Prakasam SP receives complaints about fraudsters at PGRS
Ongole: District Superintendent of Police AR Damodar organised the weekly Public Grievance Redressal Programme (PGRS) at the district police office here on Monday to address citizen complaints. During the programme, SP Damodar and the police officers listened to complainants who arrived from various parts of the district. They engaged in face-to-face discussions with petitioners, understanding the background of their complaints, and assured them of a swift resolution within legal parameters. The SP instructed the concerned police station officers to conduct immediate investigations in accordance with the law and ensure speedy justice for the affected parties. The program received complaints regarding family disputes, harassment by husbands and in-laws, cheating, job fraud, land disputes, and other issues. Notable cases included a complaint from a Darsi mandal resident who was defrauded of Rs 1.80 lakh by someone from Duvvuru mandal, Kadapa district, who promised to sell a used tractor but later filed a false complaint against the victim. Another complainant from Giddaluru reported being cheated of Rs 5.50 lakh by a person who falsely promised municipal employment and housing for his son, subsequently threatening the victim when asked to return the money. The programme was attended by Women Police Station DSP Ramana Kumar, SC/ST Cell Inspector Durga Prasad, DTC Inspector Shamimulla, Traffic Inspector Pandu Rangarao, PGRS SI Janardan Rao, and other staff members.

550 modified silencers worth Rs 25 lakh destroyed
Ongole: Ina crackdown on noise pollution and traffic violations, Prakasam district police destroyed 550 modified silencers worth approximately Rs 25 lakh using a road roller, in Ongole on Friday. The enforcement action follows a six-month intensive drive by traffic police targeting two-wheelers fitted with unauthorised modified silencers that produce excessive noise. The initiative aims to maintain law and order, control crime, prevent traffic violations, and ensure road safety compliance within Ongole town limits. Speaking at the event, the District SP AR Damodar highlighted how miscreants have been creating panic by installing high-decibel modified silencers on motorcycles near roads, colleges, and public places. He said that the loud noise from unauthorised modified silencers causes severe discomfort to elderly people, children, and other road users. He emphasised that this isn't merely about inconvenience but represents a serious noise pollution issue with potential health implications, including mental stress and cardiovascular problems. He noted that removing original manufacturer-fitted silencers and installing noise-producing alternatives violates Motor Vehicle Act provisions. The SP warned of strict legal action against violators, including fines for creating noise pollution. Using modified silencers is a criminal offense under the Motor Vehicle Act, and protecting public safety and peace is our responsibility, he declared. The SP revealed that counselling sessions have been conducted for some offenders and announced that similar drives would continue in the future. He specifically appealed to youth and parents to avoid using modified silencers, calling it both illegal and antisocial behaviour. SP Damodar announced that the police action extends beyond silencers to include triple riding violations, vehicles without driving licenses, missing number plates, over-speeding, vehicles lacking proper registration, insurance, and documentation. He emphasised that vehicle number plates must comply with Motor Vehicle Act regulations and drivers must carry valid licenses, registration documents, and insurance papers. Everyone's cooperation is needed to maintain a peaceful environment in society, the SP stated, urging vehicle owners to follow traffic rules and avoid unnecessary noise pollution. He also commended helmet-wearing riders during the event. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Kanigiri DSP Sai Eswar Yashwant, Ongole Traffic Inspector Pandu Rangarao, and Traffic Sub-Inspectors Kotaiah, Srinivasarao, and Sivaprasad, along with supporting staff.

JEE Advanced toppers felicitated
Ongole: Prakasamdistrict Superintendent of Police AR Damodar honoured four outstanding students from Prakasam district who achieved exceptional results in the JEE Advanced examination during a special ceremony held at the District Police Office on Monday. The SP felicitated K Shanmukha Sai Reddy (EWS 2nd rank), SV Sai Chakri (EWS 3rd rank), SK Abdurrahim (EWS 40th rank), and Saket Ram (EWS 587th rank) with shawls in recognition of their outstanding performance in securing seats at prestigious IIT institutions. Speaking on the occasion, SP Damodar praised the students' achievement, stating that securing seats in prestigious institutions like IIT is truly commendable. He advised that students should strive to reach the highest peaks in life through firm determination, proper planning, time management, and rigorous hard work. He urged them to set the right plans during their student years and pave the way for a golden future through higher education. He encouraged the students to bring good name not only to their parents and district but also to the state by showcasing their talent in academics. Bhashyam School Principal Venkataramana and the parents of the honoured students were present.

Andhra Police nab Rs 15 crore land-forgery gang, arrest seven
ONGOLE: Police in Prakasam district have dismantled a major land-forgery racket, arresting seven members of a 14-strong gang that allegedly tried to seize prime property in Sankhavaram with falsified documents. Acting on instructions from Prakasam Superintendent of Police AR Damodar, a team led by Kanigiri DSP Sai Eswar Yashwanth and Circle Inspector Shaik Khaja Vali raided multiple locations late Tuesday and took the suspects into custody. They were produced in court on Wednesday. According to DSP Yashwanth, the gang fabricated title deeds to grab 0.95-acre of land in Survey Nos.301 and 302, valued at about Rs 15 crore. The principal accused include Gona Barnabas, Annapureddy Konda Reddy, Jutike Dilwan and Mukku Venkateswarlu of Gudipatipalli (Veligandla mandal); Mukku Venkata Sriramulu Reddy of Immadicheruvu; Sanikommu Brahma Reddy of Doddichintala (HM Padu mandal); and Balbhadra Ravi of CS Puram. Seven others remain at large. The fraud came to light when the rightful owner, Polamreddy Mala Konda Reddy, noticed irregularities and filed a complaint. Investigators cross checked records at the Sub-Registrar, MRO and Surveyor offices, confirming that forged papers had been created to transfer ownership. A case has been registered under Sections 61(2), 318(4), 338, 336(3) and 340(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police say arrests of the remaining suspects are imminent. 'We are committed to curbing land-grabbing through forged documents,' DSP Yashwanth said, warning real estate offenders of strict action and advising buyers to verify titles thoroughly before any transaction.

Police receive petitions on land disputes, family rows
Ongole: The Prakasam district SP, AR Damodar assured the public that the district police would be at the forefront in resolving their issues. The Prakasam district police organised the Public Grievance Redressal System programme at the district police office, along with the other police stations in the district, on Monday. In the PGRS programme held at the district police office, the SP received 83 grievances from the public from various places in the district. He interacted with the complainants, learned about their issues, and assured them that justice would be done for the victims. He spoke to the local police officers through the video conference in front of the complainants and ordered them to update him on the action taken on the urges from time to time. In the 83 urges received by the police, the authorities observed that most of them are for the resolution of disputes and differences between family members and domestic violence, cheating in the name of jobs, and to bring consensus between parties on the borders and distribution of land and assets. The SC/ST cell inspector Durga Prasad, DTC inspector Shamimulla, traffic inspector Panduranga Rao, PGRS SI Janardhana Rao, and other staff participated in the PGRS programme.
