Three Maoists, including two women, carrying a collective cash reward of ₹19 lakh on their heads, have surrendered in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district, citing disillusionment over the 'hollow' Maoist ideology and exploitation of tribals, police said on Thursday.One of the Maoists, identified as Bhima, alias Dinesh Podiam (40), turned himself in on Wednesday, while the two women cadres - Sukli Korram, alias Sapna, and Devli Mandavi (22) - surrendered on Tuesday before the authorities, an official said."Narayanpur police, ITBP and BSF have played a crucial role in their surrender," an official said.

Home Minister G. Parameshwara said here on Friday that every police constable in the State is being trained in cybercrime investigation. Speaking at the launch of Special Action Force (SAF) in Mangaluru on Friday, Mr. Parameshwara said there is drastic rise in cybercrime cases in the State and all police stations are now empowered to register FIR on different cyber frauds. 'Every police constable is being trained in cybercrime investigation. Training is being given in the offices of (District) Superintendent of Police,' Mr. Parameshwara said. The State police are adopting new technology solutions to improve policing. Additional Hoysala vehicles are being given to all districts to help police to quickly respond to calls of people. Later speaking to reporters, the Minister said the Anti-Naxal Force will not be totally dismantled. As many as 248 personnel from ANF were pulled out to create the SAF. He said though there was no activity of Maoists in Karnataka, they are active in other parts of the country. 'We have retained the (400-odd) ANF personnel in case need arises to make use of them in the coming days,' Mr. Parameshwara said.

1 2 Koraput: Malkangiri police on Friday arrested two hardcore Maoists from a forested area near the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border following an exchange of fire. A large cache of arms, ammunition and Maoist materials were seized during the operation. The arrested Maoists have been identified as Kesaka Wasi, a member of the Kangerghati area committee and a resident of Chandametta Patalpara under Darba police station limits in Chhattisgarh, and Sanu Kunjam, also an ACM (area committee member), affiliated to the AOB military platoon section-01. He hails from Tamod village under Ganglur police station limits in the neighbouring state, police said. "We had specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of a Maoist group in the forest areas of Sodiguda and Tenguliguda villages. Based on the tip-off, a joint combing operation was launched by the security forces on the intervening night of June 12 and 13," said Vinod Patil, SP of Malkangiri. Patil said the police team spotted a group of armed Maoists during the early hours of Friday. "When our personnel challenged them to surrender, the Maoists opened fire. Our forces responded in a controlled manner and returned fire in self-defence. During interrogation, Wasi confessed to having joined the Maoistst in 2010 at the age of 17. Kunjam joined the banned outfit in 2009 when he was just 14. "They were involved in numerous high-profile Maoist operations, including ambushes, camp attacks and vehicle torching incidents that resulted in casualties on both sides. The arrested cadres are wanted in more than 20 cases in Malkangiri and Koraput districts. The charges include provisions under IPC, Arms Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and Explosive Substances Act," the SP added. Police seized a pistol, 6 rounds of ammunition, 10 electric detonators, a radio set, walkie-talkie and a substantial amount of Maoist belongings from the site. Two top Maoists caught in Malkangiri

Bhubaneswar: The Border Security Force (BSF) and Odisha Police arrested two notorious Maoists on Friday following an exchange of fire in the jungles of Malkangiri district. The arrested Maoists are Kesha Kawasi (32), an area committee member (ACM) of Kangerghati, and Rakesh alias Sanu Kunjam (30), ACM of Andhra-Odisha border Maoist military platoon. Both of them hail from Chhattisgarh. They were apprehended by the security forces from an area near Sodiguda and Tentuliguda villages under Mathili police station. The two Maoists were involved in multiple cases of attacks, improvised explosive device (IED) blasts against security forces in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and have multiple FIRs registered against them. Commandant of BSF's 2nd battalion Varunendra Pratap Singh and Malkangiri SP Vinod Patil said the two were caught by the joint forces who were operating in the area based on "credible" intelligence inputs.
