Abdulla Al Hamed meets leading media, technology executives in Shanghai
SHANGHAI (WAM)Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office (NMO) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Media Council, held a series of high-level meetings with leading global executives in media, creative investment, smart education, and advanced technology during the BRIDGE Roadshow's stop in Shanghai.The discussions explored strategic opportunities to co-develop digital content for Middle Eastern markets, drive investment in creative media, integrate artificial intelligence into education, and develop intelligent infrastructure for next-generation media cities.Held as part of the preparations for BRIDGE Summit 2025, set to take place in Abu Dhabi this December, the meetings aim to deepen strategic partnerships with international organisations and unlock new pathways for collaboration across the global media and technology landscape.Abdulla Al Hamed met with Jinjian Zhang, Founding Partner of VitalBridge, a Shanghai-based venture capital firm investing in cutting-edge AI and robotics ventures.The Chairman also held talks with Bonnie Zhang, Founder of Cartea, a fast-growing automotive lifestyle platform bridging Chinese brands and Gulf markets, and Vivi He, Founder of Xiaguangshe (ShineGlobal), a think tank providing global market strategies for Chinese firms expanding overseas.The Chairman also held a high-level meeting with Lv Yang Ming, President of Huawei Cloud Media Services Product Department, where discussions centred on advanced AI-powered content production, live-streaming solutions, and next-generation media infrastructure.Commenting on the meetings, Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed underscored the importance of deepening collaboration with leading global technology and media firms as a strategic priority for the UAE.
He said, 'Forging strong international partnerships is essential to building an agile and integrated media ecosystem that can thrive amid the rapid shifts of the digital age. 7 Aug 2025 00:16 NEW YORK (WAM)Aid agencies warned on Wednesday that most partner organisations providing vital relief across Gaza will likely have to shut down their operations within weeks, unless Israel withdraws its demand that they provide sensitive information about Palestinian development, which also applies to the occupied West Bank, is a result of the Israeli requirement introduced on March 9 impacting international non-governmental organisations (NGOs).'Unless urgent action is taken…most international NGO partners could be de-registered by 9 September or sooner – forcing them to withdraw all international staff and preventing them from providing critical, lifesaving humanitarian assistance to Palestinians,' said UN and partner aid organisations that are known collectively as the Humanitarian Country Team in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT).The UN understands that organisations must now submit, amongst others, details of representatives and all employees in-country, including Palestinian and foreign workers, with full identification and contact foreign worker recommendation requirements, applications must now include marital status and family details, including spouse and children's passport numbers and country of UN agencies still operate in Gaza, working closely with NGO partners to reach the war-torn enclave's most vulnerable people. International NGOs are key as they provide critical support to Palestinian NGOs in the form of supplies, funding and technical support.'Without this cooperation, their operations will be severed, cutting off even more communities from food, medical care, shelter and critical protection services,' said the Humanitarian Country Team, which is overseen by the UN's top aid official in OPT and includes heads of UN agencies and more than 200 local and international NGOs which have not registered under the new system are prohibited from sending any supplies to last month, Israeli authorities rejected repeated requests by 29 of them to ship humanitarian aid to Gaza, citing the organisations as 'not authorised'.'This policy has already prevented the delivery of lifesaving aid including medicine, food, and hygiene items,' the humanitarian collective said. 'This most profoundly affects women, children, older people, and persons with disabilities, further aggravating the risk of being subjected to abuse and exploitation.' In a statement urging Israel to reconsider its demand for sensitive employee information from NGOs, the humanitarian country team insisted that impeding its work violates international law 'when we are receiving daily reports of death by starvation as Gaza faces famine conditions'.

UAE conducts 64th airdrop, delivers 45 food trucks into Gaza
The UAE on Wednesday conducted its 64th airdrop operation and delivered 45 trucks carrying food into Gaza, as the Palestinian population of the enclave continues to face deadly starvation following months of an Israeli blockade. Hospitals in Gaza confirmed five additional deaths linked to famine and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of such fatalities to 193, including 96 children. The Gulf state's latest airdrop, under "Operation Chivalrous Knight," was done in coordination with Jordan and with the participation of France, Germany, and Belgium, state news agency Wam reported. These operations "aim to deliver relief supplies to areas that are difficult to access by land due to the current field conditions." The aid includes various essential food items and emergency humanitarian supplies. With Wednesday's operation, the total amount of airdropped aid has reached over 3,851 tonnes since the start of the UAE's initiative. The UAE reaffirmed its commitment to working in coordination with regional and international partners to ensure the sustained delivery of aid to those in need in Gaza, through air, land, and sea, reflecting its deep-rooted humanitarian principles and its global leadership in relief and aid efforts.
