A spell has been cast. Three children – Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton – have magically gone from obscurity to global fame, after HBO announced that they will be playing Harry, Ron and Hermione in the new Harry Potter series. HBO released a photograph of the trio, kneeling in the grass looking earnest, expectant, enthusiastic – and very, very, young. My first thought? Good luck to them, they're going to need it.
The fact that HBO felt the need to immediately disable the comments underneath its Instagram post shows the scale of pre-emptive scrutiny the project is under. The series itself is a huge risk, and with many wondering how they plan to re-introduce the wizarding world to a new audience when the old one is still very much present.
To call Harry Potter a franchise or fandom is an understatement.

Now, Katherine has told how a different male neighbour on the other side of the fence caused issues over the recent Bank Holiday weekend. In her podcast, the Canadian described her outdoor space as "a beautiful garden that my husband takes such good pride in." Yet detailing the "big drama" to come, she told how their new neighbour had informed them he would be doing some gardening work ahead of their family trip to Costco. Her eldest daughter Violet, 15, stayed at home yet rung her parent to tell her "there is a giant tree in our garden." In the frantic call she told her: "The neighbours are chopping down trees, does Bobby want to see a photo?" Katherine then tells her: "I show Bobby the photo, a giant tree has fallen over and through our fence and is in the garden. "You can see many other trees were cut at the tree line." Katherine Ryan says she's planning £174k facelift at 41 as she reveals exactly when she'll get it done She told how it was a "big change" to their landscape and added: "Those trees have been around a long time, as someone with a planning background we are in a conservation area." She then reverted back to explaining her spouse's reaction, telling her Katherine's Telling Everybody Everything listeners: "Now we have got an entire tree in our f**king garden and Bobby is having a meltdown in the Costco. "Not angry just looking really sad, then he got quiet. I had to take the children away from the trolley." She then told how he had a chat with the neighbour when they got home, and arranged to have some more surveys done before any more trees were chopped down. Katherine added: "He loves nature and the garden and the shade those trees provided "He just takes a lot of pride in his garden "I don't think Bobby would chop down anything without telling a neighbour. "My concern is I have small children and dogs, if a giant tree is fell in our garden there are safe ways to do that." She added of her partner: "It just ruined the day, it's like his sports team had lost." The pair entered into a civil partnership in Denmark in 2019. The Rock DJ star is set to perform in front of a full crowd at Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday evening. With tens of thousands set to attend the concert, the star is kicking off his Britpop tour in the city before heading to London, Manchester, Bath and then across Europe. Doors open for the gig at 4pm, and it's expected to wrap up at around 11pm. Robbie will take to the stage at 8.30pm, with Lottery Winners on at 6pm and Rag 'n' Bone Man following at 7pm. On Saturday morning, the singer shared a post on Instagram while performing with his band and wearing a Britpop T-shirt. He captioned the video: "See you tonight Edinburgh for BRITPOP Night 1." Over 600 comments were left on the short clip. One fan said: "Have a brilliant time tonight!!! Can't wait to hear Rocket live next week! I'm practising keeping up with the lyrics in the verse without passing out." Another wrote: "Sooo excited. Bringing my boy for his first ever concert."
