GMB star called 111 over bowel cancer fears ahead of emergency surgery
Good Morning Britain star Ranvir Singh has returned to the ITV daytime show following her emergency appendix surgery.
Good Morning Britain's Ranvir Singh has opened up about her recent health scare and emergency surgery on Friday's episode of the show.
While chatting with Made in Chelsea's Sam Vanderpump, who recently faced a life-threatening battle with liver and kidney failure leading to sepsis, Ranvir shared her own brush with a medical emergency.
The 27-year-old reality star emphasised the importance of seeking medical advice for sepsis symptoms, prompting Ranvir to recount her experience when her appendix ruptured just weeks ago.
Ranvir recalled the moment she decided to call 111 after enduring pain all day post-work, saying: "It's interesting, you know when I had my appendix ruptured a couple of weeks ago, about three weeks ago, the thing that made me call 111, I had sort of been writhing around all day straight after work."
She linked her decision to Lorraine's team raising awareness about bowel cancer, stating: "It was eight o'clock at night, and I thought, 'Let's check it's not bowel cancer'. I don't know, it's because Lorraine's team have been doing a bowel cancer thing."
Highlighting the impact of health campaigns, she added: "So, raising awareness genuinely works in the moment when you're in pain, you go, 'What could it be?'. So just planting a seed in the mind of someone."
Co-host Rob Rinder then chimed in, revealing that initially, doctors dismissed Ranvir's severe pain, asking: "They told you it was nothing, I think, at first?" to which Ranvir confirmed: "Yeah."
Earlier in May, Ranvir took to Instagram to tell her followers that she had to undergo urgent surgery after her appendix burst, despite having presented Lorraine just the day before, reports Bristol Live.
After feeling drained and foggy and thinking a coffee could sort it, TV star Ranvir Singh was struck by a sudden stomach ache.
She shared her ordeal on social media, saying: "I stay in bed all day. Turns out I had a ruptured appendix and had urgent surgery at midnight on Thursday!
"Woke up 5am on Friday morning, high on anaesthetic and certain I could get into work to host the show as normal [laughing emoji].
"Pretty nasty few days, the bacteria had spread and infected my blood etc and told to take this week off by @jadeens I'm sore and shuffling around, can't drive for a week, and no exercise for 4 weeks (! ) so really it's the boredom that will kill me!"
With 'horrendous' shoulder pain also afflicting her, well-wishers flooded in with supportive messages for Ranvir.
Despite the health scare, the resilient presenter returned to hosting duties on ITV alongside Rob Rinder on Friday.

Chappell Roan's 'actually normal' bikini body revealed: see what the star looks like stripped down
Chappell Roan took to Instagram on Sunday night to share scantily clad photos with her 7.1 million followers. The 27-year-old pop star — who was recently mistaken for Anna Delvey — posed in a black bikini, showing off her stunning figure. One snapshot showed The Giver hitmaker giving fans an eyeful as she posed with her plump bottom on display in high-cut tie-string bikini bottoms. She captioned the carousel post, 'I am actually normal.' But Roan, born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, looked anything but ordinary as she showed off her striking beauty. Chappell looked typically gorgeous with her flaming-red curly locks falling around her. The images have so far collected 1.3 million likes from the singer's devoted online audience. It comes after earlier this year the entertainer ignited a generational divide when she said in an interview: 'I don't know a single person who is happy and has children at this age.' Recognized for her drag aesthetic and punchy feminist lyrics, Chappell identifies as a lesbian. While appearing on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, she was asked by the host if she would ever have children. She answered unequivocally: 'All of my friends who have kids are in hell. I don't know anyone who's happy and has children at this age.' The star reiterated, 'I have not met anyone who is happy, anyone who has light in their eyes, anyone who has slept [who has a child under five].' The remarks prompted a fiery debate online. Some moms insisted it 'was not an accurate or healthy message to peddle, particularly when the birth rate is down.' One person wrote: 'Chappell Roan going on Call Her Daddy saying none of her friends with kids are happy, is a prime example of why you cannot just vent to anyone.' Someone else wished, 'May the friendship of narcissistic childless women with no sense of loyalty ever find me.' Meanwhile, others related to Chappell's statements, with one person weighing in: 'The people who have made me most scared to become a mother are mothers. 'What Chappell said is all I see because lots of mothers I see are like, "This is miserable" and mothers can also be the most competitive, nasty and judgmental people.'

Celebrity hairstylist Jesus Guerrero died of pneumonia and fungal infection, likely complications from AIDS
Jesus Guerrero, the celebrity hairstylist who died in February and was known for working with clients such as Kylie Jenner, Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry, died of pneumonia and a fungal infection, according to the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner, likely complications from AIDS. The medical examiner's office listed Guerrero's primary cause of death as pneumonia and disseminated cryptococcus neoformans — or a fungal infection — with Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome listed as the secondary cause of death. Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia, the kind Guerrero was listed as having, is a particularly severe kind of pneumonia that is typically seen in people with weak immune systems, making the AIDS diagnosis a likely contributing factor. Both are classified as Opportunistic Infections (OIs), meaning that they are more common and more severe in people with weak immune systems. Guerrero's family announced his death on Instagram on Feb. 23. An online fundraiser launched by his sister said Guerrero's passing came 'suddenly and unexpectedly.' 'We have fallen into tears repeatedly reminiscing and wondering what we could of done different to still have him with us," the family said at the time, calling him 'the brightest light.' Two days later, Jenner shared an emotional post commemorating her hairstylist, who she called more than a friend and "a light in my life." "I don't know how I would have made it through the last almost decade without him by my side," Jenner wrote. "He had a way of making even the heaviest days feel lighter." Jenner's sisters, Kim Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian, chimed in, sharing their love for and appreciation of Guerrero in Instagram posts at the time.
