Police still investigating Ling's disappearance
The Home Minister said the investigation paper is still being prepared together with several documents and it will be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions.
'The police remain committed to investigating any reported cases of abduction or disappearance in accordance with standard operating procedures and existing legal provisions,' he said in reply to a question from Ram Karpal Singh (PH-Bukit Gelugor), who asked the ministry to reveal the status of the investigation into the case.
Ram Karpal also wanted to know whether the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is being investigated as Ling was abducted on her way to the MACC office on April 9.
The Home Minister said that the police consistently cooperate with other enforcement agencies, including the MACC, when required.
On April 9 this year, Ling was summoned to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to assist an investigation under the MACC Act 2009 and Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
However, she never arrived.
Her lawyer lodged a police report on her disappearance the same day.
CCTV footage showed her being abducted by several men.
So far, no ransom demand has been received.

MELAKA, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- An electrical goods technician was charged in the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court here today with 52 counts of committing incest, physical sexual assault and recording pornographic videos of his biological daughter since May. According to the charges, the 41-year-old man is accused of committing the offences at a house in Taman Tambak Paya Harmoni, Melaka Tengah, against his 18-year-old daughter between May 12 and Aug 6. When the charges were read before Judge Haderiah Siri, the accused pleaded not guilty to all counts. Of the total charges, 17 were framed under Section 376B of the Penal Code for committing incest, which carries imprisonment of not less than 10 years and up to 30 years, and whipping, if convicted. For the other 34 charges, the accused was charged under Sections 14(b) and 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act (SOACA) 2017, read together with Section 16(1) of the same Act. The offences under those sections carry a penalty of imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping, while Section 16(1) of SOACA 2017 provides for imprisonment not exceeding five years and a minimum of two strokes of the cane. One charge was also brought under Section 7 of SOACA 2017 for producing child pornography by recording two images of his daughter naked in a bathroom at the same location on July 9. If convicted, the accused faces imprisonment of up to 20 years and not less than five strokes of the cane. The prosecution, led by Muhamad Ehsan Nasarudin, proposed bail of RM20,000 for each charge with additional conditions including prohibition on contacting the victim and witnesses, reporting to the nearest police station every two weeks and surrendering his passport to the court.

Witness denies police beat suspects, forced confession in Palestinian kidnapping case
KUALA LUMPUR: A police officer denied in the High Court here today that two suspects in a Palestinian man's kidnapping case were severely beaten by police, resulting in serious injuries such as a torn tongue during their arrest at a chalet in Hulu Langat three years ago. ASP Mohamad Jazlan Sharif, 42, currently attached to the Intelligence and Operations Division of the Dang Wangi police headquarters Criminal Investigation Department, testified under cross-examination by defence lawyer Norma Goh Kim Lian. The eight accused in the case are Tengku Arif Bongsu Tengku Hamid, 44; Mohamad Naziree Mustapha, 44; Faizull Hardey Mohd Isa, 45; Muhammad Iqmal Abdul Rahis, 30; Mohd Zaidi Mohd Zain, 59; Nidarahayu Zainal, 39; Raibafie Amdan, 44; and Edy Ko'im Said, 45. Goh: I state to you that during the time in room 110, the fifth and sixth accused, Mohamad Naziree and Faizull Hardey, were severely beaten by your team, sustaining serious injuries, including a torn tongue and bodily injuries. MACC detains three for false claims in Sabah and Selangor
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained three individuals in separate cases involving false claims in Sabah and Selangor. In Sabah, two businesspersons were arrested for allegedly submitting fraudulent claims under the Small and Medium Industry (SMI) Assistance Programme. The suspects, a man and a woman in their 50s, were detained at the Sabah MACC office while giving their statements. Investigations revealed the duo submitted false claims worth over RM3.6 million to the Department of Industrial Development and Research (DIDR) between 2022 and 2023. One claim involved the supply of retort machines and equipment worth over RM400,000, while the other covered MeSTI, My Food, and halal certification services valued at over RM3.2 million. Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrests, stating the case is being probed under Sections 18 and 28(1)(c) of the MACC Act 2009. Both suspects were released on RM10,000 bail each after posting RM1,000 and will face charges at the Kota Kinabalu Special Corruption Sessions Court this Thursday. The female suspect, also in her 50s, was arrested at the Selangor MACC office while providing her statement.
