Turkish Ambassador in Cairo Welcomes Students Students Promoting Cultural Exchange
Salih Mutlu Şen, the Turkish Ambassador to Egypt, expressed his pleasure in meeting a group of Turkish high school students currently visiting Cairo to enhance their Arabic language skills and deepen their understanding of Egypt's rich cultural heritage.
In a message following his meeting with the students at the Turkish Embassy Residence, Ambassador Şen said he was delighted to see young Turkish learners taking an active interest in the Arabic language and Egyptian culture. The students, aged 15 to 18, came from Şehit Mehmet Güder Anadolu İmam Hatip High School and were accompanied by their teachers and school leaders.
'It was a great pleasure to hear from these enthusiastic young people,' Ambassador Şen noted. 'I truly appreciated their reflections on Egypt and their recognition of the long-standing cultural and historical ties that unite our two nations.'
The ambassador also expressed his hope that more Turkish students would enroll at Egypt's prestigious Al-Azhar University in the future—not only to pursue Islamic studies but also to study the natural sciences, reflecting the comprehensive academic opportunities the institution offers.
During the meeting, Ambassador Şen encouraged the visiting students to explore Cairo's Islamic landmarks. He recommended visiting the Citadel of Saladin, home to the historic mosques of Mehmet Ali Pasha and Hadım Süleyman Pasha. He also suggested they see the Mosque of Ibn Tulun, the Sultan Hassan Mosque, and the tomb and mosque of Imam Shafi, which they had not yet visited.

Ireland Pledges €4 Million to Support Education and Public Services in Palestine

Harris also remarked that the coming days represent a "critical opportunity" to achieve a ceasefire and end the ongoing violence. He called on all parties to make every effort to reach a peace agreement that would halt the suffering and bring an end to the war. White House to Host UFC Fight to Celebrate 250th Anniversary Celebration
Rana Atef On Friday, US President Donald Trump announced that the White House will host an event for the top-ranked mixed martial arts promotion, UFC. The event will be part of festivities celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Trump said: 'We're gonna have a UFC fight, think of this, on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there,' Trump said at a rally in Des Moines, Iowa. The UFC event will be a 'championship fight, full fight, like, 20, 25,000 people,' Trump continued. Trump added: 'And we're gonna do that as part of 250 also,' referring to America250, the organization set up to commemorate the country's semiquincentennial. A UFC spokesperson confirmed to Variety that the company planning to stage an event at the White House, saying additional details will be announced soon. Dana White, the president of UFC, is known for his close relation with Trump. IAEA Withdraws Inspectors from Iran Amid Escalating Nuclear Crisis
Taarek Refaat The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced on Friday that it has withdrawn its remaining inspectors from Iran, citing unresolved tensions and restricted access to nuclear facilities damaged in recent military strikes by the United States and Israel. The move marks a dramatic escalation in the already fragile standoff between Tehran and the West, following a 12-day conflict that began with Israel's surprise airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites three weeks ago. 'The last group of our inspectors has safely departed Iran and is en route to the agency's headquarters in Vienna,' the IAEA said in a brief statement posted on X (formerly Twitter). The inspectors had remained in Tehran during the height of hostilities, which erupted on June 13. Since the attacks, which targeted key nuclear sites including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, the IAEA has been denied access to inspect the damage or monitor Iran's nuclear activities. Although Iran has not officially suspended cooperation with the agency, the Iranian parliament passed legislation last week that effectively halts such collaboration until authorities verify the safety and security of the country's nuclear infrastructure. The IAEA's Director General, Rafael Grossi, has described restoring inspector access as a 'top priority,' but acknowledged that the agency has faced increasing difficulties on the ground. Diplomats close to the matter say the number of inspectors in Iran has dwindled significantly since the war began, and concerns about their safety have grown amid mounting anti-IAEA rhetoric from Iranian officials and state media. Iranian leaders have accused the agency of 'laying the groundwork' for foreign military action, pointing to a sharply critical IAEA report issued on May 31, which concluded that Iran was in violation of key non-proliferation commitments. That report, endorsed by the IAEA Board of Governors, was followed by a resolution condemning Tehran's lack of transparency. In response to those accusations, Grossi defended the report, insisting it was based on factual assessments and denied that it served as a pretext for military intervention. 'We stand by our findings,' Grossi said. 'The agency does not facilitate or justify the use of force. Our role is strictly technical and impartial.' Tensions reached a boiling point after the U.S. joined the offensive on June 21, launching coordinated strikes on Iran's nuclear sites alongside Israel. In addition to infrastructure damage, several high-ranking Iranian nuclear scientists were assassinated in targeted operations, reportedly attributed to Israeli intelligence. With diplomatic channels frozen and IAEA oversight suspended, nuclear proliferation experts are warning of an increasingly opaque and volatile situation. 'The absence of inspectors on the ground makes it nearly impossible to verify what Iran is doing with its nuclear material,' one Western diplomat told [News Organization]. The latest developments raise urgent questions about the future of nuclear diplomacy with Iran, particularly in light of Tehran's recent statements asserting its right to continue uranium enrichment.
