Prayagraj: Police on Wednesday arrested two women teachers who had allegedly repeatedly slapped the three-and-a-half-year-old nursery student of a private school, leading to his death in Prayagraj's trans Yamuna area on May 15.
Identified as Arti Jaiswal (40) and Shivangi Jaiswal (25), both are residents of Maheva Paschim Patti area in Naini and have been booked under section 105 of the BNS (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
The teachers were arrested from near Agriculture Institute Road while they were planning to escape from the city, said DCP (Yamuna Nagar) Vivek Yadav.
"During interrogation, Arti confessed that she was teaching class 7 students when Shivangi called her to the classroom.
When she reached there, she saw Shivay crying in the presence of his elder brother Sumit Jaiswal even as Shivangi was slapping him repeatedly," said Yadav.
"When Arti asked Shivangi why she was beating the boy, Shivangi told her that the nursery student was abusing her. At this, Arti also slapped him in a fit of rage," Yadav told TOI.
Arti also admitted that Shivay's elder brother even made a futile attempt to stop both teachers, but they continued to slap the nursery kid repeatedly.
