into his vehicle and drove "slowly" but at a constant speed, into the entrance. Police believe the driver may have been suffering from mental health issues and said he was possibly in a state of crisis. While damage to the building was considerable with glass being shattered at the entrance, Brabant said that two RCMP officers who were inside at the time were not injured.

Highway 69 reopens after crash

Authorities announced the closure on social media shortly after 10:15 p.m. on Aug. 1 and advised emergency crews were on scene. Ontario 511's Traveller Information Service also noted the closure shortly after 10 p.m. The roadway reopened shortly before 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Police advised motorists that a detour was available via Highway 529 during the closure. 'Serious injuries' reported In its update early Saturday, OPP reported the collision resulted in 'serious but non-life-threatening injuries'. Authorities have not released any details on the cause of the crash, the number of vehicles involved or if any charges are pending. Motorcyclist taken to hospital with serious injuries after Kitchener crash

The Waterloo Regional Police Service was called to the intersection of Lancaster Street West and Union Street on Friday around noon. Investigators said the operator of a northbound motorcycle was turning left onto Union Street when he was hit by the driver of a southbound Jeep on Lancaster. The motorcyclist, a 64-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Jeep, a 58-year-old man, was not physically hurt. The intersection was closed for several hours during the investigation but has since reopened. Investigators are looking for any witnesses or anyone who may have footage of the incident.
