12 Illegal Workers Detained And 125 Violators Deported
Twelve violating and irregular workers were detained, and 125 violators were deported following 1,077 inspection campaigns and visits carried out by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) between 25 and 31 May 2025. The inspection campaigns and visits also resulted in monitoring a number of violations related to the provisions of a number of regulating laws, especially the Labour Market Regulatory Authority and the Residency Laws in the Kingdom of Bahrain, noting that legal measures were taken regarding the observed violations. The authority pointed out that 1,062 inspection visits were carried out on various shops in all governorates, in addition to 15 joint inspection campaigns, that included 5 campaigns in the Capital Governorate, 3 campaigns in Muharraq Governorate, 6 campaigns in the Northern Governorate, and 1 campaign in the Southern Governorate. The government entities that participated in the campaigns are the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), the Governorate's respective Police Directorate, the General Directorate of Media and Security Culture, the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and the Social Insurance Organisation. Joint coordination The Authority affirmed the continuation of joint coordination with government agencies to intensify inspection campaigns in all governorates of the Kingdom, and to address any violations or practices that negatively affect the stability and competitiveness of the labour market or harm economic and social security of the Kingdom. The renewed its call on all members of the society to support the efforts of government agencies in addressing illegal labour practices, by reporting violations via the electronic form on the authority's website or by calling the authority's call centre on 17506055 or via the government's Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul). Prosecutors Seek Death Sentence For Man for Murdering
Prosecutors have called for the death sentence for a man accused of murdering his neighbour in Shakhura, insisting a psychiatric report shows he was fully aware of his actions. Addressing the High Criminal Court yesterday, the Public Prosecution said the defendant, in his forties, had planned the killing and carried it out with intent. A medical panel confirmed he bore full responsibility at the time of the attack. Sound mind Claims that he was not of sound mind were brushed aside. The prosecution cited a statement from the defendant's brother, who said his mental condition had improved, and stressed that the forensic report ruled out any disorder affecting his judgement. The defence maintained its position. Records The lawyer presented records showing his client had been admitted to hospital some 25 years ago and urged the court to include the full medical file in the case. He also asked that the defendant be reassessed by a medical committee to determine whether he could be held to account for his actions. Asked directly by the judges, the defendant said he had a medical history but could not remember what happened on the day in question. The court ordered a new review by the relevant medical panel and set 16 June for the examination. State of mind A full report is to be submitted, focusing on the defendant's state of mind during the incident. His medical file will be attached to the case papers. In the same hearing, lawyer Abdulrahman Ghonaim filed a request for compensation. He said the crime had left the victim's children fatherless, the youngest being only two, and argued that the impact of the act warranted redress. Body The case began when police in the Northern Governorate found a body near a house in Shakhura. The victim had been stabbed several times. Prosecutors and forensic experts were dispatched to the scene, where the body was inspected and evidence gathered. Samples were collected for testing and witness statements taken. Security camera footage helped identify the suspect, who turned out to be a neighbour and a relative of the victim. Arrest He was arrested on the orders of the Prosecution. During questioning, he admitted to the killing. He said he had lain in wait for the victim due to an old dispute and attacked him with a knife as he stepped out of his home. Bahrain Becomes First Emirates Route Served
Bahrain has become the first destination in the Emirates network to be exclusively served by the state-of-the-art Airbus A350, following the arrival of the airline's third A350 at Bahrain International Airport on 2 June. The milestone was marked by the deployment of Emirates' third daily A350 flight (EK835), which departed Dubai at 0200 hrs and landed in Bahrain at 0215 hrs. The return flight, EK836, departed Bahrain at 0340 hrs and arrived in Dubai at 0605 hrs. The strategic move aligns with Emirates' 'Fly Better' initiative, aimed at enhancing passenger experience and modernising its fleet. The Airbus A350 offers next-generation features, including 32 Business Class lie-flat seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, 21 Premium Economy seats in a 2-3-2 layout, and 259 Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 layout. Passengers can enjoy faster Wi-Fi, Emirates' award-winning ice entertainment system, quieter cabins, higher ceilings, and advanced cabin lighting – all designed to maximise comfort and reduce travel fatigue. Emirates' decision to deploy the A350 exclusively to Bahrain underscores its commitment to the Kingdom and highlights the strengthening ties between the two countries. The A350 currently operates on several short and medium-haul routes, including Amman, Kuwait, Edinburgh, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Colombo, and Tunis.
