Steelers sign veteran safety, waive fifth-year defensive tackle at training camp
Clark, who was drafted by the Ravens with the 186th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, has 75 games of starting experience. After six seasons in Baltimore, Clark signed with the New York Jets in 2023 but unfortunately tore his ACL in June of that year. Clark started 12 games for the Jets in 2024 but suffered a torn pectoral on December 31, ending his season prematurely.
Davis, a fifth-year defensive tackle who spent time with the Jets and Bengals, appeared in just two games since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He signed a Reserve/Future contract with the Steelers in January but unfortunately will have to compete on a 90-man roster elsewhere.
Those in attendance at training camp were treated to an early arrival from Clark, who will wear No. 21 this upcoming season.

Few NFL franchises can boast the sheer volume of talent over the decades that the Pittsburgh Steelers can. The Pro Football Hall of Fame is filled with former Steelers and the franchise has six Super Bowl championships. The team also has their own Ring of Honor and each year a select few former Steelers legends get their names added. On Saturday, the Steelers announced the three former Steelers who will be a part of the 2025 class. This class is headlined by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. He is joined by center Maurkice Pouncey and outside linebacker Joey Porter. To be considered for the Hall of Honor, a player must be retired for at least three seasons, have spent at least three seasons with the Steelers, and obviously have had a significant impact on the team during their tenure. Other members of the Hall of Honor include Terry Bradshaw, Joe Greene, Franco Harris, Jack Lambert, Jack Ham, Mel Blount, Mike Webster, Dermontti Dawson, John Stallworth, Rod Woodson, Troy Polamalu, Donnie Shell, Ernie Stautner, Jerome Bettis, and Alan Faneca. According to the team's press release, the Steelers will welcome the 2025 Hall of Honor Class when the team takes on the Miami Dolphins on Monday, Dec. 15.

'Perhaps even before he turns 30 years old next fall, when he'll be heading into the final year of his current deal.' Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will fall short of Pro Bowl After three straight years in the Pro Bowl, Fitzpatrick will fall short in 2025. It will be harder for him to make a splashy impact for a defense that will have trouble stopping other teams. Also, look for Fitzpatrick's tackle total to drop because the Dolphins will use him in different ways. Overall, it looks like the Dolphins will have trouble staying close to the .500 mark. That will not hurt Fitzpatrick's chances of making big plays, but also make it more difficult for him to be motivated — especially late in the season. If the Dolphins fall out of contention and look for a reboot, Fitzpatrick is the type of player who could help them gain draft assets. Because the Dolphins likely aren't going to be competing for a Super Bowl title any time soon, Fitzpatrick might want to look at the return to his former team as a short-stay situation. Fitzpatrick might even be playing for a team other than the Dolphins before the 2025 season is over. Moments after the news broke that Ramsey would be traded to the Steelers, details around the trade started to unfold, including that Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith is also heading to Pittsburgh. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network laid out the full details: 'Dolphins have agreed to trade CB Jalen Ramsey, TE Jonnu Smith, and a 2027 7th-round pick to Pittsburgh in exchange for S Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 5th-round pick,' Pelissero posted on X. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network would report that Ramsey's adjusted contract 'includes a $1.5M raise in 2025, making his salary $26.6M this year.'
