Ongole: The Superintendent of Police for Prakasam district, AR Damodar, inaugurated the 43rd National Level Karate Championship under the auspices of Siddhartha Karate-Do Academy at the Mini Stadium here on Sunday.
Speaking at the event, SP Damodar emphasised that such competitions foster sportsmanship, discipline, and courage among students. He expressed pride that approximately 700 athletes from 12 states across the country are participating in the championship.
The SP highlighted that martial arts like karate develop both physical strength and mental resilience in youth while serving as platforms for mutual understanding and friendship among participants from different regions. Damodar noted that sports effectively keep young people away from bad habits and encouraged parents to promote their children's participation in athletics. He urged Prakasam district athletes to showcase excellent skills and bring recognition to their region.
Ongole DSP R Srinivasarao, Taluka CI Vijay Krishna, Ongole Two Town CI Srinivasarao, karate association leaders Nalluri Mohan Rao, educational institution head Nalluri Venkateswarlu, Mandava Murali Krishna, Marella Subbarao, Mandava Subbarao, and numerous karate coaches from various districts attended the ceremony.

To promote fitness and well-being across the city, Vizag Runners Society is actively conducting monthly club runs and free professional strength training sessions. Led by a certified coach, these events are designed to engage individuals of all fitness levels and foster a culture of health and vitality. Speaking on the occasion, president of Vizag Runners Society Balakrishna Rai said, 'Our goal is to motivate people of Vizag to embrace fitness and transform the city into a symbol of health and vitality.' President Balakrishna Rai, secretary Srinivas Kancheti, treasurer Radhika Koneru, joint secretary Vivek Dassani, joint treasurer Rana Uppalapati, all founder members and core committee members of VR society explained to the audience that the Vizag Marathon is scheduled on November 30th. The run will be held in four categories 32-km, 21-km, 10-km and 5-km. On this occasion Mr. Bala Krishna Rai, explained to the audience about Vizag Marathon, which will be held on November 30 in four categories: 32 km, half marathon (21.125 Km), 10 km and 5 km. ONGOLE: Prakasam district Superintendent of Police (SP) AR Damodar officially opened the 43rd National Open Karate Championship-2025 at the Dr P Anand Mini Stadium here on Sunday. The tournament has attracted nearly 700 karate athletes from 12 states across the country, competing in various age groups. Damodar praised the event's organiser Sidharth Karate-Do Academy for making all arrangements and extended his best wishes to the participants. The first day's prize distribution ceremony was attended by Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao, SN Padu MLA BN Vijaya Kumar, AP Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Dr Nukasani Balaji, and AP Maritime Board Chairman Damacharla Satyanarayana. They presented prizes to the day's winners. The SP highlighted the benefits of martial arts like karate and judo, stating they help make young people stronger, sharper, and more disciplined. He urged parents to encourage their children to pursue sports based on their interests, as this fosters self-control and leads to a brighter future. 'It is possible to keep children and youth away from bad habits by encouraging them in their interested sports,' the SP.
