Pune, Aug 1 (PTI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP president Ajit Pawar on Friday cautioned party workers against misconduct, including public disturbances and celebratory firing, saying such actions tarnish the reputation of both the individual and the party.
Chaufula is a village on the Pune-Solapur Road in Daund tehsil, known for its folk art centres showcasing lavani and tamasha performances.
Pawar also spoke about the alleged dowry death of Vaishnavi Hagawane, whose in-laws, including NCP leader Rajendra Hagawane, face accusations of harassment.
'Is it the party that asked the family to harass their daughter-in-law?' he questioned, adding that he would not have attended their wedding had he known of their actions.
The grand wedding in 2023 was a high-profile event, where Pawar himself handed the couple the keys to an SUV.
Vaishnavi (26), daughter-in-law of Hagawane, allegedly died by suicide at her marital home in Bavdhan, Pimpri-Chinchwad, on May 16.
Her family has alleged that she was harassed for dowry, including a demand for Rs 2 crore to purchase land. Hagawane has since been expelled from the party.

Such comments attack the very fabric of Indian civilisation, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said at a press conference here, and questioned whether such a position reflected the official stance of the NCP-SCP. Patra commented, 'We are a tolerant society, and that is precisely why we are expressing our protest through a press conference. Had such a statement been made about Islam and Muslims, the response would not have been as restrained.' 'It was this same tradition that denied Ambedkar the right to education and even access to water. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A video of Meghana Bordikar, the BJP minister of state for public health, threatening a gram sevak at a public function in Bori, of Parbhani's Jintur taluka, has gone viral. NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar posted the video on his social media handles, criticising Bordikar as well as chief minister Devendra Fadnavis for his choice of "arrogant" ministers in state govt. He accused Bordikar of threatening a gram sevak for allegedly not bringing an adequate number of PMAY beneficiaries to the event. Bordikar, however, said the gram sevak was demanding bribes from widows and workers among other PMAY beneficiaries, and, therefore, she reprimanded him in the public interest.
