Gulveer clocked a time of 7:34.49s at the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest, a Continental Tour Gold meet to finish fifth.
Reliance Foundation athlete Gulveer Singh added the 3000m national record to the 5000m and 10000m national records which already stand in his name in an imperious display on Tuesday (August 12). Gulveer clocked a time of 7:34.49s at the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest, a Continental Tour Gold meet to finish fifth. This was the first time that Gulveer was competing in this discipline in Europe.
He broke Surendra Singh's record that had stood since 2008.

Earlier this year, Gulveer Singh also pocketed the men's 3000m indoor national record and the Asian 5000m short track record at an athletics meet in Boston.
In March 2025, Gulveer bettered his own men's 10,000m national record, clocking 27:00.22s at The Ten 2025 athletics meet.
The 26-year-old shaved off 14.66 seconds to better his own national record of 27:14.88, which he set at the Hachioji Long Distance 2024 event in Japan.
Coincidentally, Gulveer broke the 10000m national record for the first time at The Ten last year, finishing with a time of 27:41.81. This performance surpassed Surendra Singh's previous record of 28:02.89, which had stood since 2008. Gulveer later improved his record at the Hachioji Long Distance event in Japan.
The Hangzhou Asian Games bronze medallist's time at The Ten, a World Athletics Continental Tour silver-level meet, was also agonisingly close to the automatic qualifying standard for the World Athletics Championships 2025, which stands at 27:00.00 – just 0.22 seconds faster than Gulveer's finish. However, he breached the entry standard for the Asian Athletics Championships 2025, which is set at 29.33.26s by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).

'Very Surprising...': Australia Batting Star Sharpening Bowling For T20 World Cup In India

Last Updated: Glenn Maxwell is honing his spin-bowling for the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, aiming to excel in powerplay overs on spinner-friendly pitches. With an eye on next year's T20 World Cup in the Indian subcontinent, charismatic Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is honing his spin-bowling skills to become more effective during the powerplay overs, as he might need to bowl with the new ball on spinner-friendly pitches. The 2026 T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, and if fully fit, the spin-bowling all-rounder is likely to be part of the Australian team as it aims to reclaim the trophy it last won in 2021. Maxwell has been a regular in the Indian Premier League, representing various teams, with his most successful stints being with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings, where he has excelled as a powerful batter capable of making decisive impacts with the ball. Despite his bowling skills, Maxwell has bowled only five powerplay overs in total in the shortest format between the 2022 T20 World Cup and the ongoing home series against South Africa. However, the 36-year-old believes he could be useful in powerplay overs during the T20 World Cup as the new ball grips the subcontinent's wickets better. 'I think in the subcontinent you might be able to get a little bit more out of it (wicket) as a spinner early on," Maxwell told 'Especially that new ball, the hard seam, being able to grip on those dry surfaces. So it might be something we think about heading forward." He took two wickets in the second T20I against South Africa in Darwin, including that of skipper Aiden Markram in the fifth powerplay over. 'I love getting wickets. It's very surprising anytime I get anyone out. I'm there to do a job in the powerplay and I'm trying to execute that as well as I can," he said. Besides his bowling, Maxwell has been flexible in playing at any position based on the team's requirements. 'I've been a bit of the shuffler around the order, up and down. I'm filling holes at the moment. Even during the West Indies series, trying to combat Akeal Hosein (by) going up the top, this series (against South Africa) going a little bit lower, trying to manage that back end (of the innings). '(I'm) trying to play whatever role is needed for me in this side and just try and be as adaptable as possible," he added. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Washington Sundar Reveals How Handshake Drama Impacted Team India: 'You Ask Any Player...'

Last Updated: The handshake drama at Old Trafford acted as a springboard for the Indian team, says allrounder Washington Sundar. The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy had its fair share of drama. Attempts were made to distract batters, time-wasting tactics were explicitly mocked, spirit of the game was questioned and more. One of the abiding memories of the hard-fought Test series between India and England that ended 2-2 was Ben Stokes expressing his frustration after his offer of handshake to end the Manchester Test in a draw was turned down. With the contest overwhelmingly heading towards a draw on the fifth day thanks to a superlative effort from India batters after being down 0/2 at one stage, Stokes, wanting to preserve his bowlers for the fifth Test, offered a draw to the two unbeaten batters – Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar who were inching closer to their respective centuries. After it wasn't accepted, Stokes wondered why the two batters were interested in personal milestones when the fate of the contest was almost sealed. Sundar says the incident fired up the team. 'I mean, it just happens in any sport, doesn't it?" Washington told Wisden. 'We've seen a lot of such things happen, not just in cricket, but in any sport. That's how sport is. It brings out a lot. I think it was just an experience for all of us, honestly." Washington, who scored his maiden century after the drama, said players hope to be challenged in Test cricket as it helps to bring the best out of them. 'One hundred per cent," he said. 'You ask this to any player – that's exactly what you would hear. Especially in Test cricket, you want to be challenged because that's exactly what you expect every single day. And when the situation gets tough, the only thing that will help you get over it and come out successful is being really tough in your head." After securing a draw in Manchester, India went on to complete a thrilling six-run win at The Oval on the final day. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Saaniya is the granddaughter of renowned Mumbai businessman Ravi Ghai, one of the leading personalities in the food industry, maintaining ties with international food chains. A vet expert from Mumbai, Saaniya Chandhok, hit the headlines on Thursday, as reports claimed she got engaged to legendary Sachin Tendulkar's son, Arjun, a day earlier. No official statement has been made by the two families about the engagement ceremony, but the mark of a new beginning in junior Tendulkar's life has raised curiosity about Saaniya. Arjun, 25, who has been part of the Mumbai Indians since 2021, presented a ring to Saaniya in a private ceremony attended only by close friends and family members on Wednesday. Ever since the news of the engagement, fans have been wondering about Saaniya and who the new member of the Tendulkar family is. Who is Saaniya Chandhok? According to a report by India Today, Saaniya is the granddaughter of renowned Mumbai businessman Ravi Ghai, who is one of the leading personalities in the hospitality and food industry, maintaining ties with InterContinental Hotel and Brooklyn Creamery. The report also claims Arjun's fiancée is the founder of Mumbai-based Mr. Paws Pet Spa & Store LLP, which is an established brand known for pet grooming services. In a post earlier this year, the brand confirmed Saaniya is a certified Veterinary Technician from WVS, having completed her ABC programme. Apart from this, Saaniya is reportedly involved in the Ghai family's business activities and manages multiple companies. Despite hailing from a business tycoon's family, Saaniya maintains a low profile on social media, with just over 800 followers and only 26 posts on her private Instagram account. Her follower account, though, includes Arjun and his sister Sara Tendulkar, with whom she has been clicked and appeared in social media posts several times.
